Naming of ships
Can someone explain to me how this works? I have like 15 names for my Vic SDs and the first 2 are the only ones getting used, then I might see one from the middle of the list. IE... I named all my Vic SD's after old battleships in WW2 Arkansas, Texas, New York, But i will enter a battle with 3 Arkansas' and a Texas. This is starting to get me mad. I wish they would have let us just name them as we make them or at least make it so that it names them down the row and just assigns them that name.

Did you add the names after the ones built into the game or just delete those and add your names?

Its a randomized sequence that the computer picks. I myself have had 4 of the same named ships at one time, while others they will all be different, so you just have to go with it.

there are mods which enable you to name your own ship and make sure that the game doesnt choose more than one ship with the same name at one time

It would be nice if the game actually kept a record of the ships you build, and permanently assign a name to each ship.
Another great feature would be like in 'Star Trek: Armada 2' at the end of the battle, you can go into the records and see exactly what each ship you build did - ie what ships it destroyed, what destroyed it, what fleets it was part of etc.

That's a neat idea--seeing the combat record of all your ships, what engagements they participated in, when they were damaged, etc. I'd love to see that, especially as the Rebellion, where individual ships seem to matter more. I suspect that Empire at War doesn't keep track of ships at all, but rather, simply tallies up the number of ships in each fleet (e.g., instead of remembering that Acclamators #47 and #58 are in Fleet 3 over Corellia, I think it remembers that Fleet 3 over Corellia has two Acclamators in it).

What MODs let you do that with the names, I d like to get it.
Man what a great idea that is. I would LOVE to see the game do this in the next issue,.
