Desann and Down-Under *SPOILER*

There is something that puzzles me about the ending to JKII, why did Desann go down into the bowels of the Jedi Academy, it was just a dead-end after all and all there was was that power-up machine. Of course it was just a convienence for the game but was there any story to it?
