The best way I've found to do it is to host your own multiplayer game. press 'SHIFT+~' to bring up the command window and type 'devmap ' then what ever map you want to use. This enables the commands for the game. I generally use the deathstar map because of it's range of light values gives me virtually every lighting condition.

After your in the game use these commands to work the camera.

cg_thirdpersonrange **
in & out

cg_thirdpersonangle ***
left & right

cg_thirdpersonvertoffset +/-**
up & down

So basically the commands would look like this,...

devmap ffa_deathstar
cg_thirdpersonangle 180
cg_thirdpersonrange 70
cg_thirdpersonvertoffset -15

As always try experimenting to get the best results.
