Though I mostly agree, the Clone Commander can be very useful when clearing out hoards of enemies.

I'm not so sure about command units being useless. As Darth Andrew stated, the Clone Commander can be quite devastating - and also most people seem to consider him extremely weak, I actually like the Imperial commander. Somewhat. He's certainly no extraordinary superfighter - but he has potential. I guess the main reason why I like him is his grenade launcher. I have fond memories of it's deadly power from Battlefront 1 ... and it's not really weaker in BF2. There's even a nice, if not very powerful, new twist. If you launch grenades at full power, it seems that they bounce over the ground and explode not by contact but at the end of the bounce. The grenade launcher is rather difficult to aim at longer distances - but with practice it's not that hard. With the weakened heavy trooper in BF2 I think the grenades cause nearly as much - if not a bit more - damage (though of course not for vehicles) as the rockets. And you have far more ammunition - and you can occasionally launch it safely while standing behind cover due to the angle of the shots. The commander's other abilities aren't that bad, either - though the sonic pistol is of course a) rather pitiful and b) a VERY weird choice for an imperial commander. Oh - and he could REALLY use some uniform variation (which probably applies to all the 'special units'). In my opinion his main weakness is that he seems to die rather quickly. Though I'm not so sure if it's the comparison to BF1's pilot who carried bacta tanks that creates this impression or if he has truly less hit points than regular units (probably that ).
If the rebel 'commander' unit is supposed to be the Bothan spy ... well, all I can say about that is that from an imperial perspective, this is the one unit I'm most afraid of. Of course, if you can spot them from a distance, they are harmless - but I can't count the number of times when one of those dirty little aliens just sneaked up behind me to roast - groups - of imperials. Yes ... you can roll away in time - if you are very lucky. And if you see him coming.
Bothans are primary targets for whatever weapons I happen to be holding.

^^^ Well after only 6 kills you get the award pistol so that must be handy.

Nah, the Imperial Officer has the same amount of health points as the normal trooper. I took a peek at the odfs. The Pilot having bacta actually makes sense. I remember taking advantage of that a few times.

I'll go with the sniper class, if I understood the topic. They're somewhat limited at short range, but they're pretty handy in just about any situation.

Magnaguard for me. I think that the weapons are pretty good, except the main blaster it has is pretty/kinda slow.

I voted for the engineer class, although i perfer mainly both the engineer class and the anti-armor class, because i'm just the support type of player. Also, i like to play the commander classes, and sometimes, i'll play as the sniper class, but it's mainly the first two.

i voted engineer, because he can heal himself and he rocks at close range. sometimes i play sniper class, because my personality is recon and intelligence gathering, plus the scout trooper has way cooler armour than the rest of em, but hey, elite rifle is probably the most useful all-round weapon, so normal soldier is awesome (with award rifle).

Is it even a question?!?!?!?

You got to be kidding me!! the normal soldier is best, no questions asked. But i can handle the super battle droid easier. Even though the the droids die easier. :

IMO, the rocket trooper is the best unit class. I love using mines on noobs that don't know to avoid them .

Actually the jet trooper is the best for anyone who likes the precision pistol. Just get it, and you have a nice weapon to totally decimate infantry with. The you can use your EMP launcher to destroy groups of infantry, and droidekas.

I prefer Engineer the best. The class I hate the most is Droideka. Its almost like cheating. All my friends ever play as is them.If you know how to kill them easly its not that bad. They really just use them for there shield and rapid fire. Any other class they use I slaughter them...

I say a normal infantry soldier. That automatic rifle is just killer on hoards of enemies. On online play i got 117 kills (around that) out of the enemy's 800 army. I died 4 times. Amazingly enough i got more kills than that w/ a jet trooper but i died like 20 times.
