Istanbul level

In the second level leading to the dig site, after getting to the final lamp to jump over, having no luck grabbing on with the whip, can anybody give me a tip on how to succeed. I have tried about 10 times now and no luck.

I know exactly where he is.

Ok to make this jump, walk back all the way, on the last ledge that is, now run and jump, as soon as your infront of it trow your whip at it and bang you should be hooked on.

Thanks for the help as I discovered something that helped me set Indy up correctly to jump. There is a rock that points out as if it is the direction for Indy to jump and running forward ...he jumps and hooks on to the lamp. Viola made it finally to the next level.
