Uhh...Bioware did have separate animations for FemShep in ME 1 but the hip movements were utterly ridiculous. In ME 2 they went to other other extreme: wouldn't you complain to have female animations for MaleShep? I know I would...
It seems like a cheap excuse for not being able to holster a weapon...I'd never thought I'd complain about animations in a game but this is very annoying both from an RP and a general gameplay/camera point of view. They've added several other animations which we could have done without while not even noticing their absence (yay jump across gaps, rolls in every direction, multiple other animations during cutscenes, etc).
...and the demo does not bode well for rpg players: where did the dialog option went? (I tried only RPG and Story gameplay options). I hope I'm wrong but I fear that while trying to please everyone, multiplayer, solo, action and rpg fans, the game will not be truly satisfying to anyone. I know it's a demo but I only got a few dialog choices (even less than in the DA2 demo ) and I could choose between two extremes only.

I never said it was a good or valid move, that's just my take on what their reasoning will be if pressed on it based on the quote from Brenon Holmes where he emphasises the doubling up of animations for FemShep. You are right in that the actual cause is all the stupid crap they added to ME3 like the stabby stabby, rolling and ladder climbing, but you don't think they'll admit to that do you?

I posted earlier that a dev directly addressed this issue when people complained about it on the official site. Supposedly this is not representative of the final game, with other conversations having more options. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

@ D3: It's not just the Femshep walk/run animation that's horrid, the male shep and npc walk/run animation looks pretty strange to me too... in the ME3 demo I mean, I don't remember it being bad in previous games, but in the demo things did seem pretty off.

I can see myself getting horribly addicted to the multiplayer element (didn't expect that to be honest). Only two maps but i just can't stop playing. damn, infiltrators are so much fun!

Btw, anyone knows if we will be able to play the PC version offline? Not only the Origin things sucks by itself and by principle but I will be traveling to weird places again (the kind of place where an internet connection is still hardly accessible...and when it works it's at about 10kbs -it's not a typo-) for about a month at mid-march...

The demo works offline for PC, so the game likely should too. I imagine it'll be like Steam in that regard.

Oooh! I just found the offline button thanks to you.
I guess I haven't been exploring enough: it must be my natural aversion for origins

The whole need for Origins is why I still haven't downloaded the ME3 demo, but perhaps playing the ME3 demo would make me more anxious for the game.

What is the big deal with Origins? verse Steam?
I don't understand how having Origins would stop you from buying a game you will enjoy?

It's a far more insidious piece of malware than Steam. Google it - you won't have to look far to find a whole bunch of dodgy stuff related to it. Not to mention their EULA is absolutely ridiculous. It is the very model of heavy-handed, draconian practices by publishers.

Thanks Darth for answering that for me! I just don't see the point in getting all this stupid Origins stuff just to play a demo, when I will probably find some sort of work around for the requirement of Origin for the actual game anyways and won't use the Origins then either.
I don't really have a problem with Steam, it's nice, I suppose.

Here's the CG trailer I posted a teaser of the other day:
Apparently a director's cut version comes out Tuesday (dunno why they didn't just post that to start with).

Given that it's like three weeks until release in Europe, and we've seen all there is to see UNTIL release, this cinematic trailer didn't phase me. It didn't change my opinion on the game at all. To be honest, it just served as a pretty cinematic.
Don't really see the need, but meh. I'm a buzzkill with these sorts of things.
EDIT: I also don't understand the whole 'Director's Cut' business in trailers. I've only ever seen it once before with the DA2 cinematic trailer, and that also confused me. Why not just release the whole thing?
EDIT2: Bioware thinks we will be fine with non-intrusive DRM

At least in this case, the original cut was shown as a TV advert in the US. But yeah, not sure why you wouldn't just post the extended version on the net to begin with rather than waiting an extra day or two. Doesn't make much sense to me, but then nothing that PR types do does.
In any event, here is the extended cut version:
Oh, and here's IGN's Rewind Theater analysis of it:

The reason for the cut and uncut has to do with two things.
1- bought commercial air time.
2- the uncut version was the original version but then they had to edit so it would fit the time window for the commercial.
This is why there were two versions.

We know why there are two versions, it just doesn't make sense to release them separately when they could've easily released both versions at the same time, one version that was shown on TV and another version shown on the interweb and both versions available one with the title at the end saying "TV spot"
...it's common practice already since... well... forever.

Mass Effect 3 DLC leaked/announced and will be available in March. Surprise, surprise....
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/n...ails-leak.html
Remember "The Exiled Prince"? This is beginning to smell more and more of another DA2.
EDIT: I have a few bones to pick with this DLC. A Prothean squad member?! Let me guess: He's been in stasis on some forgotten world for the last 50,000 years, just waiting for Shepard to come and rescue him and then pledging his undying loyalty to help save the galaxy from the Reapers which destroyed his people...
How would he communicate with anyone? Shepard might understand the Prothean language, but he can't speak it. I’ll bet he’s some kind of super-smart type who can learn an entire language just be hearing a few words of it. Can’t wait to see how the geniuses at Bioware/EA are going to explain this one.

That's pretty old news. The DLC first cropped up a month or so ago, but we've known about Prothy (as he is affectionately known) for 6 months or more. He/she/it was first accidentally revealed when the original collector's edition box art was unveiled, before being hastily removed. Since then Bioware/EA has been adamant that it was just a "concept" and that he wasn't in the game, but we all know what the word of one of their mouthpieces is worth these days. I think more may have been revealed in the script that leaked a month or two ago, but I have steered clear of any of that info myself to avoid spoilers.

Odds are this DLC character is going to be treated like Sebastian from Dragon Age II (free if you preordered or better yet, preordered the Collectors edition (which I did), but full price if you just got retail).

It's included as part of the collector's edition (retail and digital), but otherwise, no, it won't be free. And if you think that's bad, you don't want to know about all the pre-order bonuses....

Who in their right mind would buy all of that stuff, never mind pay $870 for it?

Since when did EA give something away for free, especially for brand new games?

Hmm....never heard of this Prothy before now, though not surprised. Frankly, any DLC ready to be released with the game ought to just be in the game. I know....their product, their choice....but after awhile you just risk alienating your fanbase. While it'd be ridiculous to expect free stuff, it's really cheap of them to nickle and dime you at any/every turn. Afterall, not like we're only paying $10-20 for the game.

With the DLC content (not items) like the one in ME3 on launch -
I know people see it that it should be free because people think it would be in the game but the reason it was made in the first part was because they were going to be charging for it. The money you pay for that DLC covers the development and production cost of that DLC content.
If they didn't charge for it then what you would get either-
-The content not making it into the game,or
-The content getting crammed into the game where it will feel unpolished and other sections of the game could suffer due to it
I think some people forget that making a game this size means a good deal of money and there is a budget. To get DLC content green lighted for production means that the EA or what ever company that holds the purse strings needs to see how this will bring money in.

LoL...Yeah marketing can get a little wild.
Someone got creative, I just hope they thought about what happens when it lands (hopefully on land verse water,...or in on a highway.......doh!).
I wouldn't be surprised if they have a EA rep -someone's job is to be there to determine who got there first and gets the game (I'm assuming they are xbox 360 copies). I know the games are inside some protective case so most likely you will need a key to open them, enters EA rep.

Yeah. San Francisco and Las Vegas will have their games hit land due to the wind patterns of the U.S. Berlin, and Paris will probably land on land as well, (Berlin is landlocked, and Paris isn't near a large body of water). Sidney's and New York's will most likely land in their respective oceans. London's, I'm unsure of.
