Post WIP: Durge (Clone Wars)

Like the toon version about 10,000% more than the regular version, bought the damn action figure and then decided it was too cool not to be a model.

Still needs some refinement and I haven't started texturing yet.
The hands are a little odd as they are standard JediKnight model hands.

However, don't know if it will see the light of day in-game since unless someone is interested in tackling the conversion, I can't do any of the rigging with my software.

If someone is interested in helping, give me a PM

that's pretty cool. I Just wish someone could make a regular version too. But make it look good , I agree the non toon version of the toy = crap.

Looks good though love the model ^^

It'd be a little tricky with the proportion but not impossible.

remember to seperate so it nice and easy to weight and make sure it's in the DaVinci pose.

Also remove the guns (or make them a seperate mesh that you can hide) and add a new tag.

I'm getting with OJP to add in some weapon functionality. I want to make weapons sit idly on a model when not in use.

So far I'm using a bolt_holster_saber and bolt_holster_blaster.

Here's some testing screens I made. These are from Modview (not in-game), I bolted the saber models onto the new tags.

That is just awesome!.

I'm sure the guys at clone wars TC could use something like this.

I might be interested in helping out with the rigging.

Thumbs up

That would be VERY helpful Psyk0Sith.

I've segmented him into the apropriate parts and am just doing some fine tuning and starting to work on the UV texturing.
I think I will try a blend of the toons simplicity and the regular figures detail for the textures.

Keshire! That looks interesting with the lightsabers, but I'm not sure if the double bladed ones should hang from the belt as they're a bit long!!!

Keshire, you have no idea how much more pumped up I just got after hearing news about the 'holstered sabers'. Any chance this might be coming along with the version 5 of the OJP update?

Now for Monsoontide...

You did it again! Damn you, the modelling is so close to perfection... Very nice work.

I hope to add a couple more for larger weapons

like staff and rocket launcher draped across the back.

RazorAce is looking into it. The hard part would be retroactively adjusting the old models. You have to go in and add the tags and re-weight the entire thing.

Question Gun Problems

Slightly Off Topic, but I'm having problems with the biker scout blaster I'm making - anyone know a reason why the player model puts it's arms DOWN when you press fire?
Everything else seems to be just fine.

Was working on a little something to go with Durge today - screens tomorrow once I get some more done

Durge Speeder Bike

I still have a bit of work to do on the speeder-bike, especially the skull.

Would be happy to let the Clone Wars TC folks use these if they want.

I was thinking of making the lance replace the stan baton - not sure how that would work though, as the lance in the toon was VERY powerful, whereas the stun-baton is crap.

OK, have the UV mapping done (Apart from the hands), and some base texturing done to get the colours in place.
Now I just have to refine the skins and add the detail.

NO... because as I mentioned earlier he just looks STUPID.

It's like they were trying to do a new millenium Bobba Fett (Like when they did all those ultra buff Luke Skywalker action figures back in the 90's) and his proportions are all human - very average design - he looks more like a transformer, whereas, the toon version is all distorted, normal legs, huge chest and shoulders, long neck, small head.
Looks like he can take care of himself WITHOUT all the paraphernalia.

Still, I'm sure someone else may give it a go.

Sorry for the rant

Er... Keshire - no, it's not rigged yet... only just finished the UV mapping. All the sections are correct and have caps this time out though.

I'd agree. The comic looks like a run of the mill Bounty Hunter. To "normal" as Monsoon put it. They really took it to the extreme and made him different in the cartoon.

RJW_ca - if you can do that, that would be VERY helpful. But I don't seem to recall Durge making any sounds really... (But I've only seen the epsiodes a couple of times since LUCASFILM isn't letting out decent versions until they can sell it all on a DVD.)

OK just been busy getting the BETA of my Bast Castle SIEGE map ready for testing (And my work hours are back to normal), so will finally have some time to work on Durge again.

Just have to refine the skin now... And make some lods - then it'll be ready for weighting/rigging.

Then I can start UV mapping the bike

Instead of letting this project stagnate while I work on other things... (And Since it's all ready to go to the next stage in production - I'm just procrastinating about doing the skins for it), I was wondering if Psyk0Sith or anyone else may still be interested in starting work on weighting & rigging the damn thing.
Then I would at least have some motivation for finishing the skins
