Leela Model (JK2/JA universal woman project)...
Well, I've been recently been reciving alot of questions about this model, and how it's coming along.
Well, so far, it's...
...almost done. I've just been working on a few extra additions, and tweaks that have been giving me trouble.
But's it's coming along, as I'm juggling this, my band, and a 40-hour-a-week job.
Here's a few screenshots fresh from 3D Studio Max, showing off some of the different hair meshes...
I still have some additional skinning to do.
(this one took me awhile, I think it looks sexier, but it still didn't turn out as well as I wanted it to.)
Comments?
Input?
-Dan

I'd hit it!
Anyway, the face doesn't seem to blend well with the rest of the skin...

That looks fantastic. There is a great need for good custom female models.
I like the first and last pictures the most, I hope you decide to release her with her hair down.
I do think the coloring of the face and the rest of the skin seems a bit unmatched as imyourfather mentioned.
Great job, really looking forward to this one.

But since I'm such a horrible skinner, I may just have Plasma or JP-30 do some of the touching-up...
...either way, it's almost done. I have it in-game now, and once I have the above mentioned problems fixed - and, if Windows 2000 stops giving me trouble, I can have this out before Christmas...

Nope, it's a re-shape of Tavion's face, on Jan's head.
the only thing this model uses from the Mara Jade model, is the jacket, which isn't shown (I may just as well make my own, if I have the time.), and I already asked for permission on that, anyway.
I'm still having trouble with Windows 2000, but I have Windows 98, working fine, if anything serious happens...

Sweet...
Are most things going to be toggle-able surfaces? Obviously the hairstyles are, what about jacket/belt/accessories?
Also, what is wrong with your Win2k? I've found that's the most stable Microshaft Winblows out there - no blue screens of death like good ol' 98, and not all the worthless fluff of eXPerimental.
Anyway, definitely looking forward to this model. Is there gonna be a generic male model as well? The more customizable generic models the better for modders.
I don't like quake, never liked quake, and don't like Star Wars quake. So basically jk2mp.exe never gets used on my computer.
Shaving is not a high priority with Jedi. Would you want to shave with a lightsaber?

The skin color on her neck is different from the skin color of her torso. Just thought I'd say it... Very nice except for that.

Oh and Antizac? You gonna fix up all that "makeup" on her face? Looks like she's sweating it off. Just tone it down a bit because the purple and pink are a bit too prominent.

Too true Gothic,
Have you decided which version is the one you are releasing? I'm kinda hoping it's the last one in the screenies.

They are all the same model. So there's no conflict there.
It has selectable surfaces - Hair style A can go with the skirt, or dress, and Skin C. Hair style D can go with the cloak, and the applied Skin B. Whatever the skinner desires.
It'll be one model with seemingly endless combinations...

Is there any chance this will be made as a selectable species available for SP and MP? that would rock and if not at least we get another great model.

Well, I'm currently working on something that could be considered "an insane ammount of detail" - but in the end it may prove that the suffereing Jedi Academy (Quake 3) engine, can still compete with modern games...
The two main characters in "The Rising Empire" will have the most close-ups in the cutscenes, so I want them to look as real as possible. With all this detail - that can really only be seen from up-close - I may have to start making LODs (Probably just 2, total). I just wish adding new animations and stuff were as easy as it is with Unreal 2k3...
I'll have screenshots soon - right now I'm working 8 hours each day until, the 24th. So It may be a week, or so, delayed...

hmm, nice idea, but this skin looks kinda... unfinished. (well dummy, it is *SMACK*) the metal boots need lot of work, overall the metal loks strange. the eyebrows look like cpt. spock's, but that may be caused by the model's facial geometry
u can maybe use some alpha shadering in order to make the hair look a bit more messy...
i'm not saying in a way that this is a bad skin, this is going to be great for sure!

It's not fiinished, which is why it says "work-in-progress".
There are no metal shaders applied - and even if they were I don't know how they would look in Modview. The eybrows are based on the image of Arden in the lower right of the screenshot.
I've messed with alphas on the hair, but it doesn't work, as the hair is a 3D block - alphas on hair tend to work best on 2D shapes.
Anyway, as you noted it's not finished. Thanks for the feedback though, it's duly noted, and the face will definitely get some work.
When I found out Antizac was making a v2 of the model and the beta would not be released I stopped working on the skins for the Beta version in anticipation of the final release.

LOL. This is the longest I have ever seen a person work on a model. Antizac has been working on this project for over two years now, so anyone hodling there breath for this model, I might suggest you move on and in like, 5 more years maybe there might be a release. P.S-Iknow this is the 2nd try at this model, that's why I called it a project.
