I'd say they'd start by trampling on his human rights continue with the absence of a fair trial and finish up by executing him.

This is very good news... I saw the press conference live on television.. very weird to see Saddam like that ( with the beard and stuff )
and about how he will face justice... just execute him... he doesn't even deserve a fair trial.... And they should also broadcast his execution live on television in the entire world...
For the ones that do not know it :: ( source: BBC News )

Saddam Hussein arrested in Iraq
Video footage of Saddam receiving a medical check was shown
Ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured by US forces, says the US chief administrator in Iraq.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we got him," Paul Bremer said at a news conference in the capital, Baghdad, prompting loud cheers from Iraqis in the audience.
The former leader was found hiding in a cellar in a town about 30 kilometres south of his ancestral hometown Tikrit.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has welcomed the news, saying it "removes the shadow" hanging over Iraq.
Saddam Hussein is the most wanted man on the list issued by US authorities but has not been seen since Baghdad fell to US forces in April.
Video footage apparently showing a dishevelled-looking Saddam with a long black beard receiving a medical check-up in custody was shown at the press conference.
'No resistance'
I'm very happy for the Iraqi people, life is going to be safer now... now we can start a new beginning.»
Baghdad resident Yehya Hassan
Saddam Hussein was found following intelligence indicating he was at one of two possible locations south of Tikrit, Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez, commander of coalition ground forces in Iraq.
A large contingent of US forces conducted extensive searches of the area and found a small rural farmhouse..
A "spider hole" was detected within the house with an entrance camouflaged with bricks and dirt.
When uncovered, US troops found the former Iraqi president in a hole barely six to eight feet (1.8m to 2.5m) deep.
Colonel Sanchez said he offered no resistance.
Two unidentified people said to be "close allies" of Saddam Hussein were also arrested and weapons and more than $750,000 cash were confiscated.
Intensive search
Iraqi Governing Council head Abdel-Aziz al-Hakim was quoted as saying that a DNA test had proved the man in custody was Saddam Hussein.
The news comes as violence continued in Iraq, with at least 17 people killed and 30 wounded after a powerful car bomb exploded at an Iraqi police station in Khalidiyah, about 35 miles (60 km) west of Baghdad.
People were seen celebrating in the streets of Baghdad
US officials say it may have been a suicide attack.
Saddam Hussein had been the object of intensive searches by US-led forces in Iraq but previous attempts to locate him had proved unsuccessful.
People have started celebrating the capture of their former president in the streets of Baghdad and the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk by sounding their horns and firing into the air.
The former Iraqi leader was last seen in television footage shot in April at a Baghdad market just before the city fell to US forces in the recent Iraq conflict.
US authorities have offered a $25m reward for information leading to his capture.
On 22 July his sons, Uday and Qusay, were killed in a raid by US forces in the northern city of Mosul.
Intelligence
In October, US officials said they had intelligence indicating Saddam Hussein was hiding in Tikrit.
Saddam Hussein's sons were killed in a US raid in July
They said he seemed to be moving around various safe houses with the aid of family members, often in disguise.
Saddam Hussein was born in Tikrit and has a tight network of family and clan ties which permeated all of the regime's main military, security and political institutions while he was in power.
Coalition authorities have said that the former Iraqi president could be tried at a war crimes tribunal, with Iraqi judges presiding and international legal experts acting as advisers.

I guess the thing to be worried about now is could there be some mroe terrorist attacks? As in protest for the capture of Saddam?? There's plenty of screwed up people in the world.

A lot of them are here I think the first thing that will happen will be a lot of gloating. I'm not sure that much will happen straight away but after we see how things are being handled.

What I see as the problem is, Saddma Hussien is going to be tried y the Iraqi government (the one which has recently been set up). But much of that government is made up by his former government workers and Baathists. So how fair is this trial going to be?

Heads would roll if he's found innocent. On the other hand, some of the Iraqi people might think it's unfair if America trials him. I personally think they need a country that wasn't involved in the invasion of Iraq and hasn't gotten involved in all this to trial Saddam. What about France? Maybe they could do it.

It's very true that ead and other body parts would go flying. I also think there is no way in f*** America or Britain should try him. But I think I was a bad descision in setting up the new Iraqi government to include members of the ousted regime.
But it really is a difficult situation. I really don't think anyone but the Iraqis should be able to try him, but I'm not sure which ones, I guess.

I'm trying to be helpful Either way, I don't think any country who was involved in the coalition, or Iraq should be the one to trial him, you need a nuteral country/countries involved, otherwise it's seen as unfair.
Although I won't be suprised that now that America has Saddam that they won't turn him over to Iraq for them to trial him. They'll do it themselves so that they make sure he's found guilty.

Have all of you forgotten the Hague? There's a UN International War Crimes Tribunal or some such in there. That is where Saddam should be tried.

The real problem with the Iraqi's trying him is that they had an election and he got 100% of the vote with 100% turnout.
But that was the old government style election.

Time for my opinion (which you don't need to give a **** about, as it will most likely annoy you, but I'm entitled to my opinion...).
I have to say, when I saw those photos of Saddam I felt sorry for him. Why? They show an old, broken, scruffy old man in need of a wash. That's all he is now.
He should be entitled to a fair trial just as everyone else is. Personally, I think he should be thrown in prison for the rest of his days. I don't agree with the death penalty under any circumstances.
What I find sickening is that Saddam is being blamed for all the acts against Kurds and Iraqi's, yet in the 1980's the US and UK gave funding to Saddam in order to do so. All of a sudden, our involvement in that is brushed under the proverbial carpet.
And to end, this certainly doesn't justify the US and UK invading Iraq in the first place.

i do like the "mirror way" sometimes..
i mean.. he should get a trial as fair as he gave trials back in his dictator days.
or perhabs not.
perhabs just cut it off and let 234 naked nude ladies in panties dance around him 24/7
that would be terrible.
i swear.

I think it's great how you guys want 'a fair trial' but also want to ignore everyone that supports Saddam Hussein. Of course there are going to be Baathists in the new government because there are people that support the Baathists. That is assuming that the new government is democratically elected, heh.. The Americans invaded on the naive assumption that everyone in the country opposed Saddam Hussien, and they soon realised how ridiculous that was. Although the Baath party weren't exceptionally good socialists, they were socialist nonetheless and so the working-class Iraqis benefitted from Saddam Hussein. Those that were oppressed were those that opposed him politically, the rebels, the 'terrorists'. That includes the Kurds. The vast majority of Iraqis could go about their ordinary business, work their jobs, buy their groceries and whatnot, and could do is in a comparatively good standard of living. Under Saddam Hussein, Iraq had a solid infrastructure, a good welfare system, and exceptional hospitals and schools, certainly before the sanctions imposed after the second gulf war, anyway. It was not a democratic system, but it worked. Bush said upon invading the country that how Iraq was run was to be defined by Iraqis; later he said that he would set up a democratic government for Iraq. But what if Iraqis do not want democracy? The majority of the world does not have democracy, democracy is very much a Western ideal. Why should Iraq have democracy thrust upon them? Most countries have existed for all time without democracy, without problems. The situation in Russia at the moment is that many Russians want to get rid of the new democratic system, and go back to the way things were in the USSR.
If Iraqis opposed Saddam Hussein like the Western media like to portray that they did, the Iraqis would have united and overthrown him, much like the Iranian Revolution of 1970. Yes, it would have been much harder, it would have taken much longer, and many more people would have died, but it would have resulted in an Iraq run by Iraqi ideals and values. My predictions for Iraq now are that America will set up a puppet regime that will run the country the way the West wants it to, much to the anger and humiliation of Iraqis. The resistance attacks on occupying forces will continue, and will continuously grow (though no doubt they will escape the media attention). Eventually, the resistance will grow so strong that the occupying forces flee, and the resistance overthrows the puppet regime and sets up an Iraq the way it should be.
Change is revolutionary, and the Americans have merely postponed the revolution.
Signatures are for fools.
