Trouble installing KotOR 1: repcom.bik

I have the Best of PC version of KotOR 1, and am having trouble installing it. Everything works just fine, up until the file repcom.bik. It stops there for a couple minutes, and then gives me the following error message:

Component:        DefaultEN
File:                  D:\KOTOR\data7.cab
Error:                Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

This sounds like a dirty or scratched disk. Have you tried cleaning the disk and/or using a disk repair kit?

What's your OS? I used to have XP and then got a new computer that was burdened with the Vista OS. I started getting that cyclic redundancy error mssg as well when I attempted to install K1. I had to install it "manually" via the Control Panel. It works, but I'm stuck w/v1.0 b/c attempting to upgrade to the latest version causes that annoying securrom problem.

Yeah, if you have Vista, you'll need to check out the first two posts at the top of the page and follow the instructions there.
