Free up some of those megger-bites for Vista SP1

Not that I'm surprised, nor doubt this will be an issue for too many people.. but I thought this gang might find this interesting on the proposed size, and more importantly, the amount of free space to have just to install it (temp memory to be relinquished)...

Well you can pick up a 500Gb HDD for around 50 quid nowadays (around $100 for you Yanks I would say), and most HDDs sold with PCs today are a decent size, so I doubt it would be a problem for anyone really, unless you need to download it on dial-up lolz...

^^^Right on the nose, NS.

As cheap as 7200.10 HDDs are now, even RAIDs 5 or 10 are options.

Or RAID 0 at least.

@ChAiNz: When is Apple going to wisen up and offer the MacOS as a true alternative to Windows for every PC? We both know that OSX is superior to anything that M$ could conjure up, and has been for many years. But it's chained to their ridiculously overpriced hardware. Since their hardware is now practically indentical to the PC's, they would just need to make the MacOS compatible with PC software and they could really have a shot at breaking the M$ monopoly.

I guess we can all dream, can't we?

Fix their home team score on the board to the debt clock, they can win every game 17,000,000,000,000 to 24. Losing team gets taxed by the IRS 100%, then droned."

Totally agree...a lot of people nowadays are dual-booting their PCs as it is because as much as we dislike windows, it's still a good OS, but so is OSX or Linux and we all know open source stuff is growing in popularity all the time.

On Topic, hopefully this patch will solve some of the GPU memory issues involved with gaming as well, and it'll silence all these moaners...

well, they need a little bit more work done on legacy software support (aka, backwards compatibility), but otherwise, i don't see where they need to change much in the service pack. new features are always a welcome addition, though.

c'mon stinger....anyone that is devoted to legacy apps shouldnt have upgraded in the first place !!

Accounting for that type of compatibility would make the OS even *more* top-heavy than it already is....

dual boot or run a virtual setup...!!

Well, someone feels rather strongly about a couple of Vista's quirks. I don't see M$ going out of their way to fix either, unfortunately. Thanks for the link, BTW. Interesting stuff.

Yup. Spend ~$100.00 (maybe less) and get an OEM copy of XP and dual boot if you want to run older apps and games (esp. games). It would be worth it for fewer headaches. I'm afraid that anyone with Vista who wants to play older games will have to do this.
