Well I'm glad this thread has this much buzz. But lets face it, it's going to be on a commercial video game award show. The reveal is going to have to have splosions and stuff for the not-so-hardcore star wars fan. My thoughts also go with Force Unleashed 2. Not bad, but not what we all love.

Negative nancy yes.

Although my money is on a Battlefront III or a TFU 2, I'm quite uninterested in the concept of either, particularly the latter. Let's face it: There hasn't been anything "new" out of LucasArts in the Star Wars realm that was of any substantial quality. As much as I'd love a TIE Fighter successor or a KotOR III, that would only be treading previous ground. Ergo, LucasArts needs to effectively produce and develop a new game of high-calibre before they whet our collective appetites for a franchise reboot.

According to Mark Griskey's twitter, he's working on the music for whatever this game is and he already has developed a "Theme" for it. I don't think Battlefront ever needed its own "theme", so I imagine its going to be a game that takes place outside of the movies. So that might rule out the possibility of it being BFIII... (But knowing its Mark Griskey doing the music, it might be either KotOR III or TFU2, or something completely new)

It's sounding more and more like a new intellectual property, now. Then again, TFU2 might need a new theme, too, I guess.

Oh I do hope they are customizable. I need someone to occasionally hold my Watermelon flavored Arizona and to flip the bird to unwelcome intruders. Maye use a ultrabright burning laser (on this page http://amazing1.com/laser_pointers.htm) to light some of my pyro on new years...

Unless its plot is based on the "infinities" comics, I really don't see where else it could go. Though I'd still dig on a TFU2.

Maybe a prequel into the KOTOR games? (Or I finally get my wish for a GTA-esque-or-better based SW title.[/wishful thinking])

I would say that unless Kotor3 has been in secret development by obsidian and is about to hit us in the jaw with a knockout punch, that is highly unlikely. Though I have wondered if L.A. behind the scenes hasn't given an OK to obsidian to finish KOTOR 2 as they had intended. Afterall, the modding scene in Holowan has grown and lived, so it's hard not to notice as a potential competitor for story content.

Now that I think of it, I think its going to be a completely new series. I don't know, it just seems logical now that it will be something actually ORIGINAL. Now that ladies and gentlemen, would be exciting.

Maybe I'm alone on this but one of the reasons I'm looking at this so negatively is that it's kinda lame to announce that you're going to announce something before you announce it. I can't help but expect a disappointment at the end of it. I just hope I'm wrong.

Not for most of the more memorable announcements I can recall. I guess it's hard now days to really surprise people when everything gets leaked through the internet. Even if it is normal though, I still think it's lame. I guess I've just been burned so many times with these pre-announcements, with all the disappointing viral marketing and such. I tend to associate it with creating artificial hype as a way of over-compensating for a less than exciting announcement. Though maybe I just think that because I prefer to be caught off-guard when it comes to that sort of thing. *shrug*

Half-Life 2's announcement was a total surprise and was announced 4 months before its (original) release date. The best announcements are total surprises. Given that this is on Spike TV, I'm going to go with either:

1) Force Unleashed Sequel
2) Battlefront Sequel
3) New IP from the Star Wars universe (console only since Lucasarts is abandoning the consumer base that made it a viable company in the first place )

^^^Re. 3: Yeah, don't you just hate that? But Ce' la vie, they are a company afterall and unfortunately need to go for money eventually.
Still I wish it would have been maybe a bit farther down the continuum in our favor of profit vs fan appeal before milking the money cow. Some say with the Ewoks in ROTJ, that was Uncle George's first pull in this direction. *shrug*

I'm hoping for JK4 and that it doesn't suck.

I'm thinking it'll be BattleFront 3.

Speculation is fun.

I'm hoping for BF3 but I would be enthralled with JK4, TFU2 wouldn't do the same as the other two

Imperial Commando would be pretty sweet.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

A game based on that? Hell **** yes. That would be cool. I'd hella play that.

Speaking of Darth Bane: in 2 days will be the release of Drew Karpyshyn's third and final installment to the Darth Bane novel series. In case any of you out there didn't know already.

If the little preview morsel at the end of the recent 501st novel was any indication, there will be an obscene and awesome amount of blood, pain, and mayhem. I have many questions waiting to be answered.

I only hope Bane's death isn't some ridiculous, pitiful one.

When I considered Star Wars: Darth Bane, that was after I considered Star Wars: Exar Kun, another potentially awesome game.

Las Vegas just posted its odds:

1:2 - Something Clone Wars and meant for lil' basta-children.
1:4 - Something unrelated to the movies in any way but name.
1:10 - Battlefield
1:15 - TFU 2
1:50 - Commando
1:100 - Something Cock of Doody-ish
1:150 - KotOR 3
1:300 - JK4
1:1000 - New X-Wing/TIE Fighter game.

Give your money to me for bets and I'll see that they are...uh...invested.

I vote we change the odds of a new X-Wing/TIE Fighter game to approximately 3720 to 1.

I'm digging the ESB references.

I'd be in favor of a new OT game.

Activision always publishes LucasArts games in Europe and Asia, it will probably be both developed and published by LucasArts in North America.

Looking forward to learning more, hopefully it is something that people can get excited about.

Activision? Oh no. You're going to be a Jedi of a war clan piloting models of modified AT-STs to fight off the other clans.

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back for the Atari 2600 remake. They didn't have the technology back then to properly display the effects the original game designers wanted. Now they do, and so they're remaking it with new special effects and a slightly modified storyline.

A SW game where prominent figures from all times in SW come together and do battle. Sort of like Battlefron, JK series, and maybe an action version of KOTOR games on top. A fighter game. [/wishful thinking]

I know the last time they tried anything like it was masters of Teras Khasi for SNES. Still, it might be nice to see some sort of marvel vs capcom or mugen sort of deal but purely in SW.

In related game release news I did see a trailer for a Super Street Fighter 4. New characters. In development so far as I know but it sure looked promising. There surely are other people here who must be just as happy about this?
