Just something I was wondering about. In Jedi Outcast, there's a cue in one level that uses Jabba's theme. But it's not from anywhere in the film. It seems to come from a recording of the concert version of Jabba's theme, a version of which you can hear on the Utah Symphony Orchestra's Star Wars album. But the concert version of Jabba's theme doesn't appear on the Special Edition of the Return of the Jedi soundtrack. But it seems unlikely that they would have included something that's not from one of the original, official Star Wars soundtracks in a game soundtrack. I guess what I want to know is does anyone know if John Williams did record a concert version of Jabba the Hutt's theme with the London Symphony Orchestra for the Return of the Jedi soundtrack, and if so, has it appeared on any of the original soundtracks?

The Loom and Zak soundtracks were available all the time... just read what the text says and DO THAT.

As for Afterlife... where could I get that rip?

At this very moment at eBay there's a guy selling Sam & Max DVDs with Laserschwert's cover like if they were originals. This is the link:

Well, I would buy it... at least it has 19 episodes, instead of the 16 noted on my cover. (Photoshop... what a bless). Anyway, ScummBuddy is working on a set of his own, so I'll just wait for that one.

I routinely check ebay for sam and max things bust somehow i missed that one [edit* it went only for sale for one day?!? weird]. I probably would have bought it too, just to get those extra episodes he was claiming and then pass them along to everyone. hmm. ill contact the seller.
---
Edit...
well, i dont know if I can trust the guy. i understand that he probably just uses the same text for the 'why is it free distribution and so on, but he still has in there that 'its straight from the distributor' as in nelvena, which we all know hasnt put this up for dvd yet.

and at least I asked permission to use the dvd cover from Laserschwert, but I have yet to do the shows, since I wanted to make a more complete dvd first, with the extra episodes that are oh so hard to find.

I wrote BrushGuy on these forums in private message, and he didnt come online for quite awhile. He finally did, but didnt respond, nor give me any clue as to whether or not he really has the extra sam and max episodes like he claimed before.

Jan, you promised some time ago to upload new covers for the Monkey Island soundtracks...when yu'll do this upload?

Also, why aren't you adding new soundtracks anymore? I mean, there's still "Afterlife" and all the expanded old soundtracks (Sam&Max and Zak McKracken for example, just to name two).

And that's the bottom line, 'cause Guybrush Jones said so!

I am not adding stuff because my life got very busy lately... I just can't seem to get some spare time to do all the stuff I'd like to do, so just wait and see for it to come.

By the way, the Zak soundtrack is already there... just read the links!

Yeah, same for me, the spare time is always less than what we want/need...

Yes, of course I have it, in fact I wrote expanded soundtracks! Maybe Zak was the wrong example, but you know that stuff like Sam&Max or Day of the Tentacle still have a lot of extra music! I'm sure you can do a great job once again, as you did with the expanded The Dig and Grim Fandango!

Those weren't necessarily expanded... it was just that the first versions of the soundtracks I've posted were the official soundtrack-release, which were basically "dexpanded"... or "inexpanded"... or some other nice neology here.

DOTT was only missing one track (the obviously strongly missed "Dwayne's Theme"). "Sam & Max" on the other hand WILL be added (yeah, right) as a complete 2-disc set... eventually...

For a start I've added ripping-instructions for the two KotOR-games to my site... check them out... or don't. Whatever.

It's kinda "shocking" to see a different homepage after more than a year...by the way, you even did the cover of KotOR II - so you're great.

Thanks for the tutorials, now I only need to get the games. Oh well.

Or just need for someone to follow your tutorial and put the soundtrack on eMule.

Just a suggestion, to whoever is supposed to do this and share on p2p programs: use at least a bitrate of 192 Kbps!
128 f*ckin' sucks!!

Actually DOTT is missing TWO tracks: Dwayne's Theme and Wierd Ed Edison.

Also, you going to put up Afterlife?

About KotOR: You need only to rename the .WAVs as .MP3s

Yeah, the DOTT CD was just full, and those two missing tracks wouldn't justify making it a 2-CD set. Anyway, Dwayne's theme will be featured on my often announced extended "Sam & Max" soundtrack... so relax.

I still haven't managed to download the "Afterlife"-soundtrack anywhere, maybe you might PM me the necessary login/pass/port/etc. stuff for that FTP you've mentioned.

And KotOR: It's not enough to rename the files to MP3. Some players, like WinAmp, can play them, but others, as WMP or portable MP3 players can't. So de- and recompressing is suggested.

It's not the first time you provide that link, dude. And yet, it still doesn't work.

Would it be simplier to just share it on p2p softwars like eMule? Maybe you once for all prove you really have that soundtrack, huh?

The mp3s won't work with some applications; complete conversion is the most efficient way to do it.

If you're referring to Guybrush Jones, then I guess he just never had a real job. And being a freelancer doesn't really make things easier... I would have some free-time, if I'd stop wasting my time with stupid things like eating and sleeping (though I managed to reduce the latter one to a minimum anyway).

Anyway, you've been that patient with me over the years, I bet your patience will last just as long as mine does.

No wait...Jan...are you pissed off with me?? Of course I do have a job. I work 9-10 hours a day, I sleep 5-6 hours, I eat, I wash myself, but I do have free time too. I never have met a single person if my life who REALLY is at office "day and night"...it's techically impossible...

You did an outstanding job in the past, I'm just asking you to not stop it. I never attacked you, and I apologize if you was offended.

A well, at least you wash yourself

But right now the term "night and day" does apply, when working 15 oder 16 hours a day you spend the whole day and a good part of the night at the office. Hell, a lot of my "working days" during this year's first week started at 10 in the morning (ooh, lucky me), but ended at 5 or 6 in the morning... talk about time travel.

But I am OK with it, at least I have a job. The unemployment rate in Germany is quite high (around 11%), so I am glad to not be part of those 4 millions.

OK, so it looks like you're not pissed off with me. I'm glad about that 'cause it wasn't my intention to offend you! And yes, I understand your situation. I used to work more in the past. Now it's only 8-9 hours.

And then they say that money ain't happyness! Grrr...if I was rich, working wasn't even in my thoughts!! I would spend at least 3 years travelling around the whole f'n world...

If you're asking if Jan's going to post them as mp3's on the website, I'd assume the answer is no, since the folks at Lucasarts respectfully requested that all Star Wars/Indiana Jones soundtracks not be posted on the Lucasarts Soundtracks website. However, I don't think they would care if Jan posted ripping instructions/CD covers on the site. And if you really want the Republic Commando soundtrack, you can download a substantial amount of the original music at the official sitehere.

Incidentally, I just finished my own personal fan edit "special edition" Episode I soundtrack. I decided rather than do it based on the way others, like elvisjones, had done it, I would just edit it based on my own instincts and just try to edit it in a way that works both musically and follows the film as close to chronologically as possible. This way I could compensate for the fact that some of the cues actually last longer than the scenes they underscored. I still hold out hope that Lucasfilm will actually release an official special edition that contains all the music composed for all three prequels, including alternate cues, unreleased, and unused music, etc. But this will do for now. (Though I want to get Battlefront 1 & 2 for PC so I can rip some of the unreleased Episode II and III music.)
