How do I make elevator work at Kejim Post?

I've just started playing Jedi Outcast and it's been a while since I've done any gaming at all.

At Kejim Post (the very beginning), I've reached the point where Jan and I need to get through the blast door.

I've gone around the corner to an office, killed an Imperial and taken his supply key. Now it looks like I need to go up an elevator to do something else but I can't get it to work.

Should the elevator just work when I step in it? Or is there some key I need to hit to make it go up?

Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm stuck and can't find instructions. Thank you. - BK

I was in the same boat and just played around on my keyboard until I found the Ctrl key which got me right up the elevator. Post more if you have trouble, I might be at the same spot. Thanks for your post.
