What bands have you seen live?
This is the topic where you post all the bands you've seen live, any upcoming gigs you're going to, and bands you'd like to see live
Since I'm relatively new to "gigging", I've only seen a few bands...
Metallica (Twice) - The first time I saw them was better than the second, it was an outdoor event, and the atmosphere was brilliant - also, the sound was a lot better. They are such an amazing live act, they don't hit a wrong note.
System of a Down - Not exactly a fan, but they are quite innovative for a "nu-metal" band - they were OK I guess.
Primal Scream - these guys have been going for years, and they're pretty good, and even better live.
Godsmack - they were supporting Metallica the second time I saw them, and they were absolutely awful. You couldn't hear a tune or anything - appalling.
This year I'll probably be seeing Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, possibly Metallica again, and anything else that interests me
I really want to see Pearl Jam, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Dave Matthews Band and a load of others - I'll just have to be patient I guess
Now your turn.
P.S. This is my 1000th post Taken me quite a while to get here...

Congrats on 1K.
The only concert I've ever been to was a Bobby Brown concert back in the 80's. Whitney Houston and Snap made guest appearances. It was absolutely brilliant.
I would like to see Massive Attack live. *slaps Jais*

I've seen many concerts over the years, including the Beastie Boys (as well as two solo Mix Master Mike shows), AC/DC, Public Enemy, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, and a bunch of Canadian bands you may or may not have heard of.

Far too many to list since I work in the live concert business. I see a couple of hundred concerts a year.

Massive Attack - Front row, amazing concert. They had this big video screen behind the band which showed all kinds of artsy and leftist propaganda stuff - like a big bill on which country spent the most on military hardware, and what all manners of cruise missiles cost. I didn't know the woman who did the vocals to "Teardrop" also played the violin, and I got to see Tricky as well
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Most anticipated concert I've been to, ever. Me and my friends were up front at first, but as soon as the band appeared, it turned into a frothing stampede, and my friend's cousin fell down during the rampage and was almost trampled - she went to the hospital along with my friend, and I got to enjoy the concert in pouring rain, alone.
Rammstein - Oh yeah, baby. Lots of firework, jumping and S/M sceneplay. A great concert.
Metallica - Quite good, but they played too much of their "St. Anger" album. Near the end, however, they broke out their greatest hits, and life was good once again.
Coldplay - Everyone I met thought this was a grand concert, but I didn't dig their music all that much, and it was pretty bland to me. The lead singer was very charismatic, though, and had rehearsed some Danish phrases to the crowd's great amusement.
Asian Dub Foundation - Awesome concert, even though I didn't get to see the whole thing. Everybody was jumping and screaming.
Junkie XL - All I remember from this was that it was, well, very good =)
The Cure - Aint nothing like freezing your butt off while enjoying such a good band from 200 meters away. They had very long intros to each track, and even though I've listened to them since, the sound on their records just isn't the same at all.
Many more than that, but the rest were either Danish, or just not big enough for anyone to really give a damn.
Better to be hated for who you are, than loved for who you're not.

You do realise you can leave Oxford, and you could go and see the bands, rather than waiting for them to come to you London isn't exactly a million miles away from you

These are a "few" bands I´ve seen at festivals and can recall. There are much more but unfortunatly my memory capacity is rather limited. This year I´m going back to a festival with already a few names known:
David Bowie, The Darkness, Metallica, Pixies, T. Raumschmiere, The White Stripes, ...

Being older (37) I've seen quite a few, but here are some that I'd consider 'epic':
- Miles Davis in 1984 and 1986 (he died in '91)
- Jaco Pastorius in 1983 (he died in 1987)
- Police in 1981 (post Zenyatta) and 1982 (Post Ghost)
- Bobby McFerrin in 1985 - one man, one voice ... hard to believe.
- Bobby McFerrin in 1991 - Most Disappointing Ever - Take 6 (warm up) sang boring songs for 2 hours, then Bobby basically sat there while Voicestra sang ... we left early ...
- Mahavishnu Orchestra 1984 - end of an era in fusion, featuring the US debut of epic bassist Jonas 'Hurricane' Hellborg.
- Pat Metheny Group in 1982, before they were the biggest thing in Jazz.
- Chick & Wayne & Al - a small tour in 1982 of three greats ...no album or anything
- The Who in 1981.

I had a chance to go to see them on 'The Wall' tour way back when ... but wasn't really a big fan, and my tastes had overwhelmingly veered to avant-garde jazz, so I let my friends go without me.
And, while I still am not a fan, it is with some perspective that I can see that would have been epic concert - like the Stones 'Start Me Up' tour I passed on (never though much of the stones, either)

The only concert I went to (since it cost me nothing) was KixFest 2000 and I was young and stupid at the time, and actually really really liked Country music, and I saw Phil Vassar, Diamond Rio, Darry Worley and LeAnn Womack. But I wanted to see Limp Bizkit, Metallica, Mudvayne, and Linkin Park when they were doing the Summer Sanitarium last summer, but I had to leave town on a family emergency, so I ended up missing the concert

Battle of the Bands
I have the dubious serendipity of having seen a few bands before they became HUGE....saw Nirvana many moons ago at a sub-pop promotion tour. I thought they were a bunch of stoners, even back then Kurt did the 'jump on Dave Grohls drumkit' thang...I really went to this gig to see Mudhoney, who ROCK, but never broke through into the mainstream, especially after Nirvana made it big....
Saw Rage Against the Machine at a festival here too just before their Evil Empire album came out, so mainly tracks off the first record only, they were more underground back then.....
I actually mainly do attend festivals, and have seen
Chilli Peppers
Foo Fighters ....which Im not really huge fans of
I HAVE seen Public Enemy, as far back as 1990, on their first tour here to Austalia. I have seen the Beastie Boys too. I do think they are verging on being a little too self righteous nowadays but I guess that comes with age and $$$...... The only rap acts that I would still love to see are KRS-1 and maybe Ice-T but Im sures he's too busy with "SVU" nowadays
In the metal world, I have seen Slayer, Morbid Angel, Metallica(1989 only...after that they dont exist for me....), Sepultura(1990 I think) and a few of others I wont bore you with.......really want to see Deicide, but they have never made it Australia....
Other notables include The Prodigy, Iggy Pop, Bjork, Chemical Bros, Portishead, even Prince, and yes, my favourite soprano, the wonderful Ms Emma Kirkby...sublime voice tra la la !!!
I have seen and even met Henry Rollins enough times to have almost lost count, he's down here ALL the time......
Posthumously I wish I was old enough to have seen
The Doors, Led Zepp and Black Sabbath in their heyday...
I think that's most of it...I really feel OLD now, with all this nostalgia !
ALSO, to Darth Groovy above, Im a tad envious !! Probably the ONLY reason I've ever wished I lived in the US.....
Special mention goes to Atari Teenage Riot. now defunct, but most innovative and brutal 'electronic' act ever....

The crowd was getting kinda violent, this was before bodysurfing was prohibited. The venue at the time, had a great deal of folding chairs, which get knocked all cattywompus when a mosh pit breaks out. Well alot of fine upstanding citizens were picking up folding chairs and smashing the floor with them, after a few "gentlemen", were escorted out by security, lead singer Mike Patton, pulled up a chair and smashed it on the stage. Alot of fun that Mike Patton is...

Weird Al in the fifth grade, I think. I met up with my two best friends the day of the concert there. Good times.
This was when I was like, all Weird Al oriented. All of us ten year olds were.
So yeah, I've only seen Weird Al. We don't get many concerts up here near Blaine.

Are you talking about Blaine, Washington, or someother country/city?
Anywho. Does anybody know if AC-DC is still doing theor concert thing. I know they are old, but they are my favorite band.
Almost forgot, my friends played a concert for one of the local elementary school picnics. It was a little lame, yet better than the obnoxious blow up clown.
