What order do you do the planets in and why?
What's your favorite order to do the planets in in KotOR I? Why?
Also, I'm looking to gain LS mastery ASAP. Is there a particular place I should look first? My team is ready to leave Dantooine, and I'd love for my Guardian to get +3 to his STR!
My diapers have gone over to the dark side.

Korriban is great, but often LS points lead to intense battles while your character isn't in the best condition to fight.

Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, Korriban
It's what Wookieepedia's articles assume is the order the player chooses.
I think it's the recommended order in terms of overall difficulty and story progression.
It makes the most practical sense because the final two party members are on Tatooine and Kashyyyk so they should be first anyway, and also because you can't take Bastila on Korriban, yet if you save it for last, she's not with you anyway.
It makes more sense to me for the Leviathan to capture you when leaving Manaan as it would be no surprise for a Sith Interdictor to be in that system, whereas it wouldn't make sense for it to be at Tatooine or Kashyyyk without attracting unwanted attention.
It's also the order Bastila lists them in the "revelation" scene....I think?

Actually, Tatooine and Kashyyyk are both Sith worlds.

I don't recall any Sith military presence being at Tatooine or Kashyyyk at any point in the game.

They're controlled by Czerka, which is allied with the Sith. So a Sith warship wouldn't really attract attention.

1) I do Kashyyyk first, to pick up Jolee. That and its the easiest one IMO
2) Then Tatooine, to complete just about everybodys´ side quest (Mission, Canderous, Bastila) O.K so theres only three, but you get my point.
3) Then Manaan- save my favorite for last.
4) Korriban - its the hardest one plus it just seems to fit in the storyline like that that and Bastila is already gone soit makes no difference if she can set foot on Korriban anyway.
Ascendant_Justice gave a good explaination, though Kashyyyk and Tatooine can be switched without much of an issue really. True, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan, Korriban, is the order Basty lists them in...I just prefer to pick up Jolee before HK. I would argue that Kashyyyk is easier than Tatooine despite what anybody says though...
Really as long as you don´t do Korriban first, you´ll be fine. Its very hard if you do it first, and makes it impossible to complete Carth´s sidequest.

Yea, actually, I did find those darn Sand People rather irritating.
While Tatooine and Kashyyyk are Czerka controlled, and they are allied with the Sith, there still is no Sith military presence on either planet. Consider the fact that the Leviathan is the flagship of the Sith fleet with two very high-value targets on it, making it very vulnerable to be completely alone. To send the Leviathan to Tatooine or Kashyyyk would mean it would have no forces on standby to help it if it were to come under another Republic strike similar to Bastila's strike on Revan's ship. I think the only way the Leviathan can safely travel is within, or close to, a Sith fleet presence, such as in the Manaan system. Even if the Leviathan were to be escorted to Tatooine or Kashyyyk, the Republic could still be desperate enough to mount a strike. I don't see Malak taking the chance.
Manaan just seems like the safest place for the Leviathan to abduct the Ebon Hawk, to me. It can remain relatively isolated, rip the Hawk out of hyperspace, and not need to fear Republic fleet intervention because the Republic wouldn't dare try anything even remotely near the Manaan system.

Didn't Carth say that the Leviathan was waiting for them on one of the hyperspace routes, rather than in orbit?

Let me check...
"Sith Interdictor ship. They must have been waiting for us on the hyperspace route. We're caught in their tractor beam."
Yup, you are correct. So the planet doesn't really make any difference.

True :\. It's definitely not in orbit above the planet, but I always assumed it was close to whatever planet you were leaving. It's not like Malak knew where you were going. You could have been going to Yavin station, not necessarily the last star map planet, so I figured he ripped you out of hyperspace pretty darn soon after entering it, just far enough away to be "alone".
No way of knowing I suppose.

Meh.
Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Korriban, Manaan. (Last two interchangibly)
Kashyyyk is always first, as Jolee is my favorite character in the first one, then Tatooine to do those pesky character missions. The reason why for Korriban to be third, instead of last, is I like bringing Bastila with me. It also is largely depended on whether or not I feel like it.

What do you mean "bringing Bastila with you"? Is there a mod that changes whether or not she stays behind... I do remember something like that in youtube.
I always do Korriban last to ensure Yuthura doesn't leave the sith until after Dantoinne was destroyed. I have no doubt that Revan went to Korriban last, so she didn't die in the attack in the canical version.

You can bring Bastila with you (technically cut content... as she has VO's and everything and has little arguements with Carth. Probably scrapped by Bioware at the last second.)
T7Nowhere made the mod, I do believe.

I do Tatooine, than Manaan, Kashyyyk, and last Korriban. Tatooine first cause I like HK and Calo is at his easiest there, Manaan cause I typically do the bounty hunter's guild with the long weird names missions, then Kashyyyk, and lastly Korriban so I can have my jedi entourage without Bastilla.
Although sometimes I switch Manaan and Kashyyyk cause I feel like it. And sometimes I just go to Tatooine long enough to get HK than, I leave. It all depends on my mood though....
"A few times in my life I've had moments of absolute clarity. When for a few brief seconds, the silence drowns out the noise and I can feel rather than think, and things seem so sharp and the world seems so fresh. I can never make these moments last. I cling to them, but like everything, they fade. I've lived my life on these moments. They pull me back to the present and I realize that everything is exactly the way it was meant to be."

I always tend to do Korriban, Tattooine, Kashyyyk, Manaan.
Because Korriban is interesting, whereas Manaan just bores the hell outta' me.

Yeah, I like Korriban the most. It just seems like you're a pilgrim in an unholy land, but it's interesting to have so much conflict in one place. Manaan is so neutral that they're evil. Tatoinne is just full of sandpeople who I want to hate, but who were victims long before Czerka came around. I just don't like large expanses of nothingness. Korriban is packed with challenges.

very true.
That's why I prefer K1 to K2 - K2 had SO many dead places. There was Dantooine, Korriban, Peragus... and Dxun was pretty plain, too.

Couldn't even go in the tombs in the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban in K2 (best part for me in K1 about Korriban)...all you need to do is the Sith Academy, which takes like a whopping 15 minutes maybe (if that even), and then you can leave. Shyrack Cave is completely optional I think...although it's good for XP.

Manaan is my favorite planet! I love the political neutrality the Selkath demand. It was refreshing to see that, with all the squabbles between the Republic and the Sith Empire, there was something separate that commanded authority over both of them. The tension, sans war, was a clever addition that I enjoyed. Besides, the whole planet is an ocean. How can you not love staring out over the side of Ahto City? Heck, Ahto City is the only real city in the game after Taris. That pathetic Anchorhead is nothing.
It's too bad everything about Manaan became obsolete, including the Selkath's intelligence, once Bacta emerged on the scene :\.
Also, who can forget "Nooooooo! I'm invincible!!" It's like Boris from Goldeneye

If I am lightsided then I do them like such
1) Tatooine to get the dragon pearl & HK-47
2) Korriban to redeem Yuthura Ban
3) Kashyyyk to pick up Jolee Bindo
4) Manaan
Darkside = Tatooine -> Kashyyyk -> Manaan -> Korriban

Tatooine > Kashyyyk > Manaan > Korriban
Did that way first time, and will always do because Ray Muzyka said that's the ideal order.

I would vote, but it's kinda old.
I like Taris as well though. I pretty much liked each planet. Each one had a very unique environment and atmosphere to it. My least favorite out of all of them would probably be Kashyyyk, even though I don't not like it. It's just the least appealing to me, and I get very tired of having to read subtitles whenever 95% of the population is speaking to me. I love talking to the Rakatan AI though.
Lehon is a nice planet to stop and look around on. I love going on that one cliff face in the beginning and looking out across the shore. Does anyone know what those frigging enormous ships are out there? You can see them in the banner at the top of the page behind Malak.

I always killed him haha. Just to shut him up.
And yeah I always chose that option some things you just couldn't pass up, even if they were evil...
Like if you could use Force Persuade in K2 on those thugs on Nar Shaddaa, to tell them to run into the pit in the middle.
Evil, yet funny.

They deserved it! I think you should get LS for torching the craphole of a few thugs. How many more would they have beaten up?
I do hate the guy for shifting his problem to you as if you would actually pay his debt! I did it the way I wanted it in my version... leave the pig to his fate... then wait and order the thugs to jump to get to the ground more quickly.

In the second game, I always swing by Nar shadaa to get a few things and then go for Duxan to get Canderous and then back to Nar Shadaa to complete the level.
-Korriban
-Duxan again
-Dantoine - where I decide if I want the traditional LS ending or if I want to give Vrook what he deserves. I guess it just isn't satisfying enough to kill him... I wanted him to admit he was wrong... anyone can kill him.

I usually try to avoid going to Kashyyyk last. If I put it off until after the Leviathan, then the conversation with the Rakatan computer in the Shadowlands is basically removed.

1st - Endar Spire - I wake up there.
2nd - Taris, some inconsiderate mechanised man who shall go unnamed, suffered a bad childhood, and took it out on the Endar Spire - thus I have to escape to the hole they call Taris.
3rd - Dantooine - Carth and Bastila conspire to make themselves the only romance options for the PC and so remove all traces of other planets, except Dantooine, as there are no hotty rivals based there. Finally after the both send out scouts they find that there are no hotty rivals on Kashyyyk (its a hairy big man world), Manaan (they all smell of fish), Korriban - they all look like zombies and Tatooine - they're all inbred.
4th - Revan thinks if Tatooine is good enough for Luke I'll go there.
5th - Fancying fish and chips a trip to Manaan is now in order.
6th - Having got fat from fish and chips, a health diet from the eco friendly world of Kashyyyk is now in order.
