The full body Anakin pic (photoshop job) is a composite from EP3 makeup tests. The arm is the only thing not from a real Episode III source.

Grevious looks a lot more promising in that picture. I can confirm that is the picture of Grevious that HS members got to see in the latest Making of Web Doc.

Interesting, from Darth Exar Kun's link, it looks like palpy's saber hilt is much shorter than everyone else's...maybe he uses 2....

edit: though, as I look closer at the other pic, I'm not sure...it would be cool if he had 2...

Hey, he is The Chosen One. And who knows if he falls right into the lava or what. He probably, just as a natural reaction, uses his powers to keep himself alive as long as possible, even if it means loosing body parts and such.

i was think bout this, he may not have fallen right into it, he could have fallen on the side and the heat would have been enough to burn ani really badly and secondly didn't obi wan save him from the lava pit (can't remember where i read that)

Powers that have never manifested themselves before now? Personally, I wasn't impressed with his "powers" in Episode 2 (it's obvious he suffers from an extreme lack of concentration), and I imagine that if he were to fall into the searing pain would be too great to allow for concentration of any kind (assuming he could even survive for long enough to concentrate - I'll get to that in a second).

Taking a dip in lava is the only way to get there, you think?

Indeed, that's a more likely scenario, if you want to believe the "lava" theory.

When lava is flowing, its average temperature is 1300-1500 degrees Centigrade (or roughly 2350-2750 degrees Farenheit).
To put that in perspective, cast iron melts at about 2100 degrees Farenheit and steel melts at roughly 2700 degrees. The human body is made up of considerably weaker stuff, and Jedi are no exception. The only thing that would possibly survive if Anakin were to fall into an active lava flow would be his mechanical hand.

However, by the time his body hit the lava, he'd likely be unconscious from the extreme heat and fumes and before he even hit the surface his bodily fluids would be boiling (his brain would be literally be boiling in his skull).

I don't have an alternative theory to give you in place of the ridiculous "lava" theory - all I can say is that if GL expects people to swallow that load of bull dung then he's off his rocker.

I can't believe we're arguing over something neither of us has a clue even happens or how it happens so I'll just justify my assumption with something smart assy.

Here it is: He doesn't need to concentrate when he's being fueled by hate. Hate is what fuels them, after all. His hate keeps him alive in the lava. Who made you pope o' SW town and said he can only use powers that he used in the other movies? Much less what extent of those powers are? Why couldn't he save himself? Actually, Palpy saves him so maybe his powers have a hand in it too? Who knows? I sure don't and you sure as hell don't either. Nobody knows yet! You're riding the whole lava theory off because of limits that you have set on everything.

We can't really even argue about this until we see exactly what happens to him and by then, we'll also see how he survives. So arguing over this is about as productive as nailing my genitals to drywall.

I'm going to go find some drywall now. I'll see you when episode III comes out.

this is the star wars universe remember, normal physics and such dont really aply as they do in our constricting universe. how else is he going to get a full body tan and need many cibernetic (sp) organ implants from internal injury, plus his face is just f***** up beyond comprehension. not much else could could do that to him now that i think about it. (but i never think so...)

At the end of Terminator 2 there was something equally as hot as lava and that scene was pretty f***ing awesome.
And in both of those cases, what happened to the characters that touched the lava? Keep in mind that even Gollum's fall into the lava was stretched out beyond the limits of physics - he would've melted much faster (but hey, it's Hollywood... err, New Zealand).

Just so long as you're prepared for my retort...

Incredible - I never knew that hate could keep you alive when all physical traces of your body have been melted away. And why shouldn't it? It worked so well for the Emperor when he took a nose dive into that Death Star shaft that Vader chucked him into. His awesome powers saved him from his gruesome death there. Or wait, was it his hate? I'm confused.
Quote:

If you must know, it was GL and the Continuity Brothers.
Quote:

Ah yes, Palpy's powers. They helped him out greatly when he was plummeting to his death down that shaft, as I've already pointed out above.

I readily admit that I don't know, but I'd like to think that GL wouldn't be totally lame and go with some explanation that was created in the late 70's / early 80's which everyone and their brother has already heard about. The "lava theory" is the Star Wars version of an urban legend. GL knows that everyone has heard it and besides - when was the last time he did something that everyone expected?

I hope your drywall procedure is productive.

The SW universe has actually been fairly good at basing their physics on real-world physics, which lends credibility and makes the movies all the more believeable. I really can't see GL making such a drastic departure from the way he's handled things over the last 5 episodes, but time will tell.

Ya know, when you see a lava planet in two web docs and you here in chats about the *special* planet and you know that originally George scripted his demise of the armour to lava - then something in my heart tells me LAVA.

maybe its not lava, but really hot Jello.

personally ever since i read the ANH book, i've always thought of the lava story being abit silly... but then all the book says is 'anakin fell into a volcano' or something like that. whereas i'm hoping the movie will tell us more than that.
i do think palpatine will have a hand in it... i mean, ok so he can't fly, but maybe he has some other means to help anakin.

we will see.
as Rhett said, theres no point arguing about it until we know the specifics
