Well, technically since Mace "BMF" Windu is 10 Maul would at best be 9.9, and possably less, more like 9.7-9.8 at best.

Obi-Wan is better than Maul after he evolves, and there might be another Jedi or two who is better.

We are not counting non 1-6 era characters I guess cause if so Maul or even Windu would be only considered "quite strong"

There are people like Exan Kun... who can eat Windu, Obi, Anakin and Maul for breakfast.

Mace ?beats? Sidious (or did sidious let him defeat him to help convince anakin)

Sidious beats Yoda

Sidious beats half of jedi council

Nice analysis there, Astrotoy7.

My thought is that some of these characters' lightsaber skills changed over time, Anakin and Obi-Wan especially. Once Anakin went into the suit I think his lightsaber wielding proficiency decreased. But of course even if his skills with the lightsaber weren't as good as when he had three natural limbs they were better than ending up with three stumps and an artificial right hand to fight with.

Maul was tired from killing Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan used 'revenge' to beat Maul. Just like Luke did in the cave on Dagobah.

Not only a cheap shot, but Qui Gon was worried for young Obi Wan- distracted. Maybe he pulled an 'Obi-Wan' like when Obi-Wan fell to Vaders saber (to give strength to his padawan).

Possible, but as Yoda has trained jedi for 800 years, most likely one of Yoda's former students trained Sidious, or Yoda knew who DID train him.

I personally BELIEVE Yoda was the 'toughest', certainly the strongest in the force, if not the best swordsman.

Sidious wasn't trained by a Jedi obviously. And most probably not by ex-Jedi too - Darth Plageuis or w/e its spelled was a true Sith IMO.
