Question Battlefield - 2

btw: I figured that, if a multiplayer version at all achieveable through modding, the battlefield could be an excelent base for multiplayer action. Imagine fighting with your pal in a giant plain filled with 10000 siths/st's and republic forces...

...however I myself think of this as a bit unreallistic.

Multi-player never gonna happen with kotor. I repeat NEVER GONNA HAPPEN WITH KOTOR. Now to your other request there is a arena mod out there that allows you to fight hordes of bad guys look for it in the tools sticky it's been out for quite a while.

alright. now another of my ideas:

since someone made some tweaks to the vader armor of tomer (i think its his work, if not, correct me, im too lazy ) with the cape at the back, the vader helmet i found here some weeks ago and the upcoming movie "episode 3: revenge of the sith"; i thought it would cool if someone can make a reskin for a younger anakin than the one on a russian site. and with ls to ds transitions i saw in the trailer of the movie. u know, with his aggressive yellow/red eyes equipped with a light bright robe at the beginning, and the reskinned vader armor with the cape thingy, after beating the sithlords tombs on korriban

i think it would be a really cool combination.

and btw. as i thought of this:

Here's something I would love to see done. I hate it how masks don't show up in cutscenes. If someone could make a mod that makes them show up, that would be great. AND, I also hate it how in the LS ending they plop your PC in those horrid jedi robes! I mean, it totally detracts from the end! So, if someone could make a mod that removes that feture, that would be great.

Should be in request thread.
I think no one did Droid Recruit Mod because there are just few droids in the game which appear a lot, so the character won't be unique. But that's a good idea.

although, all the new Modders with modeling skills, could add or remove a few things on a droid template to make a big change, then hopefully a unique character, Svosh, T7nowhere and even Mono_Giganto your opinions / ideas / objections / comments etc.

As for you Matt, you wanted my opinion.

True it would be relatively easy to make custom STATS for a new droid recruit, BUT--

It would still be rather boring without a custom APPEARANCE, which would probably require a new model, and a new model would require new animations, see where I'm going with this?

Maybe an uber-master skinner like svosh could make a droid skin of of another model, but....

Yes I've seen that, and it's very well done, but you can still tell that it was based off of HK-47, and that's a svosh skin too, and if you get my meaning, very few others could make a skin that looks so much different from the original and still look well done.

I hate the dorky, mundane looking swords in the game, i need a sword for my non-jedi chars to use that will inspire fear or at least look cool.

I think someone has already made one or two, however i can't find them, could someone make them or point me in there direction. Thanks

Well I had started a droid recruit mod package back at the beginning of october that went along with another mod I had started. When I finish my Recruit Darkkender mod completly I will finish the droids I could however use some good skins for HK, T3, and a some of the other droid types. One of the droids I plan to make recruitable will be the assasin droid hiding in the temple on korriban.

Apart form what ChAiNz pointed you at, there are quite a few mods around that add new playable characters. Look at pcgamemods.com. You can also use tk102's KSE to modify your party as you want (appearance, stats, equipment, class, etc)

Hi people

I have two questions. First, is there a KOTOR API? (Apidocs ) I'd like to start modding myself, and although kotortool (among others) are great programs to toddle around with, I still like to program/script from the 'scratch'.

Second, is there a mod that lets Juhani join you, but without redeeming her? So that she is still a darksider, I mean. Complete with story and others. It would take changing her lines and her choice to join you at the Rakatan temple at Unknown world. (Just changing her alignment is something even I can do ) And maybe even letting her meet her former master Quatra somewhere too..and.. *blabla, I'm asking too much.*

Can it be done?

It can be done, but just barely; it is a force alignment change in KT, a Dialog edit, and a script (easy). The hard part is the unkown world (Might have to ask an expert here). Quatra is easy to add (NPC spawn, DLG), Maybe she's a Quarren....

As EnderWiggin already answered the second question, I'll take care of the first one: Kotor modding does not receive official support and no API docs have been released or will ever be released by Lucas Arts or Bioware/Obsidian. And even if modding was supported, I just can't imagine Lucas Arts releasing such docs for a Star Wars game.

If you were planning to do this, then making the mod you propose should be easy Simple dialogue editing and a few scripts (look at nwscript.nss for the functions) .

I created a dll that you can use for manipulating GFF files, which make up almost half of the KotOR files. It's called gff_ctrl.dll and is available at http://www.pcgamemods.com/6 in the utilities section.

It could be handy to make such a APIdoc of our own.. there are so many methods already, just to have an overview would be really..helpful

And thank you tk102, I'll look into it. Altough after my last format I "lost" my visual Basic, lol, so lets see what I can do with perl and java instead.
