menu problems

Ok, the game runs fine until the point where I go to the menu to save my game. As soon as I save my game and resume where I left off. The sound stops working and just a few seconds after that the game freezes. But I can go to the menu and exit fine. Then when I start the game where I lasted saved it works again. I am just afraid if I don't save the game will stop working. Can anyone help me?

This sounds like the same problem I had, which I believe is refered to as hyper-threading. Are you running the game on XP? Try following this thread

Don't worry about this, being able to save has nothing to do with the game working. Being unable to save makes you have to play through the whole game in one sitting, but it isn't going to damage the program or anything
