Admin's can boot yo ass out now if you are being a bastard...

The lobby is VERY much improved. Haven't had time to stress test it, but I'm hoping the map cycling bug on the servers is really fixed like they said. Great patch so far!!!

Yay!

The patch is out. So now everyone can stop whining, and I can stop defending the whiners.

AND I didn't get in trouble for talking out of my ass. Good times good times.

Unfortunately guys,

Yup that's right. Though they said they fixed the latency for entering vehicles I don't know yet if that makes +30 fps "playable". Latency means ping, and not fps though.

On the other hand the server browser is a huge difference

Left above: you can enter a word and all servers that correspond with it will appear. Very helpful if you're looking for a specific server, or clan servers etc.

You can't filter "No full servers/empty servers" but you can set a minimum. Also you can choose which map, which type (PC (no linux yet) dedicated etc).

Servers don't "spawn" in the list anymore. When you click on online you'll get a busy loading screen, and then the servers will appear. I like this.

You also get a lot more server info, FPS/TPS is not included.

After a map is done the "Done" will wait for a second, and after you click it the new map will immediately start to load. No more "BUSY" or whatever, you connect to the other map. right away.

Also in options->online options,
search for all regions is set to default NO. Yes if you want more servers. You can also change the gamespy log-in, to automatic or never ask for it.

Now that they fixed the browser we want gameplay differences (damage system), FPS fix, and some new stuff.
1.1 is a good patch though.

If they'd just let us be able to kick/ban remotely then I'd be a happy camper. No server admin is going to log on to the server itself (whereever that may be) just to kick someone. Plus if you have multiple admins, it's impossible. One small addition is all that's needed to bring this game up to speed server wise.

I was expecting more in this patch. Couple of things I think they should have added. A favorites list in the server browser(atleast I dont think they added that I cant find it if they did.) The menus should have been redone completely. They should have found some way to admin the server in game. Although with the engine they made I dont think it will be possible but they should have thought about that in development. And I wish they could have had the ticket counter system more advanced. Like it could tell if 50 people were in and on the next map switch automatically bump up the tickets. Because when there is 50 people on a 500 ticket count its fun but when there is only 10 it sucks. Those are just a couple of little things I wish they would have taken the day or two to add. The other things like fps and ship control and gameplay and balancing I understand will take a long time to do. I just hope they will finish what they started. And hopefully in the next major patch include that stuff and also include a new map or two. Just my thoughts. And I am hoping they fixed the server program so it doesnt crash. I am testing that out right now.

I'm stuck at work, so I can't try this until later... but if anyone's playing this now or hosting now, I have a couple questions:

1) How is invincibility working? Can you move? Can you shoot?
2) I'm looking at All Seeing Eye and the 1.1 servers show a lot more useful information than the 1.0 ones do. But there is a selection that is confusing:

Autoaim = 1

I didn't know that was an option for the PC version.

As an aside for ASE users, there's also server info for Heros, AI Difficulty Level, Invincibility Time, Show Playername, Team Damage and Current Ticket Count.

This info should add some pretty cool ASE filters once the programmers get around to updating it

From what my clan mate told me, you are frozen for the invincibility period. You can move, can't shoot. You just sit there waiting until you are unfrozen. I guess a tank or other vehicle can blast you while you are frozen and you go flying. You don't actually die, you just stand up frozen until the invincibilty is over.

In other words sounds like it doesn't work well at all. Not gonna solve the spawn humping problem.

I'll be trying it later on tonight, but from what i hear it sounds good. However I -REALLY- need to know what the netcode is like with it now... Is it still laggy or is the ping sorted and is it as smooth as single player?

Thanks. Couldnt find an ansewer anywere else.

If by smooth you mean as in FPS, then no, the FPS cap still exists, as well as no spec mode

Why is there a cap anyway?
The thing Im now wondering is, if there is a cap to the fps, what will it take to unlock it.Could an industrious modder find a way around it.

For eight hundred years have I trained Jedi. My own counsel will I keep on who is to be trained! A Jedi must have the deepest commitment, the most serious mind.
This one....a long time have I watched. Never his mind on where he was. Hmmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! A Jedi craves not these things.

You are reckless!

there is/was a command (for command line paramter) to increase the tps/fps, but people had a hard time trying to enter vehicles then. Unfortunately only a very few servers did this

Quote:
Pandemic>Dice
Pandemic should have never released all these bugs anyway (server browser etc). Pandemic is just fixing a few stuff atm, dice added maps vehicles etc.
Pandemic should have fixed the cap rather than implementing a spawn invinciblity almost no one likes

I'm happy with the patch but dissapointed in a whole. This should be the only game in history to have a multiplayer fps cap. Imagine if this trend continued, no more minimal requirements but Maximal requirements. They still got a long way to go but at least they're working on it step by step

1-DICE did just as bad if not worse with BFV.
2-DICE games still suffer from imbalances. They should concentrate on fixing stuff before adding new ones. Also, adding no maps helps the patch get released faster.
If you wanted to wait longer, fine by me. I prefer a patch that fixes some critical problems(browser).
3-I think that they actually want to keep the cap.

I'm realizing that no one is ever f*cking happy with anything. People complained against DICE for releasing small patches months after the release with a little more content. Now people are complaining because it comes out faster and doesn't have as much content.

You should change your nick to "Lukeiamretarded". How dare you compare this piece of bantha fodder to such pc gems as the BF series. Even with all the trouble BF42 & BFV had, they were infinitely more playable straight out the box, and never even came close to the cluster**** that is SWBF. We've been given 3 patches for SWB that haven't done ****. Ooooohhhh, a better browser. Now I can find laggy ass servers that cap me to 20 fps faster.

I was willing to wait around till the first "official" patch (the first 2 were jokes). I downloaded it, jumped on a few servers (still couldn't find any 30 fps servers, only 20's) and the gameplay is just as ****ty as before. The only difference is that you are invulnerable a short time after spawn, but it doesn't work for **** and is basically useless.

I bought the game the day it was released and I've tried to be patient and optimistic, waiting for Pandemic to fix the "real" issues. I can't wait for a 4th patch, I'm done. This has to be the worst disaster in fps history, tied with Daikatana. This game goes back to EB tomorrow for credit toward Halo 2, and I will never.....NEVER buy anything from Pandemic again! SWBF was dead before it even got started. There are just way too many issues that need to be addressed. Have fun on the 6 servers that actually have anyone in them. Till then, I'll be playing a real game...BF42.

Hmm if you have nothing better then flames to post, don't.

I won't even reply for that was just the stupid kind of crappy ranting. Don't like it, don't buy it, don't play it. Just shut up.

While I'll agree that the Battlefield 1942 was a great game out of the box (though there was a patch released fairly soon after it came out to address problems as well), I won't go as far as saying that BF:V was *more* playable out of the box than Star Wars: Battlefront.

Battlefield: Vietnam is the #1 reason I will never ever pre-order a game again. By the time patches came out to fix its many problems, the game was 6+ months old. I happily uninstalled it for Battlefront.

I realy like the new patch.
Not that it makes the game perfect but a big step forward in the right direction.
Now i can stay in servers for hours. The AI on hard setting seams to hard for me,lol. I need more practice then ;-)
Ingame browser is a big plus. So far i know yet all promised things work like expectet.
A few things i want to mention for the next patch.
* The Yavin IV sky texture is still missing (all grey sky now)
* Get rid of the fps cap. Not that it bothered me that much but i would like to play online like offline.
* I would like to be able to chat while in the selection screen because this is the place where i have most time to chat while waiting to respawn
* Name or number the spawn points on the map. Sometimes it hard to tell my comrads if i will warn them about campers or snipers at specific spawnpoints.
* A Galactic war campaign for online play. If a faction win a map then they should have the momentum on the next map ( more tickets, or damaged enemy vehicles for example).
* A chat window in the ingame server browser would be nice too (well don´t ask where to fit this into the screen hehe)

But before the next patch i would like to see the linux server and the SDK or any tools for the mod community.

Conclusion: Congrats Pandemic but don´t take a rest now!

And you blame the developers? First of all, server admins can set the tps to 30 without any tweaking. It's just an option. And secondly: if you can't find any server that has higher than 20 fps then that's your fault, since there are tweaked servers out there.

Apparently, you haven't played much fps games before, cause even if this game were less good than BF1942 (since you seem to like that game so much), there are a lot of worse games out there. Did I mention you should say things as if they were facts?

A threath towards Pandemic! They must be terrified! Your loss, m8. We can't be bothered. In fact, I think it would be better for your mood anyway and that will keep you from posting nonsense like you did.

I like the patch, myself. The server browser is a whole hell of a lot better than before.

Is it me or did they just add the option to turn off the Gamespy login? It's in the same section where you raise the ticks per second. I never noticed it before.

Hey Alegis. See? I DO learn certain abilities from the clan

But then I take back what I said about that 20 fps stuff. I never hosted dedicated and I thought it was almost as easy as using the ingame option of 30 fps. But not matter.

Thanks for the compliments, lukeiamyourdad. It was indeed some work, but the results aren't half bad, if I may say so myself

Belly-button lasers! I've seen them!

3 small patches in three months. Not bad, but hardly great. What it does show is that Pandemic has not shelved the game as a loss. They are working on it.

More importantly in comparing BF:1942 to SW:Battle front. Pandemic plans to release tools for the mod community. I'm sure once the game is patched up proper, there will be a tools release. Dice never released tools for BF:1942.

Quick 1.1 question...

My sincere apologies but I have not had much time to play and see for myself... I was wondering if anyone has noticed any stability improvments since the patch. Primarily when the maps switch; since release it was almost a roll of the dice to see if the server was going to hold up.

Not to mention if it was full, it was almost certain.

I imagine this was one of the first things that was worked on, but I am just curious if anyone has noticed a difference, or if there are still some issues that need working out.

Thanks in advance.
