Build your own MP-Jedi

Hi! As it's possible to distribute force powers in multiplayer, I'd like to hear your opinions on distribution from what you know about force powers from reviews/trailers so far.

AFAIK there are the following powers:
Healing
Speed
Push
Pull
Confuse(will it be in mp?)
Jump
Grip
Lightning
Saber Throw
(Force Absorb ?)

(I got those out of a gaming mag, so be free to correct me if there are more/less.)

So Imagine you got 12 points to distribute, where'd you put them?

I think for Lightsaber only I'd choose:
Saber Throw: 2 points (I actually don't like lvl. 3's homing attribute)
Push:3 points (defense against Grip/Saber throw etc.)
Grip:3 points (gotta love it )
Jump and speed:1 point (for evasion purposes)
Healing: 2 points (might come in handy)

For games where other weapons are allowed I'd prolly chose:
Pull: 3 points (Come here,bastard ! )
Push:3 points (see above)
Speed:2 points (to get to a range-weapon-equipped enemies faster)
Healing: 2 points (see above)
Saber Throw: 2 points (see above)

Now go ahead, it's your turn !

Is pull like jk1's pull, how he pulls the gun or is it like pulling the WHOLE guy to you?

I doubt ill be throwing my Sabor often cause it leaves u defenceless.... so id keep that low..

My favorite force so far is the grip but only because the trailor has turned me to the darkside *muhaha* So id have my grip pretty high. Sence i havnt played yet im not gonna go into exact lvl of all the force skills cause i dont know what each lvl will do cause i havnt read anything that detailed....

I think it depends on the number of points you invest.
But I hope there'll be some way to just pull the weapon at lvl.3,too.

Both, you can either unarm an opponent or pull all of your opponent towards you. (probably gets decided on wether you're aiming at the gun or not)

I'm glad that you cannot pull a lightsaber away

It would suck if 3 people were in a room and 2 were dueling and the other Force Pulled player 2's saber away and give player 1 a easy kill

This sounds like a cool idea, but wouldn't it turn this game into role playing game. I would rather leave the game as is, a pure action game!

Nah, makes it more fun lol, and besides not all Jedi were equally balanced in all their skills as well, I'm sure that one Jedi is a better force jumper than another one. So being able to completely customise Force power settings&levels makes it all the more fun.

What I don't really get when I watch the last movie is one part you see the player pull a storm trooper to himself and hack him down with the light saber...or am I seeing things?

*sigh* As it's been stated many times before, you can now pull either the weapon.. or the weapon's wielder (along with the weapon ofcourse lol) towards yourself now.

Jedimaster74.... The SP version of the game is Action/RPG if u want pure action play Doom...... hehe. I think earning the Force lvls in SP will rock and make it far more fun and give u more freedom to be the jedi that u wanna be. And for multiplayer its not like u have to Earn it. U just toss points into whatever u want for the fight. U can change them whenever i imagine. The more options they give u in a game the more fun it is and the longer it stays fun... Once u have done everything there is to do in a game thats when it gets boring so the best way to go is just make it so theres never a way to do everything (by giving tons of player freedom) This IMHO was a good decision and it is what they did in JK1 and it rocked.

How is it a Rpg? Well theres a story line to it and as u advance in the game is how u decide what side of the force u will use. Its not just mindless killing all the way through the game so there is a RPG aspect to the game. Pure action is **** like Doom, where the only purpose is to kill.

Rpg to many is the game giving u the ability to make decisions other then just "should i shoot him in the head or the nuts?" In JO u get to decide how u distribute your powers and i imagine theres alot of other aspects in the game play where you can make decisions that change your character.

Diablo is a rpg for the same reason. has alot of killing in it but u get to distribute points and pick what spells and skill u get. And theres a story line that u follow. That is a Rpg in my mind. And final fantasy is In my words Tactical/rpg

Yeah I agree with you about how the more options they give you the more replayability the game will be. From What I heard the SP will have a lot of challenging puzzles in it.

Nooooo.. As a hardcore RPG fan I beg of you all not to call a game an RPG just because it has changeable stats. Diablo 2 is, whatever your stats are, a pure fighting game. Final Fantasy too. As I see it, in an RPG you have choice, such as playing without fighting and still have a great experience. A role playing game should also make you feel as if you were the role you play and therefore needs an extensively developed storyline.

Planescape: Torment is an excellent RPG, Fallout 2 is another.

Now, when Ive finally cooled down, I can live again =)

Oh dont get me wrong i wasnt tagging it as a full blown Rpg. I love Rpgs also and this has Rpg aspects to it. I was just saying its not just a mindless killing game that most action games are. Having the option to decide how your character will grow gives it the Rpg feal to me. ofcourse in a full blown Rpg the choices are endless on how u will advance your avatar but this definently has a RPG feal to me IMHO.

Ok "idiot" your saying that from start to finish when u play the game all u do is walk around killing non stop with no story and your character has no role in the world? There are no players to communicate with and you dont get to Control how your character developes? Is that what your saying? Cause all of which i have just said are aspects that every single RPG has in it. So shut yer hole.

And i wasnt refering to MP.... ofcourse MP will be mindless killing.

3page has a tendancy to flame anyway, but i don't usually.... but if you say cos it has choices it's an rpg that's means anything with choices is an rpg... like doom

Well i just found out that in Sp the light/dark side is pre determined so u cant pick and roleplay what side your on. that kinda bummed me out. not just decisions but character development behind a good story always gets me in the Rp mood. A good story and character options/development is how are some basic things that make up a RPG. lets just drop this already rofl i was just stating my opinion and from now on i think i just wont =P

NP, but usually people will easily accept your opinion... honest, here we won't flame (xept 3page and MJ) but either way it still is an action mainly because in mp you jsut kill peope but i think we can all agree on this.......... it's a fps/action with rpg elements.. fine

I'm the countering type that doesn't like having alot of force powers so i would do the following most of the time:

Push: 2
Pull: 2
Sight: 1
Absorb: 2

That would handle all my countering needs unless i'm playing dark side, i would then just for fun asuming i light place these powers to my list:

Mind Trick: 3
Saber Throw: 2

If dark side i would place the following:

Saber Throw: 2
Lightning: 2
Grip: 3

Yes, level 3 grip, nothing less.

I hope they keep the highest amount around 12 cuz any higher would lose diversity between players.

Post Hummmm

Well, if light/dark side power counter each other. I'll definitely go with the light side. I could be a cleric for my team with my healing abilities. But I still want both push and pull force powers.

What ever the force powers are I'm planning to defend myself with most of them

Jump 1 ( a jump even though rocket jumping will be in there too)

Push 3 (pushing away saberists and rockets)

Pull 2 (Pulling weapons away from players if level 3 pulls the entine player{might be aimed no clue yet} if level 3 pulls the enemy then I don't want to get them close to me)

Sight 3 (note can dodge sniper rifle shots at level 3 and can see players auras through walls--- great defense against players that like 3rd person camping around corners)

Speed 3 ( making it more difficult for saberists to get close or gunners to hit me their weapons )

saber throw 0 ( none if possible, don't plan on using the saber much if playing as a gunner... if playing a saber I'll probally go dark side and go with level 2---don't like homming ability)

mindtrick 0 ( No point Im gonna have seeing on all the time )

Light side powers

Absorb 3 ( I'm homing level 3 will render force pull users of level 3 not to be able to pull me or my weapons. Also against force Grip)

Heal X (depending on whether its an instant heal like picking up a health pack or a gradual heal like in diablo2 where it slowly increased health) If instant then 3 if not then who knows

if chosing the Darkside path

Grip 3 ( grip and dropping people into voids seems fun )

Rage 3 ( hack and slash fun )

Lightning 2 ( sustained lightning attack to 1 target, better use of my force pool in my opinion then to have level 3 and to be attacking many targets )

Im suring Im missing some and might have added force absorb.. who knows but I'll be playing a well defended gunner type Jedi to take the game seriously.. and probally a Dark Saberist just for messing around and as a side thing
