Galaxies: Are you getting it?

Since the game comes out tomorrow [or Today depending upon when you read this] what are you going to do? Anything?

I'm getting it for sure! After work tomorrow I plan on picking up my version of the collectors edition of the game!

I was so happy to be a part of beta and now I can't wait to play the game live!

Bounty Hunter here I come!

This will also provide a great distraction for me when all of the kotor spoilers will be around..x.x

No, I am getting KOTOR instead.

Plus I am buying Republic: The revolution.

SWG may prove to much of a distraction to my studies since I would be on it trying to get my monies worth each month.

No, I am no relation to Krusty.

I have been on the edge for a long time. For a while I was sure I would get it, but then I got to thinking and it got less appealing.

If it gets earth shattering reviews then I might get it.

I hope it does.

*thinks about owning Leemu on SWG*

You guys might wanna have a look at the opening crawl (one with game intro written under it)

Just heard that the game had sign-up problems. Did you get them Leemu?

I won't be buying the game because of the fee

Yep, I got them....along with everyone else. x.x It's that type of game, they couldn't test subscription server they used....but hey, that's the way it goes. I'm in now though so I'm not worried.

I started thinking about the monthy fee and I realized that it will actually be cheaper for me to get this game and play it, rather then just buy games. I have a 6 month subscription [7 actually, the first one is free] and it's going to cost me $77 - which is just a little bit more then the average cost of one game is......so they way I see it, this will save me money and prevent me from buying boring games. This one will keep me busy for a long time to come.

Battle is a pure form of expression. It is heart and discipline, reduced to movement and motion. In battle, the words are swept away, giving way to actions-- mercy, sacrifice, anger, fear. These are pure moments of expression.

No, I will not be getting SWG. Yes the game looks awesome, and will probably play awesome too, but I just cannot bring myself to pay a monthly fee to play any game, not when there are so many other great games on the market.

Hmmm, which would those be? I know of awesome games coming out sometime this late summer/fall etc...but nothing really for right now.

Note - Kotor doesn't count for me since I can't get it til the fall.

I'm going to buy it after a month or so, by that time most of the problems will be sorted out and the game will be running smoothly.. It's a shame you can't use vehicles at first... I'm a big fan of MMORPGs, 53 Mage on Everquest (Quit a long time ago) and a 30ish Mercenary on Dark age of Camelot(Still active).. If it's any better than EQ than it'll be worth it. SOE has always had launch problems with their games, When Mythic released DAoC I don't remember many problems.

This MMORPG will be widely popular amongst hard-core fans (who do nothing but sit around all day and think star wars) just because it has a star wars label on it and you take on role in the SW universe, and thats stinkin cool!!! BUT that does not mean that I will get it because it has a $15 buck monthly fee! Thats three lunches out the window! Not to mention you have to pay 50 bucks for the game, so I stand behind what others have said

Having recently seen a very nice movie of SWG, my mindset has changed from it somewhat. I would live to give the game a try, but two things (credit card & stable income) are currently withholding me from buying it.

Then again, I always have NWN for my online RPG experience

On second thought...

No.

Can't come to grips with it...I can't justify wasting money monthly on a game I *already* own. That's what turns me off about MMORPGs....

I'm more willing to buy other games...I'll wait for KoTOR.

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday and had my hand on the box and was prepared to take it to the counter.

But then those exact thoughts went through my mind.

There are too many other great games I want to blow my money on.

I'll just listen to everyone tell me how great it is.

Granted, there aren't that many out atm, but in the very near future (next couple of months), there will be some awesome games to play. Half Life 2, Jedi Academy, KOTOR etc etc. In the mean time, I'm playing all my old games.

Just stop and think for a moment. Just exactly how much will you end up spending on this game? Will you not have just as much fun playing KOTOR and JA? How much time are you willing to spend playing it? It will take over your life.

I posted this before but I'll do it again since this has come up again.

I can't see myself paying for something monthly that when I decide I'm done, I don't have anything to show for it. MMORPGs take a lot of time and effort. What's all that time and effort leading up to? Once you decide to quit your done no college degree, no car, no raise, nothing.

I'd much rather play a game that I can play 1-2 hours a day and finish in a month or two. Then if I want I can play it later and know that I can stop anytime and not feel left behind.

That's my opinion on MMORPGs. If I was in high school I might feel different. But when I look back 5 years from now I don't want to have memories of killing a Krayt dragon.

I got to level 53 in EQ (cap was 60) and it took about a year or so, but I'm not much of hardcore gamer. It's really a self control thing, if you can't stop after an hour or two than you really shouldn't play MMORPGs. It's like learning how to play guitar, not really how to play but how to practice. If you manage your hour and a half of playing time wisely, you can get a ton of stuff accomplished and improve yourself. If you don't know how to manage your time you could be one of those people who is on for upwards of 16 hours a day and doesn't even get anything done because they don't understand how to manage their time and properly play the game. If you put in 2 quality hours of gameplay, then you can accomplish more than someone who does three or four times that. If you understand how to play and the monthly fees don't bother you than MMORPGs can be alot of fun.

I want to play Galaxies so bad, but I can't afford the monthly fee (with essentially funnelling all income into it), and I don't have a credit card. So, I probably won't play it... unless something happens (cough cough help mom cough cough)...but that means 4 months of no new PC games until KOTOR... waaah

I won't be getting it because like most others(I'm surprised how many there are out there, not only on this forum) I don't want to pay a monthly fee.

What is it? 14/15$? lets convert that into canadian funds here, 20$ a month? X12=240$ a year on a game? sorry, no deal, even though I would love to play it, I don't have the means to pay for an MMORPG.

My brother is about to start paying for an MMORPG that I have been playing for the last while when it was free, and semi-pay. All this talk about 16 hours a day is true, my younger brother is addicted to this game, he hasn't played it in a month, yet he still talks about it non-stop, the people, prices on items, bosses, guilds, and the like, it's become his life. MMORPG's lure you over like the dark side until you succumb to their immeasurable power.

It's actually $15 for oone month, but you can get a 12 month subscription for $144 ($12 a month).

You could also get a 3 month subscription for $14 a month, or a 6 month subscription for $13 a month.

So, to play this game for a year, the least you will pay is $194. That is A LOT of money to spend on ONE game!

I most likely won't be getting it. Why not? I can't. The only way I would be able to get it is if certain family members helped pay for it. But unfortunately, those family members will each have to pay the full subscription price to be able to play, since they'll have to subscribe to another server.

If I do get it...assuming my brother and I get the money to pay double price...it won't be at least for another six months. Maybe then they'll have the bugs I keep hearing about fixed =/

Yes it is a lot.....but honestly, I'd rather spend that for one incredible game in the SW universe rather then spending it on 4 mediocre games.

I'm playing this game probably on average 3 hrs per day. That's really not a lot. I still have lots to do, a girlfriend to hang out with. I never watch tv anyways, so I just spend less time here. Which is fine because I don't want to be overly spoiled.

I'm not worried about it taking over my life. Sure there will be days when I play it more and days when I don't play it at all.....but that's the way games have always been with me. If no-one else here is getting it, that's fine with me - more room on my server!

If it gets good reviews on the PC I might get it for the XBox. I'm sure that the game will be as good as Everquest in a couple of weeks but once they add that expansion pack that gives vehicles as well as big space battles it has the possibilty to be awesome. But all the same if they can make it fun for the PC they can make it fun for the XBox.
Seriously can you imagine having your very own X-Wing or Falcon. There is juz something about that that really seems cool.

Holy cow...

My uncle bought the game and I played it today. It is sheer brilliance! Anyways, here goes my story....

I start out with the tutorial, no big deal. I walk around and learn this and that. Finally I pick my planet. I head off to Moenia, Naboo. Moenia is a dark, kind've hazy place, but is very busy and active. From there I wander around, talk to the NPC's, gaze at the beautiful settings(with the graphics turned down!). Then the fun begins. I walk into the middle of a faction war. Apparently the thugs had decided to try and take over the city, but the townspeople weren't going to have anything to do with that.

I use my newbie scouting skills and start blasting away, gaining experience by the handful. Once I almost die, I run off into the town and talk to the local trainers and just go talk to the people running around. It is quite interesting hearing their stories. Some have already ran into the movie characters from what they say. (believe it or not)

This may not sound that exciting in text, but if you would've seen it, you would know.

I'm definitely getting it as soon as I can.
