Question OH, MY, GAWD!!!

Dude, I just got this e-mail from my best friend's girlfriend:

"Dear Tom, I can not with hold my feelings any longer. I want you to know how I really feel about you. I love you. You are my sunrise. And my evening sun. I can not live with out your heavenly voice. You are so beautiful, like an angel. Please don't deny me a sweet kiss from your soft lips. Let me know how you feel about me. And if leaving Paul for you would be the right decision..."

She lives in America and we both (me and my best friend) like in the UK. He's been over to America to see her and's going again at Christmas. I know he really loves her and this (if it isn't fake) would break his heart. To be honest, I don't like her and never really have, but every time I go round his house and he calls her, she always asks to speak to me and she wanted me to go over to the US with him.

I'd have no hesitation about telling him if it wasn't going to hurt his feelings, as I don't care about her at all.

I also have the problem that this girl gets depressed alot and has attempted suicide before. I'm not sure what to say to her and whether or not to tell my friend

Any help would be appreciated

tell the girl that you are flattered but that you wouldn't want to do anything to hurt your friend, that way you can brush her off without hurting her feelings or her taking it personally, so hopefully she won't get depressed or anything.
I don't know your friend, but I know if it was my friend i would tell him. If you really care about him then you won't want him to get hurt and it sounds like this girl is trouble.

Question

Thanks

I kind of expected it from her and my immediate response was "I'm gonna tell him straight away". But then I remembered all the times she's screwed him up before and made him cry and stuff

He really cares about her, here's a sample from his MSN profile:
"Favourite Things
My favorite person is mysti, my girlfriend, mysti invalid, she is 17, has the worlds most perfect personality"

Even though her personality sucks. I think this is like his first girlfriend and he's acting like he knows loads and that all girls are like this. He's so in love with her, but she treats him like dirt sometimes, and he can't stand up to her, he's totally whipped.

wooooopaaaaaaaaaah

Here's the mail I was thinking of sending her:
"Misty
First off, I have to say this came as quite a shock to me and I'm still not sure whether it''s a joke or not, especially as you've put my full name down and I can't remember telling you it. If you are serious the I'm sorry to tell you that I don't feel the same way for a number of reasons. Firstly, I consider Paul too good a friend to do something like this to him. Secondly, I barely know, as do you hardly know me, so I don't feel strongly for you in the way that you've expressed, only as a friend. And thirdly you likve too far away from me and I already have feelings for girls I know.
As for whether or not you should leave Paul - Well the mere fact that you sent me this e-mail shows that you don't care strongly enough for him and I advise that you seperate, for the good of both of you
Tom"

I'm sure that will be fine. Are you going to tell your mate. If she doesn't finish it the longer it goes on, the more he will get hurt in the end. its hard to do that sometimes (tell a friend something like that). i had to do it a few months ago. I work in the same department as a friends (then) boyfriend and I heard he was cheating on her. I knew she would be devastated but I told her cos its better than finding out years later when they are engaged or shes pregnant or something. That would be much worse. But despite of everything my friend was glad I told her and said I did the right thing. Hope all this rambling helps.

Phew, it turns out it was just a joke. They were both in on it. Good joke I decided not to send the mail 'til I found out if it was a joke or not

I hope your friend didn't think you had a thing for her and was doing this as a test to see whether you did or didn't. If a friend ever did that to me I'd go ballistic at them for not trusting me around her boyfriend

Well it's good to know it's sorted out
