Kepler: A Search for Habitable Planets
So as anyone who follows my Twitter feed is aware today is quite the auspicious day in my life. Tonight at 10:49:57 p.m. EST the Kepler mission will launch from Cape Canaveral to begin it's 3.5 year search for Earth-like planets in our Galaxy.
This is relevant to my life because I have spent the better part of the last two years working on this satellite, writing the software to aid the personnel who are operating the spacecraft.
There is more information on the mission as well as a countdown to launch here.
Tune in to NASA TV in just over 10 hours to see the beginning of NASA's first mission capable of finding other Earths.

I'm waiting for an amazing trailer, like Star Trek's... otherwise I'm not looking !
Seriously though, that's awesome. Hopefully everything goes as planned, good luck and congrats !

Throw in five bucks and a loaf of bread or no deal.

Cool, the most interesting thing I have worked on was the robot welding cell to make Caterham 7 chassis. Nothing as exciting as a space telescope.
I like the BBC's headline for the subject:
"Nasa launches Earth hunter probe"
Very dramatic

I can just imagine that probe coming back down to earth and killing a bunch of people with lasers and long a** needles after hearing that.
