Best Game Soundtrack
i was just thinking, with a lot of devs spending huge amounts of money on soundtracks for the games, which game is really getting the best soundtrack??
i'd have to say its a toss-up between the Halo series and the two soundtracks done by Gustav Grefberg (Chronicles of Riddick & Knights of the Temple). both have some absolutely beautiful scores and the music really fits in with the respective games.
now its y'alls turn.

The music from the Legend of Zelda games is aways top notch. I can't wait for the new game. The theme song is one of the best ever.

TSL's music is pretty good.
I also love the war themes by Michael Giacchino in Medal of Honor and Call of Duty.
The BF1942 theme song is also awesome.

I'd have to go with all the music from the Monkey Island series (especially 1 & 2), with KotOR close behind.

The Final Fantasy soundtracks have always been great.
I also like the Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater soundtracks, composed by Harry Gregson-Williams.

i have to say i dont really pay that much attention to the musi in a game i just enjoy it
dmc(1,2&3) - fun while bashing monsters but i wont get the album
kotor(1&2) - very star warsy and it helps maintain the illusion that i am actually 'in' the star wars universe
metal gear solid 3 snake eater - havent played it much but the beginning is great and it feels like a bond movie with me being bond
So long and thanks for all the fish
I pity the fools who have not played kotor

Homeworld has cool soundtrack. (They got Yes to make part of it.)
Command and Conquer Generals had awesome music, and it's free to download.
Red Alert 2 came out with a kick-arse soundtrack as well (not free).

For me, the best game soundtrack will always be Deus Ex (2000), whose music was done by Alexander Brandon and Reeves Gabrels. The music (or any game music) can be found here: www.mirsoft.com
A close second will be Golden Sun: The Lost Age (2003), which, although made for the GBA has the best music possible on the GBA.
KotOR and UT2004 can come next.
Who verily knows and who can here declare it, whence it was born and whence comes, this creation?
The Gods are later than this world's production. Who knows then whence it first came into being?
He, the first origin of this creation, whether he formed it all or did not form it,
Whose eye controls this world in highest heaven, he verily knows it, or perhaps he knows not.

well, as they say, 'the proof is in the puddin'. i have a couple of links to free (and official) downloads of the soundtracks by Gustav Grefberg. the Chronicles of Riddick soundtrack is from gamespot, so you'll need a basic membership to download. the other is from the KOTT website, and you can download the songs individually or in either mp3 or wav format.
