I couldn't get past the doors either, so I went on, and it turns out that in the little room past the steam hallway, there is a computer, now if you got inough spikes and a nice computer skill, you can turn off the red laser door thingy and mess up the droids behind it, so no need to go through the pressure doors, because this is a second route.
