Unhappy I'm Leaving

Anyone collect Star Wars action figures? I recently found some Clone Wars series figures. Just wondering if anyone in RSN collects.

I collect every once in a while, like if i see a good deal on figures, yeah i pick some up.....but now it's mostly been games.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

Cool Guy Moth city

I collect spaceships. Models, toys, real ones...Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica...big ships and small ships, bad ass ships and cool-looking ships, ships you've never seen before and never will (unless I finally get a digi-cam.) The only Star Wars figure I own is the 'A-wing fighting pilot dude' at the helm of my 'power of the force' series starfighter Thrustweasel. The pilot is irrelevant--the cockpit is scratch-built, I've *made a few modifications of my own* and detail-painted the entire thing. It's more of a model than a toy at this point.

As for Kjolen leaving...I vote 'yes.' Just kidding.

Cool Guy Birthday

It has been reopened. We will be able to continue discussing our collecting hobbies in peace.

(PS: Thanks Leemu!)

ZBomber: The next time you start a thread...please don't title it in a misleading fashion. It can annoy people if they feel you've wasted their time. And that's coming from the Grand Obfuscator himself.

Anyway. Star Wars aside, I do collect 7" Spawn type warriors. I won't call them *figures* because they're dolls. Yes, I called them dolls. Dolls from Hell, with bladed weapons, but YES I PLAY WITH DOLLS! I'm a 35 year-old man. Behold my shame.

Spawn

Samurai Spawn
Pirate Spawn
Scorpion assassin
Jackal assassin
Harold Bluetooth
Viking dood (forgot name, threw box away)
Samurai dood

Lord of the Rings

Ringwraith
Legolas (Two Towers)
Easterling

Others

Klangg the Klingon
Samurai X (!)
Evil Ashe
Scorpion King
Some videogame samurai dood

I have quite the bloodthirsty battle going on a shelf over the computer.

Well, I still have all my classic Kenner Star Wars figures and ships from when I was a kid. They are all in storage at the moment, though.

I really collect guitars. I have a lot of them. I think I'm up to 11, with a couple of basses. Some of them are considered valuable vintage collectables at this point, but I don't baby them. I play them all. I also have at least a half-dozen amps as well, and a rack full of effects and at least 10 foot pedal effects.

And here's the sick part: I really want more! I can't stop! I don't have room for the ones I have, or the time to play them all, but I'm already planning my next purchases.

Help meeeeeeee!

Cool Guy Regrets of childhood

Kenner series action figures from the original Star Wars movie? Reminds me of a sad, sad story...

I was one of the first kids to get a set of those, before they came out in the stores. In 1977, my grandparents ordered them for me--I got a group of seven (can't remember which ones, but they were the main characters) mailed to me in a plain, brown box. If I had put that box up away the time, and dug it out today...there's no telling how much thoose toys would be worth today!

*(Looks up at his 'Spawn' post.)*

I still throw the box away. Looks like I didn't learn my lesson.

Yeah,.. I had one of them. The "Early-Bird Starter Kit" or something along those lines.

I didn't save it either. Hey! I was 6-years old, and at that point no one really knew what Star Wars would eventually become.

I did play with all my Star Wars stuff, but I was always pretty careful with it. When I got too old to play with them, I carefully packed them away. A few are missing the odd part, but they are mostly complete and in fair to excellent shape.

I bought a book that tells you how much each individual toy is worth. I was kinda stunned, and I bought the book before Ep. 1 came out, so the prices must be WAYYY out of date by now.

Someday, when I'm in dire need of cash, or just sick of storing them and lugging them with me every time I move, they'll be an E-Bay extravaganza for somebody.

Post Snub fighter!

I used to have the original toy X-wing, with an orange flight-suited Luke to fly it. That fighter and I spent many sunny afternoons terrorizing neighborhood cats and generally zapping up the yard. Then one day it *flew* off its landing platform on my front porch and made a fifty-point landing on the sidewalk below.

Fifty point landing=smash.

Funny thing is, when you compare those old Kenner X-wings with the 'Action Fleet' X-wing that came out in the late 90's, they're short and stubby. The Action Fleet series is much truer to the actual starfighter we all know and love (to hate.)*

The other day I was in a local antique store, on the eternal quest for swords, and I saw one of those old Kenner ships in a display cabinet. It was beat-up, the canopy was cracked, and stickers were missing. To be honest, it looked like someone had dug it up in the back yard...and it was priced at $75.

* s rule. Everyone knows this.

I've got like 30 star wars action figures.
Jango Fett, the Emperor, four Queen Amidalas, and Nute Gunray are on top of my monitor alone.

I also have a bunch of other stuff, but my 10" Sauron is the crowning glory of my toys because he's taller than everyone else. He also talks.

Good ta know. I have one of those, or is it 2? A friend of mine gave me all his Star Wars stuff back then, so now I have a couple of duplicates. I know I have a Tie Fighter or 2, Darth Vader's Tie fighter, a Snowspeeder, Luke's Landspeeder, an AT-AT, an AT-ST, the Death Star set, and the Falcon. A few other things I can't recall right now...

Yeah, Kenner took some liberties with scale and design on the ships. Used to drive me crazy. The newer SW toys are definately more accurate, but will never have that crazy/ funky/ cool vibe of the originals for me.

I guess that's only 28. I thought I had more.

I also have the action fleet TIE Interceptor, Y-Wing, and TIE Bomber. Two queen Amidala dolls (dolls).
Lego Droid fighter

I have a ton of Gundams, most of them unassembled. Two Mary Jane Watson figures from the spiderman movie. One Teela from Masters of the Universe (new). A lone Easterling from The Two Towers and Sauron. I have a bunch of other stuff, but that's the only stuff I'm really proud of.

Right now, I'm currently looking for Rogue from the first X-Men movie, but she's uncommon, even on Ebay. Everyone's selling her in street clothes, but I want the costumed version.
