Was the Force protecting Anakin?

Was the Force itself preventing any fatal harm from reaching Anakin? Or did he survive things that no one else could because of him being created by the Force and because the force was always with him?

And if the Force was protecting Anakin, does that mean that the Force's natural state is "balanced"? For example, when the Force first came to be, was it "balanced", with no Dark or Light forces pulling it to one side or the other?

So, basically this is another Living Force, Unifying Force argument.

I believe "balance" would mean not too Dark, and not too Light.

That having said, I am skeptical in the "there is no Dark Side only dark intensions" believe. Although interestingly many publications does support the occational use of "Dark Side powers" by a lightsider being ok.

"Balance", when refering to the force is not literal, it means that there is only the light side. But I think the whole idea of "sides" of the force is confusing, there is the force what it was meant for, being used for good, and there is the force being used by people corrupted by its power and using it for evil.
The force is in balance when there is no corruption.

GL has stated that Anakin brought balance to the Force by destroying himself and the Emperor and thus bringing an end to the Sith (which is btw. why I strongly dislike post-ROTJ EU - it completely contradicts this).

Actually thats also the problem, post RTOJ EU seems to suggest that the Old Jedi is "Too Light Sided"

I know this sounds funny, but Luke's NJO does seems more "neutral" and this seems to suggest that the "Definition" of "Balance" have been changed over the years.

The PT only seems to support this even more, if anything.

It was so that he would survive and bring balance. He had to survive in order for that to happen.

Well, do you really expect the Force to stay balanced forever? The Dark and Light sides will always be pulling it in a certain direction, even if it stays balanced for a short amount of time.

But seriously, I beleive in the KOTOR view of the force, Jolee says that the two sides are the same, the force is neither light nor dark, its how you use it. And on the subject of Anakin, the force had to be protecting him or he wouldve melted in that lava.

Jolee is more lik ea grey jedi who believes "there is no dark side only dark intentions"

Also, it might be the Anger and Hatred in Anakin that protects him, in a Dark Side kind of way, sort of like a Dark Rage or something.

Course the force isn't light or dark, its just the force. if you do nice things with it, people think it's light side powers. If you zap people or do mean things to people , they think its the dark side.
