Far Cry 2 was done directly by Ubisoft, Crytek had no role in developing it.
Sadly I thought it had the makings of a legitimately awesome game, but needed more sensible NPC respawns, as well as non-hostile NPCs and the option to bribe or negotiate ones way through some checkpoints. I guess I see it as similar to Assassin's Creed 1; an Ubisoft game with some really cool ideas, but with sloppy execution, that has the potential for an amazing sequel if those issues are addressed. Assassin's Creed got a sequel, which did this. Sadly, Far Cry 2 did not. The African setting is underused.
Crysis 2, on the other hand, is, from what I've played (the demo) and seen (other stuff), lacking in new and cool ideas, pulling back into safe, mediocre territory. It fails in an opposite (and IMO worse, though many would disagree) way to Far Cry 2.
Perhaps I just have some odd form of gaming masochism, because I actually kinda enjoyed FC2 despite its glaring flaws. Few other games have allowed me to destroy convoy trucks by leaving a car or two blocking a narrow point in a road, then as the convoy comes to a halt, pop out from behind a rock formation with a missile launcher, blow it up, and hightail it before the convoy's guards could react. Of course few other games made me clear out an enemy base, turn a corner, look back and see that everyone had respawned already...

Well crysis 2 hasn't made me scream aloud and throw things vowing vengeance on ubisoft like far cry 2 did, so... it's not quite into FC2 territory yet

I spent some time playing this game in SP last night, and played some multiplayer this afternoon. The game is gorgeous on many levels. The graphics are breathtaking! Also the game play is amazing due to the crazy jumps you can make using the suit. I am rather glad I bought this game. I had a lot of fun with it today!

Ordered some junk off Amazon.com that showed up today:
Dunno if I told any of you, but since Game Stop does not longer take in original Xbox stuff, we had some customers that left a couple of consoles on the counter and took off. One of them was an original Halo Xbox console. Since I did not have the customer's contact info, I decided to give the system a home. I took it home, and set it up in my bedroom. I even picked up a few original Xbox games from a local used store.
I currently have: Doom 3, The Punisher, Return To Wolfenstein, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Painkiller Hell Wars, From Russia With Love, Mercenaries, Republic Commando, X-Men Legends II, Matrix Path of Neo, Ninja Gaiden Black, Halo, Medal of Honor Front line, Burnout Revenge, Sid Meir's Pirates, Shadow Ops Red Mercury, Shelshock Nam '67, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, and Half Life 2.
Also ordered a Logitech wireless controller which should be showing up tomorrow.

Just bought a Third Generation 32GB iPod Touch. I'm very happy with it so far.

I've yet to play it, other than a couple of rounds in the demo. I'm still disappointed they mashed Strength, Speed, and Armor mode into one.

I've had this for like two weeks now, but I finally sat down and played a big part of it... for like, 11 hours straight.
In the campaign I mostly used auto-resolve for battles. I relied on really big armies to do my dirty work... and I'm no good at managing large armies. I did win a short campaign in less than 20 years, though. So yay me.

Better a job with an uncertain future than no job at all. Though keeping an eye out for other opportunities would probably be wise.

This. A thousand times this. Even if they're only open for another half a year, that's another half a year that I have a job. Plus it's something to have for future applications. The only job I ever had was at my families auto garage, and I got paid off the books there, so I could never list it as previous employment. Now I have something to put down there.
Also, as for keeping my eye out for other opportunities, I have some connections at a casino in the Spa department that I can use once I get my car up and going, but I have no idea how long that will take because I still have no idea what all is wrong with it. I know for a fact it needs a new transmission, tires, and rear windshield, but who knows what else could have gone south since 2007.

This is possibly the most important part. From what I've been hearing from friends and family (can't really speak from experience, since my career has pretty much been university->Army->new job straight out of Army, so I haven't personally gone through the whole career search process), even entry-level jobs at many companies now require work experience, negating the whole meaning of entry-level. Also, work experience from a company not tied to your own family would likely be viewed as more reliable by other employers (whether it actually made a difference or not).
I hope you're able to get the car situation sorted out, I know how annoying that can be. I seem to have absorbed my family's habit of keeping a car for as long as possible, only giving up on repairs once it's going to start costing more to keep alive than it would to just sell it and buy a new car.

Crysis 2 (Steam)
Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Steam)
Halo: Reach (Free)
Eating With The Enemy (Kindle)
This book has an incredibly high rating for books. 56 Five-stars, 4 Four-stars, and only one requisite rage One-star. I'm anxious to dig into it later today.

Got it on sale, ended up being just under $12 shipped.
Also got a pretty nice exercise bike for free from my cousin, because it was just taking up space in his garage.
And for non physical very good things, hit a new personal record for a single benching at 245, feels good man.

Now THIS...is a very good thing.
Dice on Battlefield 3:
“PC is the leading platform, conceptually, for this game, definitely. We are going to make this game on 360 and PlayStation 3 as well, [but] we need to scale it down to those platforms. The PC players are going to love to hear that I’ve said that, but that is a fact. The hardware specs, on the console, are limited. At the same time, for each iteration on these console platforms we can utilise the power of them better and better, so what we do on the other platforms is going to be amazing, and look much better on the PC, too. There’s going to be unique features on the PC version of this game, some of which I think people are going to be very pleased about. I can’t reveal all of them here, but I can reveal that there will be a lot of extra love put into the PC version of this product.”

Random thought. Crysis 2 is to Crysis 1 as Splinter Cell Double Agent is to Chaos Theory.
If you're a fan of Splinter Cell like I am, you may be able to see that this is a mixed, bad thing. It feels wrong, it loses some of it's visual themes, and it just feels like a step in the wrong direction.

I still anticipate the only PC exclusive features will be "Mouse Support" and "Selectable Resolution".

DX11 support, DX10 is REQUIRED. 64 players versus the console's 24. Certain to be stellar graphics on a level much above the 360 or PS3. I'm updating my computer around the idea that it's either PC or bust, even though I fully enjoy BFBC2 on my 360.
Additionally they haven't shown any console footage, it's all been PC.
Trust me, from what they've said, what they've shown, and from what I expect, this is a PC game with console ports. You know, for BFBC2 they took the stance of "PC, 360, and PS3 are all on equal grounds, we put the same amount of care into each one." That resulted in some bleh UI choices, if anything. This time they're coming out and saying that they hold the PC above the consoles. Which makes sense.
