KOTOR 3 New character advent or returning old ones? Predominant theme light or dark?

The title pretty much sums it up.

Mostly I am referring to the main player: whether it should be either
a new character or a combination of Revan AND the Exile. I had toyed with the idea really about 2005 after TSL came out and ROTS had hit theaters and gone. I figured with the big mistake on TSL it was too early to come to any conclusion. It was a supposition. I'm glad to see I am not the only one who pondered this. While we all have had some really great ideas for plot and story, lucasarts does have its own mind made up about its works. George himself has even stated upfront how *HE* must be the one to write his stuff.

This was prompted by various other threads here, on obsidian, on team gizka, and elsewhere in general. Really, I am not sure if there is much room for a third character in terms of BIG TIME heroes/villains--it just kind of gets dull in the overall story. However there may be room for 'one more splurge'--after all much of SW comes in 3s right? Personally, I see, and perhaps feel, more chance of Revan + Exile dual main player. Many of the choices in the previous 2 would be rendered perhaps inert and irrelevant; the most important stuff could still be chosen via dialogue or some other way. I'm just not sure how much more can be rewally added here in the KOTOR era.

Now a dual main player scheme might sound a bit sour at first (admittedly it probably is kind of dull in how it sort of forces replay BUT it'd organize it in such a way to develop the intrigue--the two ways to go about it wouldn't be exactly the same and it'd obviously have all the chioces of the kotor games we know and love)...... then again, it might not be so bad either.

Unfortunately, the only example of this I can give is MegaMan Xtreme 2-- you chose how the quest was going to happen. Either MegaMan X or Zero.
The format was actually not too bad IMHO--it just needed a jucier storyline.

You'd go the chosen quest and it appeared there were 2 bad bosses. You'd face one or the other at the end depending on which quest you chose (who you started with--though throughout the game you'd tag team and such). Then you would save after beating the first (whichever one) and do the other quest--albeit with some extra little goodies that wouldn't be otherwise obtainable (it'd provide a little replay value that way--goodies and not just items but quests and dialogue). Then you would complete that one--and find that the quest was still not over; there was a main villain behind the two. You'd then go the whole true story no holds barred and end it with fighting the main badass--of which you had to combine the talents of the two in order to beat him.
Maybe the third element is already there in between the two? Another quest?

Also so far as the plot line, I have seen unconfirmed posts that the jedi order implodes after TSL. (source PLLLLLEASE?!) This would imply (at least to me) that lucasarts is trying to lend some truth, wiehgt, substance, etc. to palpatine's statement in AOTC. "I will not let this republic that has stood for a thousand years be split in two..." Like the republic officially shattered, but remnants in large numbers still remain and are trying to reassemble it--but won't until around the period just prior to jedi vs sith. Maybe this could be the plot or it could be a supporting factor (as in it already happened).

In essence what I want is a vote either
Nay/NIX: revan and exile are not part of it, we start anew--though rev and ex would undoubtedly still have influence as well as the previous quests too. How the above would not work.

Yay/combination: what I just described above and how it would work. opinions and suggestions welcome as well as constructive criticism but do try to keep it as light as possible and stay on topic.

EDIT: The third NEW main character is possible even with a YAY vote--I don't see why not. NOW, LET US HAVE IT!

I think it should be three or more ways With the exile against Revan and you picking a side (and determining your place in that side) or going your own way light or dark. Midway through the game the sides should be muddied and you will be the determining factor in clarifying things and bringing balance to the force, balancing it in one direction or the other or destroying it all. Along the way you should find out what happened to all the others and depending on what happened in the first games (who you killed/maimed) you'll see all the characters from the previous games and have the opportunity (though not guaranteed) to recruit them in some fashion. Multiple romance options that affect gameplay and the outcome of the story.

Technically, that was retconned with the Ruusan reformation, so i doubt we'll be seeing any mention of that.

As for the question: I prefer a new character all the way, with references to the outcome of KotOR and TSL, but without having to play Revan and /or Exile. Seeing them is not necesary either, but it wouldn't bother me if we did

No,it would require a new answer to why is the exile/revan lvl 1,and it would be tooooo cheesy.I think that you should be a new char, and revan/exile(although i doubt revan will be in the game as a party membe) would be your friend.

I think that you should be the exile, and there is a Sith Lord, a Jedi and Revan. A real tragic and exciting ending would be nice.

I whole heartedly agree with that. Obviously we need to tie up loose ends with Revan and the Exile, but having to play either one of them as a level 1 again would ruin things for me. But playing both of them as level 1 would be ridiculous.

Of course you maybe could play one or the other starting at a high level. But we all finished our games at different levels, we chose different classes, skills, feats, and powers. I would hate to play a default high level Revan or Exile, so the only way I'd want to even try that is if they let us level up the PC and make all the choices myself. But if a KotOR3 uses the same powers, feats, etc. as in the first two games, then I will start out with all those powers and feats I like best. This would then take away from one of the joys of getting new levels in the game, i.e. gaining new new feats and powers that you will want and use. So for my taste, that means I'd want a KotOR3 with many new high level feats and powers so I have something to look forward to on gaining a new level. Also, it would require new creatures to fight and rebalancing of all the opponents. I could go on, but I will stop here, saying it just would be a lot more work for them to develop a game that we could enjoy starting as a high level PC than if the game starts with a new, low level PC.

I think the Predominate theme should be light for once.

Revan ruled because of the revelation that you are the bad guy, the Exile ruled because of her history and how to deal with it coming back to haunt her, hope against hope that the well has not run dry and they can create a new and equally awesome character.

I've always been in favor of having a new character, with Revan and the Exile appearing a few times throughout the game (but not ever being controlled by you). Having to come up with another explanation for why either of them had lost their powers again would just be stupid. The only alternative would be to not have them start without there powers, but who would want to start out at level 30?

[For Light Theme] What if, say Revan is the Master and the Exile is the apprentice but the Exile has abilities/saber skills/powers much like Obi-Wan as a Knight and is capable to take on an apprentice of his/her own. You would create a character much like KOTOR I & II. As the game progresses and you align with the light side, you successfully locate and greet the both of them and discuss about the Sith Empire. Revan is killed by a Sith and the Exile takes you on as an apprentice. I would rather have Revan be alive as the Master because the whole "wound in the Force" thing with the Exile is somewhat complicated. Or maybe the Exile is captured by the Sith and is turned to the Dark Side and must be stopped. Bastila returns after being with her dying mother in Coruscant. During that time she has taught Mission Vao and Zaalbar about the Force and are now Jedi Padawans. Admiral Carth would also have a touch in the Force but isn't focused enough to use it, yet. Juhani and Jolee search for Revan only to encounter your character along with the group from KOTOR II. If Revan is alive as the Master, they all return to Coruscant and reunite to discuss events leading up to the search for the true Sith. If the Exile is the Master, they still return to Coruscant and discuss the matter about the true Sith only to discover that the Exile killed Revan and is masking his true intentions and his character much like Palpatine did just to get an inside job and really stick it to the Jedi once and for all. The reunited "Lost Jedi" will not survive. Some will die early from battle, some from sacrifice, or maybe one to three will turn to the dark side.

Another wild idea: Revan and the Exile have turned to the Dark Side from the beginning, Both KOTOR I & II groups are one as you lead them to search for the Sith. Several members from your party will fall to the dark side and join them. In your search in the Outer Rim planets, you encounter a very young Yoda. He's brought to Coruscant and immediately rises in the Jedi ranks. Yoda becomes a Knight at a critical point in the game and is dispatched to aid you and what remains of your Party.

[For Dark Theme]-- Revan=Dark Lord
Exile= Sith apprentice to Revan
main character= becomes apprentice to the Exile after Revan is
defeated by the Exile.
Bastila= leads the effort to defeat you due to her past "association"
with Revan.
Carth=leads the effort to defeat you due to his past "association"
with Revan.
KOTOR I group= enemies due to past association with Revan.
Kotor II group MINUS Mandalore, HK,T3= allies due to association
with the Exile.
Mandalore= Flees and reunites Mandalorian clans in Dxun. Secretly
aiding both Jedi and Sith in the hope to weaken both
simultaneously and finish off the last of the two
Order still standing. HK aids the Mandalorians due to his
past association with his dead Master, Revan

This would be a mainly dark theme where the objective is to seek, plunder, discover the True Sith, lure force sensitives to the dark side and annhilate every Jedi, the Rebublic, and punish the mandalorians for their audacity. Main goal is simply to conquer the galaxy and bring the rise of the Sith Order.

That sounds like a game I would want to play, one exeption, you get to create your own personal starfighter with lightspeed capibilities, and you get to fight in space battles with other Jedi and the Republic. I also like the idea of Yoda, BUT this time period is still long before Yoda (Yoda is about 900 years old when he died). So that kinda rules out Yoda, maybe Yoda's father or something?? Also some Episode 3 music would be nice for some moments throughout the game Anyway, I think that would be a pretty good video game!!

yeah thats sounds like something i would like, have the character be with someone who is on both sides of the spectrum and have them "approve" and "disapprove" of his actions so neither action would have adverse consequences either way

and just a side note, have a Fett show up in the game, i would love that

Save yourself the trouble - you're right. That was the armor of Cassus Fett.

I have asked that question on another thread, and I beleive that I was told that Jango was "adopted" or kidnapped by the Mandos. I may have been misinformed, so I am going to try and pull up the thread...

ehhh, thats all I could get, but I know that I heard somewhere that Jango was kidnapped, not quite sure where though...
