Yeah, "Full Throttle" as well as an extended "Sam & Max" soundtrack will be added eventually, although right now I am quite busy starting into a new job, moving to a new city and basically starting into the "real" life, at last... although I am more scared than excited.

Everybody here's just as dead as YOU! That's why we call it "The Land of the Dead!"

Good luck with all that, although what is this "life" you speak of? Is it good?

What is this..."life" of which you speak? I've never heard of it.

Ahem. Anyway, good luck, and thanks for the update!

The life I am talking about is what (probably) all of you have already up and running. I am moving out of my parents' place for the first time... moving to a new city because of the job I've found... living on my own now... leaving all my friends somewhat behind...

Not all of this is stuff I was looking forward to, and it doesn't exactly help me getting rid of my long-time depression... but as frightening as it might look now, it'll eventually turn out great... at least that's what I hope for.

I know, this all sounds pretty ridiculous, given that I am already 23... but I guess I've always been somewhat "late" on stuff like this.

Wait... why the heck am I telling all this stuff?

Its a shame the KotOR and DF soundtracks had to be taken down. Still, it doesn't detract from the site's general greatness. Good job!

Jan, I've recently gone through sort of the same thing. It's hard being away from all of my friends and many of the familiar elements of my life, but on the other hand, it is nice to be free of my parents' controlling grasp. You'll do fine. And hey, you've still got all of us here at Mojo if you need us.

I know this thread is slow, but man I don't care. I just needed to say how eternally thankful I am for this site hosting all this music. Especially for The Dig.

Seriously, Jan, you are doing a very very great thing. It would be a terrible loss for music this beautifully crafted to just fade away into the haze of gaming history. I've made it a point to pimp this site (especially The Dig soundtrack) to everyone I meet. So if you've been noticing a rise in downloads lately, it's my fault, good sir!

Great work!
Nice covers too. Though, why not add sticker-art for the actual disc? A CD-R with "MONKEY ISLAND SOUNDTRACK" written in pen all over it isn't that sexy, and it spoils the professional look.

Just wanted to say that I have made an Afterlife gamerip.

I would like if you could put up the remixed DOTT tracks that used to be at http://www.bensin.org/dottmusic/ - corresponding you can get them!

Right now I only have internet access at work, but as soon as my home internet-access (4 Mbit, yay!!) is up and running - which should be sometime next month - I'll start working on the page again.

I would be really interested in putting your Afterlife-soundtrack up, and regarding that DOTT-files... any info on that?

Furthermore I am going to put the CD-covers back up for the soundtracks I had to take down, plus I am thinking about adding ripping instruction to them (at least the ones that can be ripped from PC-versions), which of course includes "Knights of the Old Republic", and the new "Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords".

Adding to that I'll add cover art and links for the "Republic Commando" soundtrack (which is downloadable at the official site, although quite frankly I don't think it's that great, musicwise). Oh, "Full Throttle" will be added too, eventually.

Regarding "KotOR II": It's nice that the PC-version got the gaming-console-typical music-menu, but it's far more sad that the music quality is just 32KHz mono... I bet the X-Box-version has the music at 44KHz stereo, just as "KotOR" did.

Hi Lasersword, is it possible for you to extract the music from X-Box version of KOTOR2 somehow? I got seriously frustrated with Obsidian when I heard the low quality music in the PC version, and I'd like to replace it.

If it's too much of a hassle, then nevermind - I'll just keep harrassing Obsidian with mails until they do something about it

Hey, Ken... nice to hear from you... any news on your soundtracks?

Anyway, regarding KotOR2, as you might have noticed I wrote "I bet the X-Box version has...", since I don't have an X-Box, nor do I know anybody who does. (Actually I know NO ONE where I live now... but that's a completely different sad story). And if I had, I don't think I would manage to extract the music from it, given that it seemed nearly impossible for the X-Box music from "Emperor's Tomb", which already was MP3 (though obviously someone did it). By the way, the X-Box-music from KotOR1 was stored as 192Kbit MP3s (as opposed to the 128Kbit files from the PC-version). I would have replaced the files on my site, eventually... at least that was the plan before LucasArts' intervention.

The music for KOTOR2 seems... alright, so far. A couple of tracks reminscient of certain John Williams battle scenes (although once again there seems to be a total lack of Williams' 'Dark Side' Theme), but mostly just 'alright'. Ambience, mainly.

I quite liked a couple of the Republic Commando tracks, though.

LaserSchwert: That's ok, don't worry about it - I know someone who has an X-Box, maybe if it's a game he'll get I can borrow it - and if nothing else, just run the music into the line-in in my soundcard and record it. It might lose some quality, but it would be prett easy considering that there's a menu where you can play all the tracks.

Tingler: I agree that there's an almost complete absense of strong williamsesque themes in the score (though I'm not a fan of the Jeremy Soule's for the first, he did write the interesting Sith theme) - still, it would be nice to have it in desent stereo and bitrate.

EDIT: uhm, ehehe - about Tie Fighter - I was waiting to do it until I'd get the upgrade for EWQLSO gold pro, however, I resently installed GigaStudio3, which screwed up kontakt, I had to choose between one of them and I went with GS3, so instead of Gold Pro, I'm now considering buying the entire Sonic Implants Symphonic Complete, which should be available March 1st. It WILL be completed... eventually :P

Hey, I just noticed this since I made my own Escape from Monkey Island Soundtrack using the files I ripped from the game, but unless I am much mistaken, the track you have listed as "Closing Medley" on the EMI soundtrack is actually, I believe, actually a cue from one of the cutscenes. Specifically, the cutscene leading up to the Ultimate Monkey Kombat. I seem to recall Clint Bajakian saying in an interview that he was particularly proud of that piece of music. Anyway, I was wondering how you got that cue. I don't recall being able to find cutscene music in with the music files, and if it was there, I would assume it would still have voices and sound effects like the sound files from the Curse of Monkey Island cutscenes.

I thought the K2 music was awesome. I was getting sick of the same kind of scoring in all the StarWars games, and K2 was very refreshing. While some none of the battle music had much of a listening appeal, the "Ambient" music was superb, especially the Ebon Hawk music. This is all just my opinion, though.

As I recall, I think one of the music composers put the piece up on his site, and then LucasArts asked him to remove it.

It really sucks, because there's some cutscene-specific pieces from EMI I'd like to get.

You guys are right, the "Closing Medley" was taken from Clint Bajakian's site some time ago... I've just added the main theme to the end of it (which seemed appropriate to me).

I don't think any more cutscene music was released.

By the way, I have made some new Monkey Island Soundtrack CD covers, so stay tuned.

Hey Laserschwert,

I was just wondering, have you already made those Republic Commando covers? Because, from what I can tell, the MP3s on the site are just a sample. Of course they'd suit a soundtrack fine, but I hear that even in the 421MB demo of the game that they include something like 3 hrs of music.

Also;
Do you have .psds of any of your covers, there's a few I'd like to modify slightly (only for personal use).

And finally;
I have just acquired:
X-Wing
X-Wing: Imperial Pursuit
Force Commander
Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Day of the Tentacle (CD)
Indy & FoA (CD)
Full Throttle (CD)
Sam & Max (CD)

With the first few games (the SW ones) , is there anything I need to know in regards to music? Would rips of the music be better than the MP3s your site had?

With the latter 4 games; is there any way possible that I could record or extract clips of dialogue? I have your soundtracks and they're great - but is there any way of getting the dialogue as I need some voice samples for a LucasArts related mini-remix.

Any and all help would be appreciated (from others too, not just Laserschwert).

I hope you're feeling more at home now Laserschwert, I know what it's like not knowing anyone as I had to live in Japan for 5 months on student exchange and I had massive culture shock too. All of us Mixnmojo-ers are here for you though.

Regards,

It's getting better, living alone... I just love my apartment (and not just because it's MINE, and I am the KING in here, but also because it's nice and homey... I guess I might post some pics), and Cologne isn't all that bad, although I haven't had much time to explore the city, except for the closer surroundings. My new job (3D graphics) already kicked into gear, and right now it's 12:30 P.M., and I am still at the office, although I used to leave earlier all the other days... right now I am using a "rendering break" to post here.

Anyway, I do have PSDs from all the covers, though they're all a little too big to get them to you. You just have to take them as they are. I haven't started on the RC-covers... that won't happen until my home-internet access is up and running (the provider told me it should happen during the next two or so weeks... so, fingers crossed).

You might have noticed that I had to take down all Star Wars and Indy music, so "X-Wing", "Imperial Pursuit" and any of the "Jedi Knight" games aren't going to be on my site. The latter one does consist of the original movie soundtracks anyway, so just get those (except for "Jedi Academy", if I am not mistaken it does contain some newly composed music). But still, SW and Indy got to be a no-no to my site... sadly.

The "Force Commander" rip you have should be the same that was on my site... it was a direct rip from the game.

For extracting voices use the tool "ScummRevisited" (Google for it).

Well that's good, sounds like you're settling in fine.

In regards to the PSDs, would it possible for me to pay you, by way of an International Money Order (in US$), for shipping and you could send me a CD or DVD containing them? Please let me know.

I understand that you had to take them all down. I was one of the lucky ones and managed to download them before the site was noticed by the game companies. I have Jedi Academy and was going to poke around for the music, then try and do the same for KOTORII and Republic Commando. I just meant, would you still be able to post covers and ripping-guides for the SW and Indy games (Indiana Jones & the Infernal Machine prefereably - the only soundtrack that you formally hosted that I have not got).

Okay, well I'll keep my Force Commander rip then. Thanks.

I didn't know ScummRevisited was still around, thanks for that. I'll try it out soon.

BTW, thanks for the quick reply!

Hope all's going well in your life!

Thanks Alien426,

I used to have that site's link but lost it a year ago or so! My only beef is that they've yet to put up KOTOR II. I might be mistaken, but isn't it available now?

I have uploaded the Afterlife rip to Marona's server at RPGamers.net

As for the DOTT remixes, I can't help you with that, I'm afraid.

I DO have three of them on me though.

I just wondered a little about the quality of the files from the different games. The music with mp3's made from midis are mainly in 160 kbps, but the music in MI1 is in 128 kbps? Why? Isn't the MI1 music ripped from the cd? Wasn't the The Dig music ripped from cd's? That music was in 160 kbps. And why is the music ripped from the Grim Fandango cd in vbr? Just noticed it and started to wonder

The reason I started wondering about this was because I just heard The Final Showdown (Closing Medley) from EMI. It was fantastic, but I would really like to have it in better quality, since the quality bothered me a little. And that was why I started to look at the quality of the music from the other games.

I know the original mp3 was 9.73 MB and the medley file (which is longer because of the main theme) is just 7,76 mb, so I guess there's a posibility of getting it in better quality. I don't have the original mp3 and would really appreciate if you would change the current file with a one with better quality

Wow. After all those years of searching for TIE Fighter's soundtrack (the MIDI's never did any justice), I find one place that might be able to provide for it, only to find out that they aren't allowed to release any Star Wars game soundtracks.

So disappointing. Why can't that company with the license to the star wars games soundtracks actually DO something with it?

Is it me, or has LucasArts stopped letting people download and keep the Republic Commando soundtrack?

Not really. The non-flash LucasArts Insider site is more comfy (right-click, save target) than the normal site (which will very likely open the MP3s in you media player), but both seem to work OK.

Ahhh, that's the site I remember! Cheers!

On another topic, just noticed the Loom Audio Drama! Where can I get some info about it? A cast list would be handy - as the narrator at the beginning sounds a lot like the actress behind the voice of Kreia in KOTOR2. Where did it come from?

They're not the same. The narrator of the Loom audio drama is Kenna Hunt, Krena in KOTOR2 is Sara Kestelman.

imdb is becoming quite the source for game info lately. While MobyGames mostly lists the credits like they appear in the game/manual imdb actually has helpful information like that Half-Life 2's composer is Kelly Bailey...

On http://www.lucasarts.com/exclusive/rc_music/ you have access to all FULL 15 songs, while on the gamesite you can download only like 5 songs =))

Edit: Also if you look into the mp3 file info in winamp for example you see each songs tracknumber. So, Im guessing there is a "hardcopy" of the game soundtrack that is not officially released. =)

Hey, I figured this would be as good a place as any to ask this. I have a copy of the Raiders of the Lost Ark Expanded Edition CD (Which I bought legally, in case you were thinking otherwise.) Anyway, as you may or may not know the Expanded Edition CD is almost identical in content to the Expanded Edition LP. *Almost*. There is, however, one track that is on the LP version that is NOT on the CD version. It's the second half of the cue from when Indy and Sallah are in the Well of Souls, and Marion and Belloch are playing their drinking game. I believe the track is called "Discovery of the Ark". My question is, does anyone know of anyplace where I could download an mp3 of this track? I would just buy the LP if I had a working record player, if I could find the LP anywhere, and if I had money to spend on records.

"So Brak, is that Polish? Or... no I suppose it wouldn't be."

Well, if I had a midi, I could check if it is in Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures on the Super NES.
