Importing models into 3dsm/gmax

Ive decided, after doing some basic low poly modling, that I should try making a model for JO. I would like to start by importing a model and being able to see what it looks like, etc. before I actually start on creating my own, and I was wondering how I would go about importing JO models into gmax. My 3D experience has all been on 3DSM (man I wish I had a copy of that) but Im assuming that gmax is more or less the same?

gmax is almost the same....
but: it has no rendering option and other stuff is missing too...
so gmax is just 3dsmax without the things you dont need for game modelling

there's no way to import/export models now... we all have to wait til raven releases the sdk
