Lightbulb Something to think about...

I received this in my email a little while ago, if anything, it certainly puts some perspective on things...

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness...you are
more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of
imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation ...you
are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest,
torture, or death...you are more blessed than three billion people in
the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof
overhead and a place to sleep...you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a
dish someplace ... you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married ... you are very
rare, even in the United States and Canada.

If you can read this message, you are more blessed
than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

"Who is splendid among men, who is glorious among heroes?"

Just this morning i was talking to some guys in my class about how the world is doing. Never knew it was this bad though...

It was actually more about how humans destroy rainforests, kill animals for 'sports' etc. makes me mad

I tend to agree. There are probably too many people on the planet, all fighting for the same limited resources, and trying to make sense of the lives we've been given. The idea of the haves and have-nots has never really gone away...it has simply become so vast, on a global scale, that nowadays we find it hard to perceive.

I sometimes wonder where it will end, and if, in fact, we will make some of the science fiction of the past few decades into fact. When I watch films like Mad Max and Soylent Green, it is no longer with detachment, but with a real sense that we are heading in that direction.

We are going to have some even more serious issues to confront in the near future, and there will be no easy solutions.

It does put things into perspective, but tomorrow you and I shall go about our daily business without thinking about it. We are all guilty.

Its human nature..

I was just talking to a fellow ay work here about christmas trees and how much longer I think they will let us cut down our own in stead of every getting fake ones.

The world is wasting away right under our feet, does any one care? Not like I'm a tree hugger but it is something to think about.

I have seen shows about Vegas and all the water they use (Pools, huge hotels, grass watering ,yada yada yada) yet it's one of the driest place around. Some sientists beleive Vegas will run out of water in the not to distant future.
