Just got out of the hospital yesterday morning with prescriptions for meds that actually work, only to find out my father effectively cut me off while I was in there, leaving me completely ****ed since now I have no idea how I'm going to be able to afford my meds or doctor's appointments -- especially ****ty since I need those meds if I'm going to be able to work, go to school, or just not go through misery-inducing, possibly life-threatening withdrawal from them.

Sleep. I need sleep.

72+ hours of mostly being awake... with maybe 3 or 4 good hours shut-eye in there... spread out over the 3 days, of course.

I love my girlfriend... but I have to rest tonight. Tried to be there for her last night to help make her more comfortable and feel more secure... but I never actually got any sleep myself.

I'm a bit unstable, though perfectly normal with the right meds. And going off them suddenly, because of say, an inability to afford them, would put me in a far worse situation than if I had never started them at all.

Just sucks since I was completely blindsided by this whole thing. At least if I knew beforehand I could have planned ahead for it.

that sucks man. Maybe if prescription medicines didn't cost so much, you could afford them.

karate classes are the best!

bank teller is becoming a good job i think...just have to work with a bunch of middle-aged+ women. that's the only downside of the job. most of my customers are old deaf people too, so that makes it fun!

John Mayer at work again. He's doing a clinic this morning. It's going to be a zoo. Always is.

But I don't have to work the shift... so I'll avoid it, and only head in once I'm sure it's over.

Finally got some sleep. Not as much as I really need... but it's a start.

One of Japans BWR Nuclear Reactors is having SEVERE issues. Like "radiation levels that are WAAAYYY above normal in their control room" issues. They can't get the coolant pumps going. 2 other reactors are having severe issues as well, but look to be stabilized "soon".

Smartly, Japan has evacuated residents out of those areas. They have also started a MASSIVE Relief Op in the effected N.E. area of the country.

That **** sucks man. It's like the San Fran Quake in the early 1900's in the US. Crazy ****.

Good thing their civil engineers are baller. (As mandated by the government..... )

Correction: Japan's nuclear reactors are doing less well than believed. ;_;

http://www.businessinsider.com/fukus...r-plant-2011-3

According to the latest reports at the bottom of the page, Japanese officials believe Reactor #1 at the Fukushima Nuclear complex may be in the process of a nuclear meltdown. Other reactors that have been damaged may also be at an increased risk of a meltdown.

Serious crap in Japan. whole entire cities and towns wiped out.

My brothers wife (and best friend) have been spouting off right wing rhetoric at me for the last week. I finally got fed up when I would make a reply and they would start personally attacking me. (oh, they were not talking about me, they would say "People" instead of "you") On Facebook. On twitter they would be making snarky comments about Death threats the Elected GOP members of state are receiving and admonishing "violence" created by protesters

Now I got a wedding coming up, and I am severely tempted to invite my brother and his daughter, but not welcome his wife.

Going to be rather sparse on my side of the church

I have heard from all the people my company does business with in Japan, and fortunately they are all OK. Though they were stranded at work when we heard from them.

Happy 10th, ed!

In the summer of 2005, America was facing a full-blown energy crisis, but the Republican Congress was unwilling to do anything that would substantively improve the country's energy efficiency. They wouldn't mandate improved light bulbs. They wouldn't increase CAFE standards. But, alongside billions of dollars in handouts and tax breaks for dirty energy the Frist-Hastert Congress was willing to "save energy" by shortening the portion of the year when Americans are allowed to sleep late.

The rationale for the new daylight savings calendar was that it would reduce energy use by encouraging people to use less electric light, but that assumption hadn't been well tested — and a new study by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) reveals that the policy likely encouraged Americans to use more energy by running heaters and air conditioners more than enough to offset the decreased use of light, and to spend more money doing so

I want your source as a direct link, please.

Not to doubt you, as I know that logically, this is solid. But I want to read it for myself, because I think I can use this in my book as evidence on how the corporations have created and fostered and turned the Republic of the United States of America into the Oligarchy of the United States of America.

uhhh, they weren't gonna tell you to do anything duder, they were gonna tell light bulb manufacturers to start making more energy efficient bulbs. not sure why changing to better bulbs and saving money would raise your ire in the first place tho

usually what you end up seeing is a store has a rebate sale on a bunch of florescent light bulbs

I don't really see why anyone would use regular incandescent bulbs anymore, except that they are cheap

moving again...

tenant upstairs is an a-hole. he got all mad because we were playing with the dogs at 10pm and started stomping on the floor. then we left the dogs out and he wanted to pick a fight with me. note: this guy is a 50 year old disabled man...seirously. he kept calling me names and ****. then he tried kicking the dogs.

and i turned down his offer to fight him. no need for a misdemeanor. it's pretty bad when the cops say you should move out of the neighborhood because apparently the whole block is like that.

So, either reporters in the area have NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING, or the Japanese government is covering the asses of Tokyo Electric Power Co. (The latter more likely than the former, the former can be blamed on the latter) because apparently Japanese nuclear reactors are not "under control".

This, I hope will end well, and not badley. ;_;

even then the extra cost for florescent bulbs is more than made up for by the energy savings and longer life

that would be fine I suppose

but sont most CFL's still have residual mercury meaning I have to pay to dispose of them?

in the u.s. the recycling and disposal fees are included in the price you pay for them as manufacturers are responsible for their products' disposal. and, iirc, home depot has free florescent bulb disposal programs. but, if your state doesn't have disposal laws for them, you can just toss 'em since the amount of mercury in them is negligible. in fact, the decreased power usage means power plants, most notably coal plants, end up emitting less mercury than would be put into the environment otherwise.

as far as the nuclear power plants in Japan are concerned there is a real good article i found that explains things better then the "OHNOES PANIC!" you might hear

The basics are that the Reactors are shut down, and they are attempting to cool down the fuel rods with seawater. Yes the Rods have been exposed causing a partial meltdown. But it is unlikely there is going to be a full meltdown. The recent explosions are caused by a reaction akin to electrolysis of water as it is used for cooling. Hydrogen gas pools on the roof and the venting fans creates a spark, which causes an explosion.

It is bad, 3 mile island bad, but not Chernobyl bad

Any radiation right now that gets into the atmosphere is going to be dispersed to the point of being negligible by the time it hits the US west coast
