Helping out Griff
After I give him some Tach Glands, does this slacker ever show up again? The quest is left open and I revisit Tatooine from time to time, but never find him.

Did you have Mission with you for giving the glands to Griff. Did you discuss what kind of "person" her brother is?

Yes and yes.
When I talk to her now, she keeps telling me she hopes he comes through on his deal.

I think you gotta talk to that guy behind the counter in the Czerka place on Tatooine...I thought he had something to say regarding Griff once he leaves, but I can't remember for sure.

The one time that I did help Griff, I remember him never returning after a while. It seemed pretty inconclusive too. Isn't that how it's supposed to be? I presumed it was he failed with the synthesizing and so disappeared.

Yup, he just rips you off, never to be seen again. That's why you shouldn't bother helping him.

Nevertheless, talking to the Rodian behind the counter triggers the end of that quest. Basically, he tells Griff's plans went awry and that Griff's hiding somewhere. And you don't get you money back.

I LOL at the people who actually gave that scum any money just to learn he's gone forever.

I always give him the money. I consider it part of the story. Not like you're usually hurting for credits by that point in the game.

QFT.
Credits are easy to find, while experience points aren't always around the corner.

I'm assuming most people that are playing don't do that. If you feel like exploiting, fine.

Giving him credits isn't going to teach him anything. Hell, I doubt getting his legs broken by an Exchange agent would teach him anything either. Griff's just a fool. Kreia would scold you severely for shelling out finances to him.

I doubt Kreia would view it entirely as a lose-lose situation.

Why not? She gets uppity with you when your refusal to give a beggar money results in him flipping out and killing people (Who knew that Nar Shaddaa's beggar population has Ninja training?) why should she balk when your refusal to act results in some idiot getting his knees shattered?

I told him I wouldn't give him any money, but I did get the Tach Glands for him. He said he'd get me some cash in the future.
I'll go talk to the dude behind the desk to end this quest.

Uhh.. There will be a KOTOR III...
IT will come out in... 2012..
But back on topic, I usually don't give Griff any money. I just do his quest (Lightside or Dark Side) so I can get that off my data pad.

Can't you just not talk to Mission, and it'll never get on your datapad to begin with?

You seemed to be more concered about just getting it off your datapad, not XP.

Yeah. I want to do the quest just for the XP points.
Then after wards, get it off my data pad.

Is there an option to kill Griff while he's sitting in Sand People jail? I can't recall. Would be a good Dark Side thing, especially when Mission is with you.

There isn't a option for that. But there could be a mod that allows you to do that.
I would make it... but I don't have KOTOR I for PC.

Agreed, but the point of giving Griff credits isn't to teach him a lesson, but to help out a friend and crew member. The lesson is for Mission, not Griff.

Which is tedious and boring to exploit. If you want XP that badly you may as well use cheats instead.

As she says, apathy is death. The PC didn't exploit the situation for their own benefit (granted, that's not possible to do in the game, but the sequence was only there to provide (good) exposition from Kreia).

Not if the PC was able to somehow strengthen himself or Griff through the experience. She'd probably see the latter as a lost cause, though I can see her approving of the character development Mission underwent (that being stopping to idolize her brother and growing up).

I tend to help him out...but I never consider it helping Griff per se. I'm doing it as a favor to his infinitely smarter and more useful sister. It's no secret that I have a big soft spot for Mission.
Doesn't stop me from tweaking the dialogue to have Zaalbar comment on what a dumb@$$ the guy is and ask if he could break Griff's legs himself...

If you want to provide a situation for Kreia to talk at you, make it a situation that can't just as easily be averted by giving an option for 'Ignore the Beggar and Walk Away'. Which is, you know, the most logical and human of the three choices.

You know, there's a dialogue option that lets you skip Kreia's lesson. Just pick that. Yeesh.

By the same logic, if a person can fast-forward through a movie that they didn't like, then that person has no right to complain about it not being good.

Actually, there is. It's mostly satisfying, especially to get rid of your weekly homicidal desires. Unfortunately, that can't be done if Mission's with you by the time.

Now that's awesome. Pure Dark Side right there. Next DS playthrough, I'll make sure to add that to the to-do list. But why can't you do it with Mission there?

IIRC, she simply won't let you and Griff runs away. You get scolded by Mission (and you may scold her back, I believe) but still meet him on the Czerka kiosk just as if nothing ever happened.
