This'll make for some good nightmares, and perhaps is a natural progression of the story after some of the more recent works, taking Star Wars away from being for kids.
I think it's best to keep as many surprises as possible. It's like your sister telling you what you're getting for Christmas.

If it is the dark side then how is that going to play into some of it's users? Vader or Palpatine fall so far that they cause this perhaps?
