Deadly mobile phone virus causes panic

Noticed this news article when browsing the news today:

Deadly mobile phone virus causes panic...

Strikes me as rather odd that someone would take that seriously even if they aren't technologically savvy, but it seems you can fool people into believing anything.

Wha?

I wonder in what way this was explained to make people believe it. Perhaps the modern-day Angel of Death no longer has to visit each house door-to-door -- he just gives you a call.

Was Ringu aimed at my avatar?

On topic, that's pretty dumb, I would never fall for that.

They have massive cell coverage in pakistan. Never beleive anything you see on tv about people living in mud huts with pet snakes. It's actually very tech savvy.

Waking up.

So they have mud huts, pet snakes, women in veils, and cell phones. Gotta love modern technology.

From MST3K's spoof of "Hercules Unchained"--heard as Roman medic soldiers carry off an unconscious Greek Hercules on a 1950's Army green canvas stretcher: "Hi, we're IX-I-I. Did somebody dial IX-I-I?"

Setting up wireless networks is cheaper than setting up landlines, that's why.
