Question The Jedi family

I was wondering...

Since Jedi are found when they are infants through their increased force sensitivity this means these children occur randomly from normal parents. So if two (forgive me if this has been discussed) Jedi were to get married (i know its forbidden) or a jedi and a human (ani and padmé) does this mean their child would be exceptionally strong in the force? e.g Luke

just a supposition......

comments?

For death and glory. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time! Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath! Now for ruin! And the Red Dawn!

Not really. Sometimes yes sometimes no. Anis mom wasnt strong with the Force. But then the Midiclorians were who made Ani. But there are plenty of Jedi without them interbreeding. A Jedi needed to be clear minded and undistracted. No love obligations ment they could go anywhere, do anything, at any time without any worries other than their mission and the Order. In EU Luke changes the rule cause I guess Its not really nessesary then or maybe he discovered that love can strengthen one in the Force. I dunno I havent read much EU. Leia and Han have twins who are strong in the Force cause of Leia. Luke and Mara have a kid and he is strong in the Force. But hes not twice as strong. I mean when 2 parents who are 2 meters tall have a kid, does the kid become 4 meters tall? No cause genes and the Force dont work that way fortunately. Its passed down whether 1 or 2 parents have it. Now if both parents are best talented in a certain part of the Force then a child will also be more talented in that way. If the parents are best talented in different ways then the kid has a chance of getting both talents. Which is better. Maybe thats what Luke figured out. Jedi interbreeding means more talents for each new Jedi.
Just a thought. In the EU context of course. Just dont compare it to the movies. Other than that its all cool.

May the Force be with you...

now in my opionion all the books should be made into movies so we can keep seeing the saga continue on the big screen and it doesn't mean that if 1 or both of the parents are strong in the force that child will be strong in the force if a fantastic singer has a child does that mean the child will be a fantastic singer? no it doesn't. you can come to your own conclusions on this matter

not really at least the first 10-12 books don't really talk that much about the old republic or what happened between the events of the ot and when it comes to length it would be like lonesome dove or other shows of the like which i think would be neat being that i am a major star wars fan and seen all three original movies in the theaters many times over and same with the new movies

Well, it's probably somewhat true because we know Luke has to be more powerful than Anakin, otherwise why would the Emperor want to replace Vader with Luke ?

He wanted to replace Vader by Luke on a long term thing, 'cause Vader is still useful. Like After Vader dies Luke replaces him officially.

Well i think that LUke is more talented than Anakin (Skywalker)

Anyway, in Rogue PLanet, there is an old jedi woman who claims that she has been married and has sons, ans she says Yoda cannot understand kids becasue he hasnt.

(this break with EPII since Yoda seems to be the trienr of ALL little jedi.)

SO maybe jedi can Marry, but onlt masters and with the consent of the council and after they have proven that they can.

ANyways dooku left the order. HE could have married.

"The Force" and the ability to use it as a Jedi does is defiantly a hereditary trait. If the parent has it then its pretty sure their kid will have it. A bit like asthma I guess :P

I believe that the reason behind the Jedi ‘no love / kids’ rule is because there were so many Jedi at the time. If there were pumping out the kids then there would be way to many people that could use the force, which could be dangerous. This way the Jedi academy can enlist all the gifted ones and keep it all in the family, as it were.

p.s. If anyone wants to know about the dangers of taking children away from their natural parents at a young age do some reading on the Australian aborigines in the 1950s and 60s. Otherwise known as the “Stolen Generation”.

Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're and astronaut on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."
Try this on for size.

I think the no love thing is because of the bindings a family has. Jedi could be threatened by menacing their families. Anyway, if the link between Master-Apprentice is almost the same as Parent-son, the emotional behaviour after a loss should be the same...

Quoting Mace Windu, i think that there are not enough Jedi to protect the republic....

George Lucas said in an interview with--I'm not sure, but I'm thinking Maxim... it sounds like something that'd be in Maxim --that, while Jedi cannot marry, the Code does not forbid casual sex. The marriage thing is a matter of emotional attachment, not celibacy; so long as a Jedi has no emotional attachment with their sex partner, they can... make little Jedi...

This isnt exactly true, some parents just leave their children at the jedi academy and then they are taken by master Yoda to be trained. They learn to be strong with the force, it isnt always just from birth.
