I am so glad I am avoiding the news. I get tired of them rehashing the same story different ways and even the mis-information, and speculation is verging on insanity.

And it looks my FLGS is closing, after the death of the owner. I now have no place nearby to buy my games or RPG material. Not to mention the game store was where I usually went for my D&D game.

Time to invest and become a small-business owner!

In other news: Huge stuff going down at M.I.T. as I type. Possible suspect sighting. Confirmed shooting of a police officer. The area is swarming with cops.

I'm not sure what to make of my city at the moment...

maybe playing with a light bright might calm you down? (Yes, Bad joke!)

And yes Ed, my wife and I talked it over briefly. We don't have the money to buy a game store, let alone run one. If i got a business degree, and filed for a loan to open one up, I would do it. I would actually be happy

I got confirmation that I will be going to WLC!!!!!!!!

Saw 'The Evil Dead' last night, it was alright i guess...i never saw the original the whole way through, but it was a little similar except way more gore obviously. lol

Also, I got an advisor from my college working with me finally...got some good classes set up for fall...effective speaking, college algebra, intro to computer applications, intro to sociology, and intro to psychology. 8am-2:30pm. monday, wednesday, and friday. much better schedule than i had last year.

Pfff... Russian TV just said that two guys from Russia (Northern Caucasus) now being suspected for those terrorist actions in Boston. I guess that US will blame Russia in "wrong policy in Caucasus" soon. That should be fun...

Hmmm... doubt it. The two brothers involved are known to be Chechen nationals, but with possible al-Qaeda connections is the current working theory.

One is dead, the other is on the run, armed and possibly wearing a vest wired with explosives. They killed a number of police last night in a shoot out.

My ENTIRE city is in a total lockdown situation currently. I woke up to find myself in an active war zone this morning...

edlib, wow... be careful there...

Anyway, now media says a lot of different information. Once they says that these brothers are Chechens, in next moment they says that they has Turkish citizenship, and also they just told that they are Kyrgizian refugees.

I think they'll find him, whether they take him alive or not I think is the issue. Definitely amateurs, no exit plan? I am insanely curious about their motivation.

It's pretty crazy right now. Nothing is moving except a huge army of cops and national guards.

I can't imagine he'll get away. He's 19, and desperate, with over 6,000 armed law enforcers and the ENTIRE state of Massachusetts looking for him and only him. He's bound to mess up.

But, it could get a LOT messier before it gets better.

Maybe now I can start feeling a little less "on edge" all the time.

Back to work tomorrow.

Well... that was 5 of the least relaxing days off I've ever had...

glad it's over and they captured him instead of killed him. now we can all go back to passing gun control laws and making more criminals.

actually R15, congress decided not to pass any more gun control laws. So just give everyone more guns and hopefully they will be able to sort things out themselves.

heaven forbid we have an entire city locked down because of gun violence

However, they do require extensive training, a minimum age-limit, licensing, insurance, and state/ federal registration in order to own and use them legally.

The majority of car deaths and injuries are the unintended results of accidents while using them for their primary purpose. A fractional minority are intentional.

Can the same things be said about guns?

The primary purpose of a gun is to accelerate a deadly projectile to supersonic speeds with high accuracy.

The primary purpose of a car is to transport people and goods.

But perhaps we should treat car ownership the same way as gun ownership... Since some people are always bound to break the laws regarding car operation, then applying any laws to using and owning cars is a pointless and annoying exercise to those of us who are responsible car owners.

And the world we will find ourselves living in, where any 14 year old untrained, unlicensed, and uninsured yahoo with a couple hundred bucks could walk into a car auction, and get into his unregistered junker and immediately get on the road with the rest of us would be a much better, much more free one for us all... don'tcha think?

Why should it be easier and less complicated to get my hands on a gun than to get behind the wheel? The potential for mayhem is about the same... At the moment, all that's being asked is a couple minutes of paperwork, and a computer check to see if you have a known criminal background, or a known history of mental illness.

And, here's some statistics for thought: http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a..._shooting.html

i think it should be everybody's responsibility to own a gun. we're all going to die sooner or later anyway, 911 isnt going to save your life, that number is only used after the deed has already been done and to bring whoever responsible to justice, when it could have been prevented to begin with had victim been utilizing the 2nd amendment rights. cowards don't go after hard targets.

you are five times more likely to be killed by a gun used by an intimate acquaintance

Having a gun in the home makes it three times more likely that you or someone you care about will be murdered by a family member or intimate partner.

I don't think "More guns" is a good answer to the gun control issue.

Personally, if we really want to follow the constitution, the only gun owners should be those in a government sanctioned militia, but that is another can of worms

2nd amendment was made to protect people from government, not the other way around. nor was it to protect hunters...

im getting a sidearm when i get home, concealed carry. america is probably going to fall apart in the next decade, might as well be prepared for the crazies.

That is not the common legal interpretation of the 2nd amendment. Most supreme court cases have ruled the 2nd amendment allows an individual right to bear arms, or form militia's. there is NOTHING that has been ruled to allow people to own weapons JUST for protection against their government

I believe that almost everybody (besides convicted felons and mentally ill) has the right to self defense, unless you all want police and national guardsmen patrolling 24/7, i also think there should be a required course to go through so you have to test out on knowledge of what you can and cannot do with whatever firearm you desire to carry. and open carry should be completely allowed. sure i know i did state that people can get them illegally, etc. but at least going through a course and having paperwork stating and signed by yourself that you won't use it in self-defense unless absolutely deemed necessary to protect lives. by having that paperwork you should be able to buy whatever guns you want, and as many as you want and you just have to renew the certification every year, basically take a knowledge course of what your legal rights in using it are.

but, idk it sounds like you're just mad because your wife won't let you have a gun.

It's not about self defense anymore. IMHO, there is NO REASON for a CITIZEN to own a full auto 50 clip Assault Rifle. Zero need. You can defend yourself just find with a pistol or a semi automatic rifle.

Besides, you think that if a revolution went off in this country, the military would REALLY be afraid of a few thousand people with AR's? We can FLY A BOMBER from Missouri to South Korea, non stop, and drop "Dummy" bombs with pin point accuracy. Think about that. The government of the U.S. would CURB STOMP any militia. So don't bring up "defending against the government" because the government can seriously **** up your ****. I mean, we can launch missiles from a destroyer and land them within 10 ft. of a target. Or the Drones. Or the Air Force. We don't even need boots on the ground to seriously demoralize or scatter any force on the planet.

Assault Rifles should only be in the hands of S.W.A.T and military forces. No civilian needs anything that goes full auto. That's insane.

Yesterday was the longest day at work I've had in a long time. A 90 minute show somehow ran into 2 and a half hours... and the whole day was chaos and stress. A great way to go back to "life as normal" in Boston.

At least I have today off... which seems weird, considering all the days we had off recently... but, according to my schedule, I'm working the next 13 days in a row... some of them 12+ hour shifts. And I might (probably will...) be working more days in a row beyond that... but those schedules haven't been posted yet.

pretty happy person right now...

got my student loan paid off in full!!!! in less than a year. hoping that does something healthy with my credit score.

got accepted back into college...cannot wait to go. also my benefits got approved, so no more paying to go to school.....

and i am kind of making plans on saving money to buy a house. cash. yes. cold hard cash, no mortgage bs. figure i could get one and then get a friend or 2 and have them pay me rent. or i could just get a VA home loan...kicking the idea around, not set on it just yet...that goal i'll take care of in like 5 or 6 years probably if i get a reenlistment bonus.

been chatting with this one chick i met over a free online dating site, she seems genuinely interested in me. i'll see where that all goes when i get home. haha

other good things to report....not too much other than i am happy with how my this deployment is affecting my life in a very good way.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.
