I approve of this immensely. Hope a patcher version will come around eventually, as that was the primary bane of the original USM.

I assume you mean to model them? Most were made with 3dsMax or gMax.

Also, nice to bring out the veteran members!

Well, some of you should make a tutorial for modeling these hilts, because the tutorials in the modeling section aren't really helpful. Hopefully with the tutorials, I will be able to contribute.

I think I'll end up putting up a tutorial of how I 3d model, though it would likely be 3ds Max only. And I'll keep up a thread for how others do it, so that if one method doesn't work well for you, you could check out how someone else does it.

Just as a progress update, I've finally finished up the models for the last of the lightsabers, with slow progress due to real life™. But I should be able to have the last of the sabers finished up and sent to VP relatively quickly

Hey VP & TG, just for compatibility sake, before I release the Juhani mod (which has these sabers in it), are you going to re-number them when Quanon submits them for this mod? Right now they are g_w_dblsbr063.uti & g_w_dblsbr064.uti. If they are going to need to be re-numbered, I'd like to change them in the Juhani mod, so that they won't conflict later on. Thx

Edit: never mind. I forgot that this was a TSL saber mod. I need sleep.

Out of curiousity, did you ask Quanon about the Hilt we used in his tribute mod?
I should still have it if you need it.

Update finally

I'll be only converting 10 single and 10 double hilts from Qui-Don Jorn's collection. These are his favorite hilts so instead of converting all 100 of them, I figure we can add a good amount now to assure a release within my lifetime, and then if demand is high, we can always add them in a second version.

Special thanks to QDJ for exporting the hilts which now (other than modeling them) is the most tedious part of the process.

Anywho, this will ensure a much more focused release (and it will probably be released sooner).

No, all I did for those was to shorten the original blue default hilt by knocking off a few centimeters in the grip area. It's the same model, just shorter.

Ah, the wonders of vertex editing.

Hey VarsityPuppet, I wanted to drop by and show my support for the awesome work you have been putting in for this mod. You're adding a prominent new feature which would be a great way to revive the game for a lot of people. You've always had a good sense for what this game needs more of, and I really applaud you for coming out of your modding repose to do this mod. Keep up the good work!!

Rooting for this.

Voted for Community Lightsaber Project. "USM 2" doesn't seem appropriate cause it's so many others work together. Masters of "TSL" doesn't automatically denote a saber mod..so difficult to find in a search. "Advanced Systems Lightsabers"...meh. But "Community Lightsaber Project" is new and unique...and the acronym "CLP" looks good. "TSL:CLP"!

UPDATE:

Well, after a long, tiring semester of school kicking my ass, I've returned to the interwebz world.

What's the plan?

To consolidate the Saber system and release what I have so far. I'll work on adding KDJ's sabers over time. Ultimately, we cut down the number of his sabers involved. We limited it to his favorites, which I believe is for the better overall.

There are things I know people won't like, but this is the reason I'm trying to develop tools to help ease this sort of stuff. We shouldn't be wasting time doing menial work anymore.

Also, I'd like to get this out so I can qualify for Mod of the Year 2013. It's a superficial reason, but it'll make me push it out faster maybe..

Anyways. Fun.

Well, I could always rig an extra 20 if you think it should release with more, lol.

Well, ..lol, thing is I think I'm running out of double-bladed models to use since I always seemed to make single-bladed more often. T'was easier.

Ah, no need to, KDJ. Eventually, maybe (big maybe) I'll get around to converting all of your hilts to saber console. I'm sure it'll still take a hella long time to run them all through the replacer, but still. There are still ways I could streamline my saber tool to make it easier (at least in terms of generating UTI files).

As a side note, I have the utis for your single sabers done (the items). All I need now is to make the hilts, and then do the same for the doublesabers.

And then add them all to the dlg. And then copy the icons for them all. And add them all to the upcrystals.2da

It shouldn't be hard to make it with TSLPatcher.
If you have a mod that doesn't.
Make the set up with the change.ini info.rtf tslpatchdata folder
Add everything in and use the ChangeEdit.exe to modify the changes ini file
Then edit to install files to override.
Run TSLPatcher and your set togo.
(I've done this for 3 mods i got that did not have tslpatcher and yay it worked)

@redrob41
OMG those double saber hilts are amazing *-*

Very small request.
Black Lightsaber Crystal (black core with white shimmer)
Pink Saber Crystal
And 2 single hilts from TFU
The one from the Jedi Ceremonial Robe (http://goo.gl/0VvmC8)
and the hilt you get from wearing the Sith Stalker outfit. (http://goo.gl/bLHCTG)

Black Lightsaber crystal is... hard to do. It's possible, but it looks ****ty.

Pink Saber Crystal is included.

Don't know if any more saber hilts will be included. I'm working on just getting them out.

I'm making the tools first though.

Yeah, black core sabers don't show up right on account of the .txi files not being "correct".
They just look like doo doo. Gave up on them a long time ago.

It'd be pretty easy to do yourself. Take the black saber texture files and just rename it to that of the color you want replaced. It won't look too professional as all the saber icons will still be the original color (unless you want to do a similar process with those)

It is not out yet. When it is out, it will be posted in the release section which is called Taris Upper City Emporium.

I'm going to run through the sabers again so I can test out how well my Duplisaber installer does.

The past couple weeks I've been looking into GFF and 2DA parsing which ultimately gives me a ton more flexibility when it comes to making this mod.

In fact, I might even be able to make a mod manager/installer to go with this. It's going to be way easier than using TSLPatcher, that's for sure... :/

Before I go and redo this stuff though, I need to know what we can settle on for colors. It's easy to duplicate and make each variation, but to add one color means I have to go through and run EVERY file through Duplisaber again.

Here's where I'm at for colors:

Blue
Red
Green
Yellow
Purple
Bronze
Orange
Cyan - Light Blue (color of Cyan in the game)
Viridian - Silvery Turquoise
Silver - Silvery Cyan
Magenta - Vivid Pink
LightGreen - Yellow Green
Turquouise - Bluish Green
Indigo - Dark Purple
Crimson - Silvery Red
White - Just white
Amethyst - Silvery Purple

Seem alright for colors? More? Do you want as many as Crixler had planned (30?)

I think what you have now is fine. The Basic Colors and then their "Silvery" counterparts. Also, will Viridian be just a higher quality of the Viridian present in game as that's what I'm hoping for cause it's easily my favorite color for sabers.

Viridian will be closer to its actual color. Emerald will be the 'old' Viridian since that particular color is much closer to emerald.

I mean, really, just make the icons (Hilt and Saber) and the saber texture colors and just make sure they match in terms of color (somewhat).
