How much longer will the books last?

Do you think the story and franchise will be dead by the time Imperial Commando is released?

Personally, I'd say it's already dead.

Are you sure? Lucas Books says it's coming out September 2009, to be followed by yet another. Someone at Lucas Books needs to realise that Traviss can't wriite even if her life depended on it.

Even if is released. I doubt many people would buy it, as you said, Traviss can't write.

I wasn't able to even finish Triple Zero it was so boring...

There was some concept art produced(Which can be seen in Rogue Leaders), and that was the end of it.

I beleive the book Order 66 is a continuation of the RC series in the Imperial times, i'm not sure though.

The book by Traviss? Then yes, sir, you are correct.

Imperial Commando's release may possibly ruin the story.

You guys dont know what you're babling about. Seriously. Even with Traviss continuing the Republic Commando books starting with Imperial Commando: 501st they are still good.
I love them and Im not the only one. Ive just started reading True Colors cause Ive been busy catching up on my gaming.
She is excellent at writing the RC/IC novels. You guys dont know what you're talking about when you say she cant write and Im saying this as a RC/IC vet.
Im not meaning any offence.
And to answer your question they will last aslong as they have a decent story still going and lucas books wants it to.
But you guys need to ease off Traviss. Shes one of my favorite writers. She does excellent work on the RC/IC novels and she did great work on the 3 LotF books she did. You guys should take another look at her work.
Well thats my long rant/comment.
Later.

i agree B65 Traviss did a great job with the RC books and they prolly will continue as far as the game unless some miracle from heaven happens then there prolly wont be a RC 2 or IC or anything to that extent. Other than that yeah you guys should lay off traviss read some of her other novels and see if you like it if not then fine you are entitled to your opinion.

Traviss is an amazing author! You guys can't judge her when you haven't even read all her books. All the RC books have been great and I'm looking forward too IC when it comes out in september I think. But she is really a great author.

If you didn't like the RC books, try her Gears of War: Aspho Fields. That was a great novel!

Stalking through the desert in the dark of night
Just me and my rifle looking for a fight
Spotter points forward and we hit the ground
In my bolt action I place one round
I close my eyes and take a deep breath
Exhale slowly and await another death
Sqeezing the trigger, never pulling back
The only sound you hear is one loud crack
Target hits the ground and struggles for his life
As I carve another notch in the stock with my knife

The books may last a long time, and the game will probably become forgotten.

A great author to me is someone like H.G. Wells, or C.S. Lewis. Traviss is mediocre.

I think Karen Traviss' books may last for a very very long time at the rate they've been selling and her writing them. Besides, I like 'em, there not bad at all, maybe not H.G. Wells or Jules Verne, but hey, it's good

They may last, but that doesn't make her a good writer. I personally like Hard Contact a little, but not that much. Triple Zero bored me after the first hundred pages or so. I never got around to finishing it.

Timothy Zahn is a great author. Traviss is not. I've read three of her books, and couldn't stand them.

She constantly falls back on hero-worship instead of actually, you know, writing an engaging story.

Her decision to kill off one of the best loved and well-developed EU characters was also terrible.

Well, there are some who like it, some who don't, opinions are like that Personally, I rather enjoyed the books, but I didn't like their rebellious attitude as Mandalorians, maybe that's just me, but I wouldn't mind being the Imperial Commander who burns their homes to the ground...

...after that statement, I think I know that that was just me...

She didn't just write it, it was her idea to kill her too.

Very disturbing people....Traviss just needs to stop writing before Chewbacca is brought back form the dead somehow...or she kills off Han Solo or something...

Lol. I do agree that karen traviss made a couple mistakes in order 66. My favorite book out of the 4 would have to be hard contact though.

True, the Lucas Arts Authors are given [i]commissions[/], in other words, these commissions tell them what will happen, what to write about. They don't tell you everything, but they give the auther a subject, and major events. So, technically, Karen Traviss didn't have much choice. But still, she wrote it!

No, it was her choice. There's an interview at the end of the one of the Legacy of the Force books where she states she came up with the idea.
