Why are C3PO and R2D2 in E2?

After all the complaints...
now for something completely different.
Well, not really.

But I've read some posts asking why the droids were in this movie at all. I remember an interview with George Lucas where he said something about an older Samurai-movie, where the whole story about nobles, warriors and kings is told from the viewpoints of the lowest class, peasants and servants. An idea he liked and copied. That makes up for a reason.

I'm just wondering - how will the droids get of the last planet?

If you're referring to Geonosis, they did get off the planet. They were there when Anakin and Padme were married.
