The Prophecy

What do you think, was the prophecy true or not?

I believe that Anakin did brink balance into the world by making the good and evil balance...
Before there was most good, when he came into the world evil become to get loose and when he throws palpatine in the core the balance returns totally.

Good and Evil in equal terms forever...

opinions?

I think the prophecy did have it's truths but it also did have it's misinterpretations. Anakin who becomes Vader helped wash the old Jedi order away, creating a new slate. His son completed the prophecy, returning Anakin to the light side where he finally destroyed the greatest evil, Palpatine. Luke then went on to become the leader of a new jedi order.

To bring balance there must be both light and dark and balance doesn't come easily.

Anakin brought balance to the force by elimating the Sith (not counting any EU cases)

I don't think they are saying balance is equal light and dark. I'm sure most jedi during TPM era would not consider the Force out of balance. So the prophecy was more than likely subject to wide interpretations.

If balance isn't both light and dark, then it isn't balanced - it's weighted one side or the other.

Or perhaps GL means balance is only the Jedi, who live in harmony with the force and thus can't be considered truly good or evil.

Or maybe it just means all good, no evil... all the time. Hopefully we'll find out.

Seeing as we don't really know what "balance" represents, I'd say that he probably did, since it is easy to come up with a definition that he satisfied.

That was actually my point. I get the indication that this prophesy was not one that was highly well known. Most Jedi probably weren't even aware of it. As I stated, they probably didn't know what "balance" meant. It doesn't need to mean equal light and dark. It could just mean only light.
Balance can also mean without impurities or blemishes. That's what I'm thinking it is supposed to mean.

I agree with earlier posts. Anakin does bring balance to the force by destroying all the sith, and returns the galaxy to just having light.

For death and glory. The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the Deep one last time! Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath! Now for ruin! And the Red Dawn!

I agree, I see the sith as a disruption to the force, a cancer if you will. I also believe that it is Luke Skywalker who is the Chosen One.

Fear can sometimes be a useful emotion. For instance, let's say you're and astronaut on the moon and you fear that your partner has been turned into Dracula. The next time he goes out for the moon pieces, wham!, you just slam the door behind him and blast off. He might call you on the radio and say he's not Dracula, but you just say, "Think again, bat man."
Try this on for size.

No, it is Anakin. Anakin is the chosen one of the Force. He was immaculately concieved, his father is the force itself. He was created to bring balance to the force. Because of him, Luke and Leia are born, and his siblings help to bring balance, but it is he who ultimately kills The Emporer therefore restoring balance.

I see the force as being light, and the dark is kept at bay. It's the ultimate struggle between good and evil. Good always wins in the end, as this is the will of the force.

Anakin is the savior of the galaxy, there was just a slight detour when he became vader and he killed lots of people.

Luke Skywalker isn't the chosen one, his only job was to get the chosen one back on course, i.e turn vader to the light-side again.

Anakin had too much power. Power like that has no balance. Luke gave that power balance in the end.

You are missing the point. There would be no Luke if it wasn't for Anakin, and Luke was unable to defeat The Emporer, therefore it is ultimately Anakin who brings balance to the force.

I was trying to say Luke gave Anakin that balance.
