Jedi Academy Release date CONFIRMED

From www.jk2files.com: Lucasarts confirmed the JK:JA release date as Sept. 16! Read about it at:
EDIT: The actual news link, sorry, should have posted this first.

Also...

I apologize for me being so fast to post. I was just a bit excited Just wanted to point out this is not from Lucasarts, although jk2files.com has been very reliable in the past, so I believe them that this is the current official release, though it can still be pushed back (hope not)

Excellent! I know there is nothing on the official site yet, but the tide of info pointing to mid-Sept is getting quite strong ...

Yeah, so ask for money so you can buy it...

I hope they start moving their marketing a bit now that mid-Sept. seems to be firming up. I haven't heard much out there since it was announced - no articles etc. It doesn't even have an "official" web site off the LA site. I hope they push this game as hard as they did JO because I think it'll be a big success.

Or you just say it is what you really want, and it is OK if you can't get it until 2 days later ...

Personally, I'm glad it is nowhere near anything ... I had to wait nearly a week (!) for JKII for my birthday (yes I could have bought it, but I'm a pain to shop for and so my wife and kids appreciate anything I can suggest )

I agree it is time to start the marketing machinery, but there IS a site (http://www.lucasarts.com/products/jediacademy/)

You're right technically I guess. But you'll notice most of the games that are complete or near complete have an "official site" link on their page. KOTOR had this link months before it came out.

It tends to have a lot more content. Maybe they won't do it for JA - but it makes me wonder what they're up to.

Good to know, I'm going to sticky this for a while.

Marketing...

Cool, I got a sticky
Anyways, I am sure they will start marketing it a lot more once the release date gets around and is more secure. I just hope it does not fall victim to one of those famous Lucasarts push-backs where the game is delayed for months. (KOTR was originally scheduled for winter 2002 for example)

Yes, but it takes rather a while to ship things from California to the Yavin Temple ...

And HertogJan, I agree, but as the 'when's it coming out' threads have hit a fever pitch ... perhaps when the TRUE confirmation hits this gets unstuck.

More info

Massassi.net and a few other websites now have this as the release date, so lets all hope this gets confirmed on the official site soon.

It has been in development since soon after JO was released, I believe.

Exactly. Numerous times they have stated that they started work soon after JO was released, and were really looking forward to taking advantage to what they had learned during JO and SoFII and the advances they had made to their engines.

There's a simple explanation ...

... they are wrong!!!

Mike

(edit: that is not me saying that I know anything for sure, just that everything points to mid-Sept, so it is likely that Virgin is incorrect)

Yes, but as I've said in a previous thread, Amazon.com took preorders from my wife for Obi-Wan for the PC and Duke Nukem Forever in Fall 2000 with pre-holiday ship dates ... so that is why we look for 'confirmation' from sources without a vested interest in grabbing pre-orders.

Exactly.

No, it was never released - it was a big deal for a while, even got a trailer, then it was scrapped. Then it turned into the XBox version ...

Some guy from LucasArts, Brett Totsi (?) said that the game will be completed in a week or two and released in early-mid September.

That sounds about right, since I remember one of the Raven guys saying that it would actually probably come out before the 16th.

Brett Tosti, who has been around LA for some time, and was producer for JO (and I assume JA). Where did you get that info - at ComicCom? Or ...

I should be waiting for the game, whatever it is,and I have to wait an additional 1-3 months for the game to be shipped to my country. You guys have it on the day it comes out.I have to wait. What an unfair world.

There's an online game shop in Australia that has Jedi Academy marked for release on the 12th of September. Could be outdated info, though.

Here's the link:

I think that is as good as we have seen - Mid-September for PC, and November for XBox.

And I agree ... the game looks very good ...

From Kenn Hoekstra:
We don't have any official date yet, but if I had to guess, I'd say it will be before September 16th. The only official date is "Fall 2003" and that could really be any time from August to October.
So there you have it from Project Administrator himself, Kenn.
