Joystick incompatibility?

I've been playing Battlefront for PC & enjoy it quite a bit. However, while configuring the controls, I wanted to set the joystick for all starfighters. My controller is connected & the buttons were easilly binded, but does anyone know how to enable it so the typical functions (left, rudder, etc) work to fly?

Thanks,
Bryant

I think i read a post where someone said he had a problem with binding mouse buttons and only keyboard and joystick worked

edit: here
