WIP: Mara Jade

This is my Mara Jade skin based on the picture from the New Essential Guide to Characters. Feedback is welcome.

Completely redone from scratch and now featuring her "sleek bat suit" as well, team colors, and bot support (light and dark)! I've submitted it to all the major sites, check them out there soon.

Also, please tell me your comments for future editions.

Thats looking pretty good for only a skin. See the problem with no one replying is cause nobody seems to want skins anymore they only want you models. See look how many people are in the skinning forum compared to the modeling forum. So people like us that only skin get screwed.

Not true. It's just that you can do so much more with a model.

But every model needs to be skinned, so if you'd just go out and offer your services to some of the wanting modellers around here, you wouldn't be standing in the unemployment line.

Looks nice. A few things I would suggest doing is shading the skin. Right now the colors are way to basic and bland. Looks great though!

Okay guys...I completely converted the skin from the Tavion model to the new PADME model and I must say I like this one a LOT better. PLEASE, tell me what you think I need a lot of feedback.

The belt looks pretty bad, her clothing are an in an odd color (off-dark-blue-thing?), it looks like she's biting her lower lip and her hands are ugly.

BUT I must say I see great potential still! Keep working on it

Well, I based the skin on the picture from the New Essential Guide to Characters. The hands look awkward because she's wearing light-colored gloves.

Then I think you need to add a cloth effect to it so it won't look like a bad tan

When I try to extract it to the base it says..."Error: invalid compressed data to inflate"

Hey at your geocities file manager just rename .jpg to .txt

That's coming along nicely.

Can the belt be turned off? It may look better just as part of the trouser texture. It's a little on the chunky side, IMO.

The face looks great!

And I agree about a more "cloth" texture perhaps for the gloves.

Looked great up until the face change :\. Obviously the clothes needed to be a bit more up to par, and I THINK you did that. Although Mara Jade is sexy. The old face you had left on there be4 u slapped on that ugly one was best .

so cut down on the makeup, that's all? i only added that to give her a more female tone. the original face was basically just a recoloring of Padme, the new one is from scratch. anything else besides the makeup?

I agree that the whole face should be changed utterly, or reverted back to what it was originally. I agree that you may have just recolored padme, although the current padme skin is somewhat....strange. You see its a great skin and model, but the problem was in the face. It really was strange to see padme smiling at me whilst I sabered her. I really liked some of your changes regarding her face.

Maybe its just me, but I really think you did a great job re-doing that padme model except for the recent face change. You see the eyes are a bit small...and she looks somewhat like an old woman. That or perhaps my aunt

I understood that you chose the Mara from the official guide you characters, which really protrays how I think she looks. You got the clothes up to par...but I really think that the mara from the official guide to characters looks perfectly and brilliantly young and beautiful, while your face really doesnt portray that look. Such as the clothes do.

Aside from the face, I saw that the darker clothed Mara looked somewhat nice also aside from the face. Although did it have that Dooku type cape? I was thinking if there was an update to the file...you could use the second padme type model, in which includes her cape. In which you could recolor the hair and face, and then change the clothes black, and color the cape purple as seen in this pic.

the face just took me so long to do, but i'll reskin it and make her look younger and um...not on crack.

ok, well the face is still ****ed up. i guess ill try to describe what i think is wrong:

the eyes are too beady and set back, and maybe a bit too high; the nose and brow ridges are way too defined

also, the skin tone on the arms etc needs to be worked on; and the pant/shirt/boots/belts need more texture to them

its an ok skin, but it still looks like a newbie skin; ive noticed a lot of skins you post, dont really look complete too me, you should work on making more texture on the surfaces (artistically speaking)

basically, you got the skills and the determination to skin well, you just need to stick with them, and work on the points you lack

Everything looks to light. You need to add more dark areas in certain places. Especially the arms and gloves you have. They look like they are bright colors with a tad bit of shadows in them. Darker darker darker.

Okay, I've attempted to completely redo the face of Mara.....does this look any better. From what I can see, the eyes may be too big and the skin may be too light, but I'll let the people I'm making it for decide. Please give some comments...I really appreciate them!

Looks better...of course there needs to be some more detail (shading around the eyes and stuff). Mabey somehow make the eyes not look so flat on her face. Otherwise, I think it looks better.
