Get over it

I'm as big a PC fan as any of you guys...guess what? The PC version of swbf isn't any good so get over it. Play it on PS2 like most pc gamers are doing anyways. It's more fun. Play CS on your PC, SWBF is for consoles, and it's pretty damn obvious.

The day is rapidly appraoching...Pc online gaming is getting less and less attractive as more advanced consoles come out and better games are released for them online. My computer is one hell of a machine, runs FPS games perfectly (I bought it for the sole purpose of gaming) and I havnt used it since I bought the ps2 version of SWBF. Laying on your couch with a controller and your feet up beats the hell out of pc gaming any day.

True, but take a look at the posts. The PS2 and X box users seem to be satisfied while most of the PC users are quite unhappy with this game. The pc community for SWBF is nowhere as strong as communities for games such as BF42, Half Life, UT, Jedi Academy, etc. In my opinion (and it is just MY opinion so don't bother flaming me if you all don't agree with it), chances are the pc version of the battlefront community probably won't survive nearly as long as the others without these modding tools. If it wasn't for news of an upcoming patch a lot of players (including myself) would have moved on to other more exciting and much better built online multiplayer games for the PC.

Hi. Do you actually think before posting or just close your eyes and mash some buttons? Aside from the fact that as evidenced here and the lucasarts forums a great number of PC players are NOT playing the game on a console, your suggestion of "play it on the ps2" is utterly ridiculous. Under your logic, I am to go out and purchase a $200 console just so I can play title that should be play correctly (and arguably with more depth) on the PC?
As for your preference of "sitting on the couch with a controller and your feet up" over playing a game on the PC ... well we all have our vices and dillemmas to overcome. Keyboard + Mouse is a difficult skill to master, to be sure.

PC Online gaming getting less and less attractive? Did you come up with this information through statistics researched and created on your "hell of a machine" or is this further padding of your fantasy? Lots of machines run FPS games perfectly, however you're not commenting on performance much are you?

The developers have to release the modding tools, or it's all just a pipe dream. Furthemore, there has to be serious groups willing to put in the time to get those projects up and off the ground. I dread the 20 million "HEY GUYZ I'VE GOT A GREAT IDEA FOR A BATTLEFRONT MOD. IT HAS TO DO WITH STORMTROOPERS AS PIRATES AND THE REBELS AS NINJAS. WE'LL PROBABLY DO SOMETHING COOL WITH VEHICLES AND HAVE CHINESE STARS AS A WEAPON TYPE!!!! NE1 INTERESTED SHOULD EMAIL ME. IF YOU HAVE CODING SKILLS THAT'S A PLUS BUT GRAPHIC ARTISTS AND PEOPLE THAT WANT TO GIVE INPUT LET ME KNOW!!!"
posts that are bound to happen if and when the tools or source is released.

Besides, to have people working a mod on non-finished product would just be a frustrating and horrid task. I'd rather Pandemic release a proper patch and THEN let the modders come in.

Not to worry. A good protion of Star Wars fans are perfectionists when it comes to stuff like this. I am willing to be that not only will we see maps and mods for this game done right, but maps and mods that will signifigantly improve the game to a point that the original battlefront never even aspired to be. So have faith!

I believe we will see more maps and a "realism" mod à la Forgotten Hope.

I don't have the game, but I agree that it appears that the PC version at least needs either a patch or mod improvements for the community to last. I'm just saying that mod tools aren't going to magically fix all the problems, and it may introduce others as well. In essense, be careful what you wish for.

Very True
Allot of people don't remember the problems BF:1942 had on its first release. That didn't stop people from modding though. Then after the first two patches some modders were thrown into spin. File structures were changed by the patches breaking some mods. With additional patches to help modders, more changes were made. So hatelull has a point about the current state of the game. It's better to get it patched and working proper than start working on something that may get broken as patches are released.

I'll school you on any pc game with a mouse and keyboard. You obviously aren't any good with a controller( and obviously havn't ever even played a console fps online) or you'd know exactly how difficult it is to master analog aiming. A mouse is pretty damn easy to point and click; as long as youre familiar with the engine of the game you should be good at whatever it is. I've played HL since the beggining, and still do, all the Quakes, Tribes, RTCW, BF1942 and i say youre wrong. You want to see skills?? Go play Socom 2. Better yet play me in any game of your choice. I'm serious you name it I'll win. We can even register the match if youd like.

Bullcrap.
It depends on the person and is a question of adaptation.
A lot of my friends play both console and PC FPS games and they're always better in one of the other.
Just because what you say is good for you doesn't mean it's good for everyone.

I agree with Hatelull.

Wow... How Rude lol schooling lol
pssst... secret..
Console online games blow compared to PC...
controlers suck exept in sports games..
I've Played em all on my XBox.
And Im always, always disapointed.
WHY?
Consoles just don't have the same amount of depth to them as the PC games. They (console games) on average are dumbed down when looking at the same kind of game on a PC.
Wolfenstien, Clonewars or Rainbow 6 online are awful to name a few, when comparing to PC games.
FPS aiming with a controller is lame, most consoles have horrible control setups.
Also a mouse ain't point n click for games. The skill is to follow your target, and lead your shot to aim to hit the head or what ever.
On consoles they have auto aim or have a kind of preset spot to push up towards, in order to get a headshot for example.
Not that skillful....
Also online connections for consoles generally suck because of home hosted servers of some lame skillz, schoolin' dude on his couch.

I have faith that Pandemic is doing something to help this game. They released from the bottom to top instead of the other way around yes. Still a PC can be patched, I was still disappointed in BF42 until Merciless came around, the sound was awful before that, now I get awesome sound and textures. This is not a console vs PC thread man we went through 80 of those.

The game on PC is not that bad, only thing is multiplayer and some of those skins ie ATAT interior, yuck! The communications, and all of this can be fixed. "Patience" ObiWan

Thank you sir may I have another

Later,
You are saying things that simply are not true. You say all console games have auto aim...there's no point in even responding this...youve obviously never played any. I win.

And by the way, I'll school you too on any pc game you want. Just let me know, unless you're scared like that other guy.

Again?

wow tough guy you win ha ha.
right
Fragster how can you spew garbage.
You say its not true um ok.
Most consoles do have auto aim (selectable) so don't give me that they don't. I have a xbox/live and gamecube and over 40 games. The Xbox sits in the corner and gamecube for freinds to play when they visit. Xbox online isn't as good as pc mp online.
PS2 ummm no thanks.
Consoles do some things right (single player, kids games, sports ect) but really, compared to PC they don't do MP FPS right. Period.
SWBF needs work big time, but a PC game wins every time for online play for FPS.
Come on 50 players or even 32 vs 16.
MODS is also a big plus for the online PC, but you must know this as you said you played CS.
Its not hard to figure out.
I ve been playing all the big MP online FPS's for years and years.
You look like a clown saying your going to school everyone.
And lose respect big time.
