Arrow WIP: Asajj Ventress

I deleted previous thread because it degenerated into a completely different discussion.

Finished UV Mapping (Minus tidying up the UV's a bit)
Textures are about 60% done - lots more detailing and fixes to be made. I intend to make it abit more hardcore bondage in style.

I still have a few adjustments to make to the model, then it will be ready for rigging. Will have to see how it goes. I imagine the dress will be a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the saber handle.

from what I can see from the top pic it looks like the models coming along pretty well

People who sin say this: They had to, to survive. People who sin say this: It's too late now to stop. The shadow called Sin dogs them steadily from behind, without a word. Remorse and Agony are repeated, to finally end up at Despair. But sinners don't know that if they turn around, there is a light... a light which keeps shining on them ever so warmly. A light that will never fade.

Sorry for my part in that discussion. This model is really looking good. It will be a fine complement to your Durge.

I've got a bad feeling about this...

What's up with these stuppid ads anyway? Can't they get them to move over relevant to the width of the thread?

Anyway don't forget, this is based on the TOON (Toy was used as 3D modeling reference) version of Asajj.

not to worry Ron, the debate was legitimate and interesting, just in the WRONG place.

I hope I can still help you with sounds for this model!?

I can make all sounds sound like her -- you shouldn't be disapointed.

In the commentary they mention basing her voice off of Eartha Kitt (second Catwoman in Batman tv series).

Very nice...

This is really taking shape. The character is a vary mysterious "Darth Maul" like character, and I seem to like those. Your Durge kicked ace, too. Nice job...

i like the look of it ... as close as one can get to the feel of the animated series.

but i think that is something working against it, mainly because it wouldn't 'fit' into the JA game ... but that's just my opinion.

i DO think it rocks.

Awsome

This will turn out great, as long as the skeleton doesn't distort it too bad when you start to rig it.

compared to some stuff I've seen before, it actually looks EXACTLY like her; just a little more realistic.

Well, there are maps being worked on based on the animated series.

If you do holster stuff, I'd recommend putting the tags in front criss-crossing each other.

It looks like animation-wise I should be able to mesh the holster stuff with the draw and putaway anims. And then make it saber specific at least.

OK, OK, I admit it, I've done nothing at all on this for some time.

However, will try and get it ready for rigging this weekend (Family allowing!)

? There's a Softimage Kit for making Halflife2 models. Since the Jedi Knight skeleton is in softimage, I wonder if it's possible to use the halflife 2 kit to do JA models? Someone want to test it out or am I just deluded? (I can't use softimage for s**t)

Yes, it does import dotxsi (.xsi) files but I have nothing to test it with.

trust me I think you'll like the improvements

Exclamation Using Xsi To Model In!

Looks like it may be possible to use the Softimage XSI EXP (Free cut down version) to make models for Jedi Knight as well.
At least partially, since I was able to successfully import the _humanoid.xsi file.

Not sure about getting it to export correctly though as I don't have any idea how to use softimage (yet)

export it "as is" and see if it compiles.

Either way I'm sure it will work. And it should be usable for animations too.

I've sent the model to Psyk0Sith for rigging, so I hope he received it as I haven't heard anything back.

This will probably be my last model for Jedi Academy as I'm interested in doing stuff for Half-Life 2 and have to learn how to use the (free) softimage tools for it.

I will release a incomplete model pack for anyone who is interested in finishing of some of my the vehicles I was working on.

Started working on the model this week.

I've adjusted the proportions to fit the skeleton.

Oh and monsoon, never put arms and legs on the same uvw maps: the legs need to blend with the hips (same thing for the arms with the torso), good thing Assajj wears a dress so it wont be a problem .

I'll still be doing some mapping, it's just the modeling for JA I won't be doing (Unless they come up with a DECENT sequel Jedi Academy game - I'm Hoping for Jedi Academy: Jedi Master , where you get to train your own padawans .)

As long as its released publically, I'll be glad my patience paid off.

The pic is good! She's really menacing yet sort-of graceful-looking. A true Dark Jedi for JK3!

You know, the usual: sounds, texture adjustments, caps, finger weights, outline for cel shaded version. Maybe a LOD but i'm not sure.

Yes it will be released to the public, it's monsoon's model .

icons, npc file, bot file, team skins...

Will be trying to get to finishing the textures after the long weekend.
Hopefully will get time to do something slightly different for the team skins.
Maybe a "Good/Jedi" Assaj and an "Evil/Sith?" Assaj. (Since she never quite made it to Sith level in the cartoon.

Though Ventress longed to identify herself as a Sith, she did not receive Sith training. While Dooku helped hone her talents, he taught her none of the knowledge unique to the Sith. Her skills were a combination of incomplete Jedi training coupled with her own techniques. Her raw talents and bottomless well of anger and pain bolstered her dark side abilities. Giving into her rage granted her further powers.

The team skins would be cool though. Gonna use keshire's toon sabers right?

As I suggested, for the "good Jedi" version (team Blue), maybe a bit of "robe-like" clothes on her? Or at least some tabbards? *shrug* And I agree for Team Red skins, Monsoon.

Good work on her, I really like the model.
