Exclamation The Call of Cthulhu

Helloooooooo, can you hear that sound? It's the end I tell you!
Does anyone out there ever heard of Cthulhu and the Elder gods?
And H.P. Lovecraft or Abdul Al-hazered?

I've not read any of Lovecrafts novels yet, but I remember playing the old Call of Cthulhu point-and-click adventure games. Shadow of the Comet was great, but I never finished Prisoner of Ice. And of course, the thousand upon thousand of heavy metal songs that take their name from that.. tentacle thing or whatever it is, I like a lot of those. Metallicas' Ride The Lightning effort is probably my favourite.

I know ptdc and serge are into that stuff, but the former is on the rickety wooden bridge of alcoholism, and it's blowing a gale. As for serge, he's never around, and when he is I expect this is the last place he'd come. So that is no help to anyone.

I've read At The Mountains Of Madness and other tales of terror and found it fairly entertaining. I don't get the big whoo some people seem to get from his stories, but maybe that's just me.

So, when's that game Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth coming out then?

I agree on Metallica's The Call Of Ktulu song. Their instrumentals are great.

P.S.: Look at the art of that book! Ain't Michael Whelan the greatest (apart from Keith Parkinson)!

Someone here used to have Cthulhu as thier avatar... I just forget who it was. *Stops and reads other posts in thread* Oh yeah,.. PTDC... that was it.

I've read most of Lovecraft... and re-read a lot of it just recently.

The Dream-Quest stuff is still my favorite.

I used to have a copy of what was supposedly the "text" of the Necronomicon... nonsense of course, but an interesting conversation piece to have around for those in the know.

It was supposed to last year (or maybe 2003...). After a month of waiting I stopped.

"Has a dark creature tried to devour you from underneath your bed? Has a Goblin tried to steal your legs? Has a Incubus tried to...uhum. If not call the Necroman, he'll even rise from the grave and pay your taxes to get a good deal. He can summon anything, from 3 legged frogs to Cthulhu himself! And remember with every double summoning you get a free human skull from the last foolish mortal...uhum...from the last satisfied customer. He even accepts souls instead of cold, hard cash. So remember just read this out loud:Ph'nglui maglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh Wgah'nagl fhtan. And he'll be standin' next to ya' before you can say:Ph'nglui maglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh Wgah'nagl fhtan."
